Obituary: Elnora Ellen Cobble Hinkle, age 83, of Morristown, went home to be with the Lord on , 22, 2015. She was a member of Morristown Baptist Tabernacle. She professed Christ as her Savior at an early age. Ellen owned and operated a beauty shop for several years and later attended visual arts classes at Carson Newman University. She also was a volunteer at Heritage , where she completed 8,000 service hours doing arts & crafts classes and a senior Joy choir. She was also a member of the Samuel Doak Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Flossie Cobble of Midway; brother-in-law, Minnis Hinkle; and sister-in-law, Linda Smith of Greeneville. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Cliff Hinkle of Morristown; son and girlfriend, Mike Hinkle and Jann Walker of Jefferson City; daughters, Jan (Raymon) McCrocklin of Dandridge, Pam Simpkins of Nashville, Joy Harris of Morristown; brother, C. M. (Carole) Cobble of Afton; sister, Alma (Larry) Carter of Bristol; brother-in-law, Junior Hinkle; sister-in-law, Cathy Riddle, both of Greeneville; grandchildren, Christy Noe of Nashville, Carrie (Bill) Collins of Clover, SC, Russ (Bianca) McCrocklin of Clover, SC, Tara (Greg) Dillehay of Henderson; Olivia Harris of Morristown; step-grandchildren, Matthew and Megan Harville; and great-grandchildren, Trenton Harris, Caleb Collins, Madeline McCrocklin, Sadie and Ben Shockley, and Hudson Dillehay. Obituary: Charles Kenneth Hinkle, builder of cabins, painter of pictures, and seeker of treasures, has gone on to greater treasure in the Lord as he lay down to sleep for an eon or two. Charles Kenneth Hinkle was born in Midway, Tenn. to Lee and Bertha Hinkle. He served in the United States Navy, stationed on the west coast for eight years. It was there that he met and married the love of his life, Ann Barton. were married for 54 years. leaving the Navy, the couple settled in Greeneville, Tenn. Known as a pillar of the community, Charles retired with an unblemished career from the Greeneville Police Department, where he retired as Captain of the Detective Department in 1994. A patriot, he also served in the U.S. Naval Reserves and the Tennessee Army National Guard. In retirement, Charles Kenneth enjoyed metal detecting, making charted discoveries about the Battle of Blue Springs, now on display in the Nathanael Greene Museum. He enjoyed spending time on the farm with his family, garden, and tractors. In later years, he was also well known as a local artist who painted scenes reminiscent of his rural Tennessee surroundings and upbringing. His greatest achievement, according to his family, was being an exemplary father and role model for them and beyond. During his last eighteen years, Charles Kenneth fought a courageous battle with Parkinsons disease with the help of his family. His attitude remained positive as he ook up the banjo and often played his theme song, Keep on the Sunny Side. His family takes solace in the ultimate victory from a line of one of Charles Kenneths own poems: The soul must look back ~ and shiver ~ at the sight of the crumbling grotto which restricted its flight ~ for a second. Charles Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents: Lee Roy and Bertha Hinkle; step-mother, Christine Hinkle; brother, Billy Joe Hinkle; and wife, Ann Barton Hinkle. He is survived by his children: Rhonda Broyles (Reverend Frank Broyles), Dane Hinkle, and Kendra Adele Hinkle; his grandchildren: Brad Caldwell, Emily Wilson (Captain Andrew Wilson), and Sara Mitchell (Brandon Richardson); one great-grandchild: (Baby Wilson) to arrive in ; his siblings: Marie Cloonan, Carroll Hinkle and wife Judy, Coy Hinkle and wife Fay, and Ross Hinkle and wife Nona; and several special nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. The family thanks Dr. E.B. Smith and Dr. Brad Strange, as well as the staff of Res and Caris. Special friends abound who shared a cherished connection with this remarkable man. Honorary pallbearers will be former and present members of the Greeneville Police Department. The family will receive friends from 5pm-7pm at Kiser-Rose Hill . The funeral service will be held at 11 am at Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. James W. Best and Rev. Frank Broyles officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove . Obituary: Ann Barton Hinkle, age 74, of Crescent Street, Greeneville, left this world for the peace and wholeness of life with Christ on 30, 2010. Her family says that she was a true Southern lady, gracious and gentle, and a loving wife and mother. She was a sincere Baptist and proud to be a member of First Baptist Church in Greeneville. She was born May 17, 1936 in Boldo, Walker , Alabama. In 1956, while Ann was working for the telephone company in Seattle, Washington, her older brother Elbert brought a shipmate home for pie on Presidents Day, and on May 3, 1956, Ann married 3rd Class Petty Officer Charles Kenneth Hinkle of Midway, Tennessee. Survivors include her husband of 54 years: Charles Kenneth Hinkle; daughters: Rhonda Hinkle Mitchell of Huntsville, Alabama and Kendra Hinkle of Greeneville; son: Dane Hinkle of Greeneville; three treasured grandchildren: Brad Caldwell of Opelika, Alabama, Emily Caldwell of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Sara Mitchell of Huntsville, Alabama; two brothers: Elbert Barton of Virginia and Robert Barton of Alabama; five sisters: Hazel Drummond, Mary Rich, Nita Richey Robinson, Kaye Bost, and Faye Freeman, all of Alabama; special friends: Mary Sue Brakebill, Dr. E.B. Smith, and Dr. Brad Strange She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Armstrong Barton and Mary Lena ORear Barton of Alabama; a sister: Dorothy Ethel Borden; and a brother: Thomas Dewy Barton. She loved roses and camellias, fine dishware and clothing, vanilla ice cream, Republican politics, current events, and her job in text management with the Greeneville Sun.
