Obituary: Mr. Ruffin Cletus Clete Hoyle, 99, of Icard, passed away on , 23, 2015, following a brief illness at Burke Hospice and Palliative . Clete was born on 9, 1915 in Cleveland to the late Martha Wortnam Hoyle and John Henry Hoyle. He was a member of Hildebran First Baptist Church. He was employed by Drexel Furniture for 40 years, and retired from the Army after 27 years active duty and reserves attaining the rank of Master Sargent and serving in WWII in The European Theater Germany. He was awarded the honor of Drexel Citizen of the Year, and also held the title of Fair Director in the Drexel community. He was involved in The Drexel Garden Club, as a charter member, Drexel Community Club, Drexel Community Fair Board of Directors, Huffman Bridge Fishing Club and held numerous positions of leadership in these organizations. He was also a member of the Foothills Dance Group, Foothills Hoofers Hiking Club, and the American Legion. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed camping, hiking, ballroom dancing, square dancing, and gardening. Survivors include his wife Blaka Meyer Hoyle of Icard; step sons Randy Meyer of Georgia, Gary Meyer of Hickory, and Al Childers of Boone; God Daughter Laura Collins of Georgia; one sister Irene Hoyle of Casar; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Service for Mr. Hoyle will be held 2:30 PM 26, 2015 at Heritage Service with Rev. Ron Arndt and Rev. Dr. Lynn Reddick officiating. The family will receive friends on , from 1:00 until 2:30 P.M. at Heritage Service in Valdese. Interment will follow the service at Drexel Memorial Park. Memorials may be sent to Hildebran First Baptist Church Building Fund at PO Box 220 Hildebran, NC 28637 or Burke Hospice and Palliative at 1721 Enon Rd. Valdese, NC 28655. Obituary: Rev. Michael Eugene Hoyle, 72, of Hickory, went to his Heavenly unexpectedly on 17, 2016 at Frye Regional Medical . Rev. Hoyle was born 10, 1943 in Burke , a son of the late Loy and Ruth Brittian Hoyle. Michael retired from the Alba-Waldensian shipping dept. He was a faithful member of New Life Church in Hickory and was serving as the pastor of Wesley Methodist Church in Lenoir. Surviving are his wife Brenda Lowman Hoyle of the home, a son, Paul Hoyle and wife Susan of Hickory and a grandson, Zakore Hoyle of Hickory. Also surviving are his sisters, Azalee Carter and husband Bill of Dallas, TX., Pat Lowman and husband C.D. of Connelly Springs, Gail Ayers and husband David of Hampstead, NC, foster siblings, Johnny Hoyle of Fort Worth, TX, Mickey Hoyle of Spindale, NC, and Tammy Rector of Valdese, and a number of nieces and nephews. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3:00 P.M. 20, 2016 in the Chapel of Heritage Service, Valdese, with Rev. Robert Gober and Rev. Brian Lowman officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:00 P.M. at Heritage Service, Valdese. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heritage Service to assist with expenses. |
