Obituary: Justin Kyle Hansen was born on 1,1974 to Tamara and Wayne Hansen in Des Moines, Iowa and passed from this life in Portland, Oregon on May 25, 2015. He came into this world as we celebrated a New Year and left during the observance of Memorial Day. Justin lived in Altoona, Iowa while attending grade school, junior high and high school at SE Polk Schools. He then attended Iowa State University for one year and finished his formal education at the University of Iowa four years later. Justin loved and studied the arts and film making. He had a unique talent for painting and sketching and his wry humor appeared in many of the short films and video tapes he produced while in high school and later in college. In 1997 Justin and many of his closest friends packed their belongings and moved to Portland, Oregon. This became his home for the remaining 17 years of his life. Justin worked at many jobs during his time in Portland during the early years. He settled into a career of producing and selling large format high resolution graphical displays. He was very proud of his company and the products they produced. Justin had many friends from Iowa and in Portland. Among them, he was perhaps best known for his knowledge of musical artists and obscure music from the past, as well as his love for a good debate (any subject). He also loved to sing karaoke songs with his friends. Justin lived life with no regrets, as his cousin said "I'm going to try and put a little bit more Justin in my life...God knows, the world needs it". Those left to honor his memory are Justin's parents, Tam and Wayne Hansen; his sister, Mindy Dudley and her husband, Clint Dudley; his niece and nephew, Molly and Henry Dudley; his grandmothers, Agnes Jacobsen and Darlene Hansen, from Exira, Iowa; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Countless friends are included in the list of his loved ones. Justin's ashes will be taken back to Iowa by his parents, retracing a journey in reverse, which his band of friends took seventeen years ago. Memorial services will be held at a future time. |

Obituary: Catherine (Falk) Hansen passed away , 10, 2012, at her home in Portland, Oregon, surrounded by her children. She was 85 years old. Born in Troy, Montana on May 2, 1927, she was the daughter of Harry & Seine (Pihlaja) Falk. She had six siblings: Harold, Henry, Royal, Tarz, Gloria & Margie. As sharecroppers, the Falk family lived in many different farming communities across many states, finally settling in Oregon. As very small child, was a tap-dancer helping to earn an income for her family. One of the many stories told was when she arrived at the performance the booking agent would dress her in a beautiful dance outfit complete with tap shoes, very much like Shirley Temple. As a teenager, she and her sister Gloria went to work in the shipyards to help with the war effort. did jobs traditionally held by men, and were fondly referred to as Rosie the Riveters. In of 1948 married George Arnold, and they moved to her current home in 1950 where she has lived for the last 60 years raising four children: Diana Lynn, Steven Arnold, Susan Gail and Patricia Lynn. Her husband Arnold passed in 1982. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was adored by all. She is survived by her children, Diana Rock, Steven Bo (PK) Hansen, Susan (Dennis) Medeiros and Patti (Adam) Davis, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. now joins her husband Arnold, parents Harry & Seine, siblings Harry, Henry, Royal, Tarz, Gloria, Marjorie, grandson Kevin and many extended family and friends. It has been said that with her passing heaven became a more joyous place. Her final resting place is with her husband at Lincoln Memorial Park located in Portland, Oregon Favorite Quote: Peace in the valley\\ She will be missed beyond words. |

Obituary: James (Jim) Hansen was born in Astoria, Oregon 6, 1925 and grew up in the Warrenton area. He passed away on May 28, 2012. Jim joined the Army at age 18 and served during World War II. He fought in the D-Day Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge and received a Certificate of Diplome from France in recognition of his service and liberation of France. Jim married Beatrice Foley in 1954 and they moved to the Portland area to raise their family. enjoyed traveling and were founding members of Good Shepherd Community Church in Boring. He worked as a Foreman for Snyder Roofing for over 30 years. Bea passed away in 2001, Jim was blessed to meet Heidi Tappert. married in 2003 and enjoyed eight and a half wonderful years together. Jim is survived by Heidi, son James Hansen, daughter Frances Courtnier, grand daughter Andrea Cox, and brothers Robert and Richard Hansen. A private memorial service will be held , 2nd at noon at Lincoln Memorial Park. Donations may be made to the Wounded Warrier Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675. |
