Obituary: Born in Cherryville, NC on 9, 1936 to Cecil and Ruby Jarrett, Elizabeth "Izzie" passed away , May 17, 2017 at Hospice in Newton, NC. Izzie graduated from Newton-Conover High School and Queens in Charlotte, NC. She was formerly office manager at B. Brown & Associates in Newton. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Newton where she was a long time member of the choir and was involved in volunteer work there. She was also active with Meals-on-Wheels and the Catawba Regional Hospice of Newton over the years. She enjoyed playing bridge with many good friends and watching the Atlanta Braves play ball. She is survived by her husband John W. Holshouser of Newton and five daughters: Norma Matto (Rosalino; children John, Anna) of Greensboro, NC. Lesley Burnham (Brian; children Davis, Avery, Courtney) of Summerfield, NC. Elinor Danford (Tom; children Caroline, Sam, Alexandra) of Shaker Heights, OH. Sarah Holshouser (Paul Brinkman) of Raleigh, NC. Frances Hymiller (Chip; children Abbey, Andrew) of Raleigh, NC. She is survived by her brother Cecil Sonny Jarrett Jr. (Leanne) of Columbia, SC; and sisters Sara Leonard (Jerry) of Charlotte, NC; Martha "Marcie" Martin (Grover, dec) of Aurora, IL. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Pinkney Butch Jarrett (Nancy of Austin, TX) and sister Frances Kitty Adair. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church located at 701 North Main Street Newton, NC 28658 at 2:00 p.m. on , May 20, 2017 with Reverend Connie Button officiating. Obituary: Paul Eugene Holsclaw, Sr., age 80, passed away on , 25, 2015 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton. Born on 22, 1935 in Catawba , he was the son of the late Donald Sorrell Holsclaw and Ida Mae Cox Holsclaw. Paul worked at Joan Fabrics for over 30 years and retired from the City of Hickory as Grounds Keeper for the Crawdads Stadium. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. Paul was a former member of the Mt. View Vol. Fire Department and installed the firefighting ug in all four of his sons. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and lived for his children and family. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim Holsclaw, Frank Holsclaw, and Ray Holsclaw. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Dorothy Hefner Holsclaw; sons, Paul Holsclaw, Jr. and wife, Pamela, Kevin Holsclaw and wife, Kela, Tony Holsclaw and wife, Monica, and Brian Holsclaw; daughters, Lisa Buchanan and Ginna Holsclaw; brothers, Howard Bud Holsclaw and wife, Jeannie, and Claude Doc Holsclaw; sisters, Vergie Kanipe and husband, Larry, and Ann Warren; grandchildren, K.C. Gregory, Jr., Avie Robinson Smith, Samantha Holsclaw, Travis Holsclaw, Christine Webb, Mark Benfield, Jr., Jordan Hayes, Jessica Hildebran, Josh Holsclaw, Matthew Holsclaw, and Adam Holsclaw; great-grandchildren, Ellie Smith, Heaven Webb, James Webb, and Eryn Holsclaw. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on , 28, 2015 at Providence Baptist Church, 7618 Providence Church Rd., Hickory, NC 28602 with Pastor Steven Walsh officiating. A private burial will be held prior to the service. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658. |

Obituary: HICKORY---James Donald Holsclaw, 84, passed away , 27, 2015 at his residence. James was born 15, 1930 in Catawba Co. to the late Donald S. and Ida Mae Cox Holsclaw. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ilease Detter Holsclaw; daughter, Libby Holsclaw, love of his life and reason for him living and two brothers, Frank W and Walter R. Holsclaw. He was a self-employed truck driver. Surviving are his brothers; Paul E. Holsclaw and wife, Dorothy of Mt. View, Howard H. Bud Holsclaw and wife, Regina of Hickory and Claude Doc Wayne Holsclaw of Brookford; sisters, Virgie Kanipe and husband, Larry of Mt. View and Martha Ann Warren of Brookford and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be , 30, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Hickory Chapel with Minister Robert Lail officiating. Interment will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends , 30, 2015 from 12:30 \ 1:45 P. M. at Hickory . Pall Bearers will be Mark Holsclaw, Paul Holsclaw Jr., Walt Holsclaw, Jimmy Holsclaw, Brian Holsclaw, Ray Linder and Roy Schronce.
