Obituary: Mary Holladay Obituary Mary Frances Holladay, 99, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2017. services will be 2:00pm on , May 26, 2017 at Newcomer’s Noland Road Chapel with visitation preceding at 1:00pm. Private burial at a later date in Woodlawn . In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts be made to Ascend Hospice of Kansas City or your favorite charity in her memory. Mrs. Holladay was born on Christmas Day, 1917, to Theodore Frank Kuester and Allie Mary Elizabeth Glenn in Lecompton, KS. She graduated from Lawrence High School and married Walter LeRoy Holladay in 1935. moved to Kansas City in 1945. She attended Dickinson’s Secretary and Business . She was secretary to the principal at both William Chrisman and later at Truman High School after it was built. She was a member of Budd Park Christian Church, Order of the Eastern Star, the New Era Study Club, and the Knife and Fork Club of Independence. She was also very supportive of the Boy Scout program serving as Den Mother and encouraged her two sons to attain the rank of Eagle Scout and become members of the Tribe-Of-Micosay. She instilled in her sons the importance of education, work ethic, honesty, character and belief in Christian values. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, canning, gardening, pottery and travel. Lone Star Lake (Lawrence) was a special place as she enjoyed fishing, picnics and playing cards with family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, her parents, Theodore and Allie Kuester, and her siblings, Cora Anderson, Edith Wongwai, Katie Pence, Ransdell, Glen Kuester, and Calvin Kuester, and daughter-in-law, Georgia Holladay. She is survived by her two sons, Jim Holladay (Lorinda) and Bob Holladay; six grandchildren, Jana Lane (Walt), Brett Holladay (Uli), Stacia Perdue (John), Christine Murray (Steve), Chad Holladay (Melissa), Cheryl Hardy; eleven great-grandchildren, Greg Lane (Kathryn), Lindsey Kreikemeier (Robert), Sarah Holladay, Lukas Holladay, James Perdue, Tyler Perdue, Jessie Fulmer (Jayson), Bailey Stocker, Grace Stocker, Jacob Holladay and Morgan Holladay; and three great-great grandchildren, Heidi and Rhett Kreikemeier, Jack Lane; and many nieces and nephews. “You will never leave us, we carry you in our hearts.” |

Obituary: Ralph L. Holiman, 89, passed away on , May 13, 2017. He was born on May 21, 1927 in Gravelly, AR to Ethel and Cecil Holiman, the youngest of nine children. When he was 18 years old, he accompanied a friend, who was planning to join the Army on a trip to Little Rock. When they arrived at the recruitment site, a Marine Corps. Recruitment Officer approached them in line and not only did his friend sign up to join the Marines, Ralph did as well. He later sent an apology letter to his parents for not coming home right away. He joined the service during World War II and from 1945 to 1969 he served his country with active tours of duty in Korea and Vietnam. He also spent portions of his career at sea on military warships, often for months at a time. He was very proud to be a Mustang having advanced from Private to his final position as a Captain. During his military service, he met Neola Clark in California where they married in 1950. lived in California, Tennessee, North Carolina and Washington DC. eventually settled in Kansas City, MO to be closer to both extended families. his military retirement, he joined the State Farm Insurance family. He became a State Farm agent and retired from agency in 1996. His passion for helping people was instrumental in his success as a business man and he made many friends through the years. He is survived by his brother, r Bruce Holiman, of Chattanooga, TN, his sister, Mary Stewart, of Hannibal, MO, daughter Cindy Powers of Overland Park, KS, sons Bruce Holiman (Susan) and David Holiman (Lisa). He is also survived by his grandson, Sam Holiman, of Lee’s Summit, MO and granddaughters, Lauren Holiman, New York, NY, and Angela Duarte (Adam) of Olathe, KS. He also leaves behind great granddaughters, Ashlynn Marie Duarte and Arden Rose Duarte. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and was loved by all. Visitation will be on , May 16th from 6 to 8 pm. His funeral is , May 17th at 10 am at Floral Hills , 7000 Blue Ridge Boulevard, Kansas City, MO 64133. Charitable gifts can be made to the Blue Ridge Bible Church. |
