Obituary: Norvin Nick Lavelle Hinson, of Norman Oklahoma entered into eternal rest on May 7, 2014. He was born 2, 1924 to Earl Owen Hinson and Audie Elsie (Whitlow) Hinson. Norvin was a real gentleman; he loved his late wife, Lillian Irene Hill, unconditionally. Married 4, 1946 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. To this blessed marriage five amazing children born. In 1955 the Hinson family moved to California where they made a home for their tight knit bunch. In 1979 Nick and his wife moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma. Norvin served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946 and fought in World War II. Most would say that Nick was a true family man and leader. He enjoyed teaching bible study, big band music, new cars, the Oklahoma City Thunder, O.U. athletics, but above all he enjoyed and cherished his family. He was the best dad and grandpa you could ask for. Norvin is preceded in death by the love of his life and companion, Lillian Irene (Hill) Hinson, who passed away on 21, 1995; both of his parents; and 3 brothers; 1 grandchild; and 1 great grandchild. Norvin is survived by three daughters: Billie Brown and husband Jim Brown, Dawn Elaine Heath and husband Tom Heath, Patrice Annette Ramsey and husband Lee Ramsey; two sons: Norvin Wayne Hinson and wife Sue Hinson, and Darrell Grant Hinson and wife Dottie Hinson; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and numerous friends and extended family. Services are under the direction of Resthaven of Shawnee, Oklahoma. A funeral service will be held in his honor on , May 10, 2014, at Highland Church of Christ in Tecumseh, Oklahoma at 2:00PM with a graveside service following at Pilgrims Rest in Newalla, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made |
