Obituary: Cletus Ray Hodge, 95, a long-time resident of the Hills Chapel Community, died , 26, 2015, at Traceway Retirement Community in Tupelo. He was born 18, 1919, to the late Thomas Leroy and Missouri Patterson Hodge. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 and shortly thereafter married the love of his life, Benebba Scott. his service during World War II, which included participation in the Battle of the Bulge within the 9th Army, 9th Armored Division, he returned to Prentiss where he farmed and raised cattle until 2007. He also worked at McClenden Cheese and in maintenance during construction of the Tenn Tom Waterway. He enjoyed working with his cattle, gardening, playing Rook, and doing whatever his wife of 68 years asked of him. He was a member of Candlers Chapel Baptist Church. services will be 2:00 pm , 28, 2015 at McMillan with Bro. Tommy Wilder and Bro. Ray Bennett officiating. Burial will be in the Candlers Chapel . He is survived by his son, Bobby (Jane) Hodge of Belden; his grandson, Stewart (Molly) Hodge of Booneville; his great-grandson, Peyton Hodge; a sister, Vera (Jimmy) McDonald of Ocala, FL; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years; two brothers, George and Hubert Hodge; three sisters, Eunice Vuncannon, Lorene Alexander, and Tressie Gitter. Obituary: Master Sergeant (Ret) Clayton Gregory Hodge, Sr. was born in Jackson, Mississippi, 18, 1930 to the late Jesse and Elsie Hodge, and was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, the late Norma Jean Hodge, and a son, Ronald Girard Hodge. graduating fifth in his class from Lanier High School in 1948, Clayton enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served honorably for 24 years. retiring from Active Duty, Clayton received his BSW from Jackson State University and MSW from the University of Southern Mississippi. Clayton served as Executive Director of the Jackson Urban League and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Jackson and was an Adjunct Faculty Member of the JSU Social Work Department. Clayton was an LCSW, Certified Diplomate in Psychotherapy and through his private practice, “The Counseling of Mississippi, Inc.,” he counseled and provided therapy for numerous individuals, groups and families. Clayton was a lifelong member of Sweet Water MBC, where he served faithfully as School Teacher and Deacon for many years. Clayton is survived by three sons, Clayton G. Hodge, Jr. (Debra), Michael L. Hodge (Deborah) and Kevin E. Hodge; two daughters, Stephanie L. H. Warnsley (Paul, Jr.) and Angela M. H. Denman; brother, Cleveland Hodge (Dollie); sister, Erma Harris; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild. Clayton is also survived by his significant other, Ms. Dorothy Shinall as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Obituary: Anna Benebba Scott Hodge, 88, a lifelong resident of the Hills Chapel community, died , 23, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. She was born 18, 1922 to the late George Washington and Tennie Bonds Scott. She graduated from Booneville High School in 1940. She met her husband Cletus while working at the Agents office in Booneville, and they married in of 1942. She took a leave of absence to join him at Fort Riley, Kansas where he was stationed in the U.S. Army. returning to Prentiss , she worked at Blue Bell and Marietta factories for more than thirty years before retiring. She had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed gardening, flowers and fishing. She took great pleasure in cooking for her family, especially for her grandson and his friends. She loved God and her church family at Candlers Chapel Baptist Church, where she was an active member. services will be 10:00 a.m. , 26, 2011 at the McMillan Chapel with Bro. Greg Smart, Bro.
