Obituary: Martha Walker Flippo Hamlet 18, 1937 - 22, 2016 Martha was born in Charlottesville, Virginia to parents Nora Agnes Timberlake and Robert Samuel Flippo. Her childhood home was on a farm against the backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and that is where her character was shaped by community, faith, gentleness and a strong work ethic. She grew up attending Hebron Baptist Church and was a part of the first graduating class from Albemarle High School in 1954. She met Frederick Pannell Hamlet Jr. while working at Acme in Crozet, Virginia. Their 57 year marriage began 23, 1956 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, which is located across the street from the University of Virginia. Fred worked at Sperry marine Corporation, Charlottesville, Virginia - a job that eventually took the family to San Diego where they settled. Martha had many professional capacities, including a long career in Human Resources with Blue Cross Blue Shield. Fred and Martha enjoyed a vacation home in Sun City Grand, Arizona, and this is where she found her love of hand quilting. She designed and hand-stitched over 30 treasured quilts. Martha died in her home surrounded by her adoring family. She is survived by: her sister, Jeanne Flippo Bailes who still resides in Charlotttesville, Virginia; her children Jayne Hamlet and Janet Hamlet Francis; son in law Barry Francis; granddaughters Victoria Francis and Lauryn (Francis) Velez: grand son-in law Eddie Velez; and two great grandchildren, Isla Velez and MaKenna Velez. Martha will be interned at Fort Rosecrans National (Bayside) next to Fred Hamlet, on 29, 2016. The service will be held at 11:30 am. Please send donations to Hebron Baptist Church, 66 Tanbark Drive, Afton Virginia 22920. Donations will be used for the care of the cemetery which includes the Flippo family plot where Martha's father and family members are buried. |

Obituary: Clarence Ed Hamlet 9, 1933 - 3, 2011 Eddie passed away peacefully from complications of Alzheimers. He was born and raised in the family home in Ventura, attended Mound Elementary School, Ventura Junior High School, Ventura High and one semester at Ventura Junior (one football season). Eddie played football and basketball in high school and graduated in 1951. In mid 1953, he joined the U.S.A.F. an married his wife o fifty-seven years, Cathy Marks. discharge he went to work for the Ventura City Fire Department and remained there for twenty-one years and retired as a captain for medical reasons. Eddie was always an avid outdoorsman: Fishing and hunting at every opportunity, as well as coaching youth sports. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Georg and Bessie Hamlet; brother Donald Hamlet; Dons sons, Steve and Greg; four brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law. He is survived by his wife, Cathy; sons Jeff (Sue) of Susanville, Doug (Kathy) of Ventura, CA, Don (Kim) of Bend, OR; daughter Linda of Camp Schiedeck, CA; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. At Eds request, there will be no services at this time. There will be a private family distribution of his ashes at a later date. The Hamlet family would like to extend sincere thanks to Deirdre Daly and the entire staff of Autumn years in Ojai for their loving care and compassion.
