Obituary: Madeline Goolsby Hyatt, age 84, passed away on , 29, 2014 at Haywood Regional Medical . A native and lifelong resident of Haywood , she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Ruby Wiseman Goolsby. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George William Bill Hyatt who died in 2000. She was employed with Belk-Hudson Department store for eight years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Canton where she was a member of the womens group. Madeline was a member of the Red Hat Society, Haywood Christian Ministries, and the Canton Planning Board and Beautification committee. She is survived by four sons, David Hyatt and his wife, Joann, of Waynesville, Russell Hyatt of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Jeff Hyatt and Marty Hyatt and his wife, Janet, all of Canton; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon on , 1, 2015 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Reverend Erin Michelle Weaver and Reverend Clay J. Morgan officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at Wells of Canton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Canton General Fund or the Womens Circle of the church, 29 Newfound Street, Canton, NC 28716. |

Obituary: Lee Edward Hyatt, 65, passed away suddenly after a brief battle with cancer on 26, 2016 at Rex Hospital. Born on 21, 1951 in Asheville, NC; he was the son of Dorothy Kanipe Hyatt and the late Carl B. Hyatt. Lee graduated from Lee Edwards High School and Western Carolina University. His career in training and technical writing included working with CP&L for 24 years, GlaxoSmithKline, Matrix Resources, Timely Text, CIBER, Inc., EMC, Alphanumeric Systems, Spectraforce Technologies, and most recently at Blue Cross Blue Shield. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Pamela Harrington Hyatt, of Raleigh; daughter: Natalie Hyatt; his mother, Dorothy K. Hyatt, of Asheville; sister: Sarah and Michael McFee, of Asheville; mother-in-law: Betty C. Harrington and the late Bobby Ray Harrington, of Raleigh; brother-in-law: Todd and Ann Harrington, of Mooresville; nieces and nephews: Willie and Veronica Coin and family, Erin and Jessie Moffitt and family, Olivia and Blake Bowen and family, Scott Harrington and fiancé Katy Burnette, Lori Harrington and Seth Harrington; and by other family and friends, including his uncle: W. Jackie was born in Cullowhee on 23, 1923, to the late Rufus and Burlie Long Phillips. She enjoyed family, quilting, and mountain dancing. Jackie was a beauty operator for many years at Jac-o-nette Beauty Shop in Hazelwood. In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, James Hyatt; a son, Johnny Hyatt; a grandson, Tyler Woodle; an infant daughter, Peggy Ann Hyatt; two brothers, Dan and Roy Phillips; and two sisters, Peg Ensley and Ruby Henson. A native of Swain , he was the son of the late Joseph Woodrow and Elsie Parris Hyatt and was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Hyatt and two brothers, Tommy and Robert Hyatt. Carroll loved to loaf and fish for trout. From 1958-1966 Carroll and his brothers ran the Sanitary Barber Shop on Main St. He also drove tractor and trailer trucks together with Linda for 20 years. Carroll was a member of Allens Creek Baptist Church.
