Obituary: William Ronnie Holmes, 62, of Ash, NC passed away on the seventeenth of 2017 in the Novant Brunswick Medical , Bolivia. Ronnie was born in Wilmington, NC on the twenty-second of 1954 to the late William Rockwell and Mildred Long Holmes. He was a logger for many years; he enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and camping. He is survived by his loving wife, Lowery Holmes, of the home; two daughters; four grandchildren, and a special uncle, Richard Long. Services will be held from the graveside at one o'clock in the afternoon on the twenty-second of 2017 in the Chapel Hill , Shallotte, NC, with the reverend Landis Lancaster officiating. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that monetary donations be made in his name to the Princess Ministries, C/O The Living Word Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1029 George II Highway, Winnabow, NC 28479. Obituary: HOLMES, Sterling Charles (Doc), Col. ( US Army, Ret. ) beloved husband of Dell Hawkins Holmes, passed away peacefully on 25, 2014. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and E l i z a b e t h Holmes, his sister Virginia White, his brother Robert Holmes and his wife of 47 years, Johnnie K. Holmes. In addition to his wife, Doc is survived by his children, Robert S. Holmes, Lynda Harris (Bill), Nancy Sutton, Dwight Hawkins, and Pam Casey (Smiley); six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Doc was born on 14, 1916 and spent his youth in Buskirk, NY. graduating summa cum laude from NC State and USC, he began a 30- year Army career, taking him and his family to destinations around the world and making many life-long friends. retirement he served as Business Manager of Athens in Athens, Alabama. Docs interests included dancing, bridge, golf, clock repair, church and Lions Club activities. Throughout his life, nothing was more important to this true gentleman than his family. A memorial service will be held at Hayes Barton Baptist Church, 1800 Glenwood Ave., where Doc and Dell are members, on , 1, 2014 at 2:00. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church. He will be interred at Arlington National . In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Lions Club, Hayes Barton Baptist Church, or Hospice of Wake . by Brown-Wynne F.H., Saint Marys St. Raleigh. |
