Obituary: Joyce Marie Moore Holland of Collierville passed away peacefully 2, 2015 at the age of 79. She was born 3, 1935 in the Moore's Mill Community in Northeast Mississippi, the 4th child of Marie Basden and Olen Moore. She is survived by her husband of 62 years James Molton Holland; her siblings Flo Henry, Ferne Jackson and Billy Moore; daughter Ripple Holland Merrill and her husband Mark; son James Mitchell Holland Sr. and his wife Teri; son John Moore Holland and his wife Sara; nine grandchildren; Bethan Holland Raines, Sarah Elizabeth Merrill, James Mitchell Holland, Jr., Will Nixon Holland, John Mark Merrill Jr., David Michael Merrill, Anne Rachael Holland, Patrick Joseph Holland, Eliot Nixon Holland and four great-grandsons: Elijah Holland Raines, Gavin Gray Holland, Eero Holland Raines, John Wendell Holland Raines. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Kathryn and her infant son Joseph. Joyce was a loving and gregarious wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and a joy to all who knew her. She grew up in North Mississippi and married her husband James in 1952; they moved to Memphis in 1955. She loved to cook for and feed any and everyone, and was especially known for her glorious breakfasts. She was a talented seamstress, who was always honing her craft and also had a huge appreciation for anyone elses talents. Most of all she was a master gardener, she loved her flowers. She could make anything grow, and grow beautifully. She had an infectious laugh, a big love for all her family, and an even bigger love for Jesus. She will be missed by all. Visitation will be 5 at 9:30, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. both at St. Patrick Presbyterian Church, 463 Hwy 72, Collierville. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in her honor to the St. Patrick Presbyterian Building Fund, box 1087 Collierville, TN 38027. Born , 6, 1931 in Dyer , Tennessee, he was the son of the late Lee Roy Holland and the late Edna Mae Brown Holland. He was a retired pipe fitter for General Motors, member of Newbern First United Methodist Church and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. services for Mr. Holland will be 1:00 PM, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams with Rev. Gus Lohrum officiating. Interment will follow in Rehoboth . Visitation will be from 6:00 PM-9:00 PM at Johnson-Williams . He is survived by his wife of sixty three years, Betty Jane Scott Holland of Newbern, Tennessee; one son, Scott Holland and wife Kimberley of Newbern, Tennessee, three daughters, Gayla Jo Hull and husband Steve and Kathy Louann Merrell and her husband Kenneth Butch both of Swartz Creek, Michigan and Tammy Brooks of Newbern, Tennessee; one brother, Lee Roy Holland, Jr. of Dyersburg, Tennessee; three sisters,, Louise King of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Sammie Davis of Newbern, Tennessee and Dessie Hammersley of Newbern, Tennessee; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Roberts and Mary Owens. Obituary: Herman Lee Holland, age 82, of Logwood Lane, Greeneville, died , 30, 2010 at Laughlin Memorial Hospital. He was a farmer and was a member of Truth Free Will Baptist. Mr. Holland is survived by his wife of 54 years: Frances Holland; three daughters and sons-in-law: Joyce and Rev. Steve Ferguson of Chuckey, Mary Sue and Harold Smith of Greeneville, Janice and Rev. Walter Moore, Jr. of Greeneville; one son and daughter-in-law: Jeff and Nancy Louise Holland of Greeneville; grandchildren and their spouses: Vicky and David Gudger, Herman Ferguson, Rosa and Willie Hensley, Michelle McCamey, Melissa Smith, Frankie Ray Moore, Scotty and Kelley Moore; great grandchildren: Montana Ball, Dakota Ball, Austin Smith, Dale McCamey, Cody Lane Moore; three brothers: Bud Holland and his spouse, Phyllis, r Holland, and Richard Good, all of Jonesborough; several nieces and nephews; and special friends: Kenneth Brown, Jackie Kirkpatrick, Edris Neal, and Danny Weems. He was the son of the late r and Mattie Holland and was preceded in death by three sisters: Denzil Roberts, Debbie Bowser, and Annie Wattenbarger; and three brothers: Bob Holland, Lacy Kay Holland and James Holland. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. at Kiser-Rose Hill . The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. , at Truth Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Walter Moore Jr. and Rev. Lynn Mercer officiating. Interment will follow in Cross Anchor . Pallbearers will be Frankie Moore, Scotty Moore, David Gudger, Willie Hensley, Herman Ferguson, and Danny Weems. Honorary pallbearers will be the 4th Floor Nurses and Staff at Laughlin Memorial Hospital and Laughlin . Memorials may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses. |
