Obituary: Maggie Valley, Phillip Clarke Holland, age 66, passed away on , 23, 2015 at his residence. A native of Haywood , he was the son of the late Wilson and Callie Clarke Holland. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte West Holland, who died in 1999. Phillip was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Vietnam Era. He retired from the US Postal Service with 20 years of service and was a member of Calvary Road Baptist Church. Phillip loved animals especially, his pet bulldog, Floyd. Philip is survived by his sister, Crystal Hopkins (Steven); an aunt, Alaska Pressley; nephew, William Hopkins; five cousins, Charles Holland, Pat Messer, Jay, Cary and Sherri Clarke; and a special friend, Nancy Crawford. services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on , 27, 2015 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells with Reverend John H. Swanger, III officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Haywood Animal Welfare Association, P.O. Box 992, Waynesville, NC 28786. |
