Obituary: Dateline: Monroe N.C. DAWN SHAFFER HINSON Mrs. Hinson, age 39, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on noon, May 9. 2010 at Carolina Medical in Charlotte. Dawn was born May 23, 1970 in Mecklenburg , daughter of Steve and Cheryl Boulware Shaffer, a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church, and worked for 20 plus years for Lance Inc. in Charlotte. Visitation will be 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. evening at the McEwen of Monroe, Services to celebrate the life of Dawn will be 2:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Baptist Church, with Reverends Donald Lisk, Russell McWhorter and Gene Mullis Jr. officiating, interment will follow in Clear Creek Baptist Church . Survivors include her husband, Danny R. Hinson, two sons, Darin Hinson and Drew Hinson both of the home, parents, Steve and Cheryl Shaffer of Monroe N.C., sister, Candice S. Austin of Monroe N.C., two brothers, Kevin Shaffer of Stanfield N.C., Jeffery Jeff Shaffer of Monroe N.C. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Obituary: Cecil P. Hinson, 81, of Cary, NC died , 1, 2015. He was born 16, 1934 in Star, NC to Paul and Mary Elizabeth Lassiter Hinson. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary N. Hinson; children, Cecile M. Hinson of Apex, NC and Alice M. Hinson of Henderson, NC; 1 brother, 3 sisters, a large circle of extended family, friends, and his beloved 4-legged family. Cecil was a Vietnam Veteran, served honorably for 24 years in the US Air Force, retired as a Chief Master Sergeant, and then began his second career with CP&L/Progress Energy which lasted 23 years. An avid outdoor and wildlife enthusiast, Cecil enjoyed bass fishing at lakes and fly fishing in streams across the US and deep sea fishing off the coast of Ocracoke Island. He instilled a deep appreciation of nature and animals in his children and helped them rescue numerous wild and domestic animals including hand-raising baby birds and squirrels for release back into their natural habitats and rescuing many cats and dogs to be placed eventually in permanent homes - although some never left the loving home he provided them. He was a founding member of the Coronado Village HOA which was formed to ensure that the neighborhood pond stayed healthy and well-stocked with fish for local children who enjoyed fishing. Cecil was the heart and core of his immediate family, was beloved by numerous relatives and friends, and while he will be deeply missed, the love, kindness, and generosity that was his essential nature remains with us all. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 a.m. on , 9, 2015 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 804 High House Road, Cary, NC 27513. A reception will immediately follow in The Gallery at the parish Conference next door. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please make a donation to Cecils favorite rescue center which provides free veterinary and rehabilitation services to orphaned and injured native North Carolina wildlife: the Valerie H. Schindler Wildlife Rehabilitation at the North Carolina Zoo. A donation collection basket will be available prior to mass and at the reception.
