Obituary: WILLIAM (BILL) EWING HENRY, 92, OF MONTGOMERY ALABAMA, died , 7, 2015. Bill was born to the late William and Gladys Henry, 19th, 1923 in Gadsden, Alabama. He graduated from Lanier High School and later attended the University of Alabama and Troy University where he majored in engineering. He married the late Evelyn R Henry in 1950 and they resided in Montgomery Alabama. Bill was a decorated WWII Veteran who served in the US Army Air Force as a P51 Flight Leader, 529th Fighter Squadron from 1944 - 1946 flying 36 combat missions. He was a retired State of Alabama Senior Bridge Engineer who worked for more than 40 years designing bridges until he retired in 1980. He served as a Deacon at Morningview Baptist Church and was a teacher in the Bible Study Fellowship Program. He was also honored by the American Red Cross with their highest honor for the years of blood donations. Bill loved to serve his Country, his community and his family and will be missed by all those he touched. Bill is survived by two children: Leah Henry Randall, of Oneonta and Thad Henry, of Huntsville. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Stephanie, Clay, and Chris and two grandchildren who preceded him in death, Charlyn and Wes. Visitation will be held on , 13, 2015 from 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM at White Chapel Greenwood in Montgomery, AL Pastor Shawn Merithew will preside over a short service starting at 10:45 AM in the Chapel. An interment service with military honors will follow at 11:00 AM at Greenwood |

Obituary: William Robert ("Bill") Henry passed away peacefully on evening, May 13, 2015 at the age of 97. Born in Orlando, Florida on 11, 1917, Bill enjoyed a life filled with accomplishments and the adoration of his loving family. Bill spoke fondly of his childhood, including the horse-drawn wagon that delivered ice to his family, traveling the "corduroy" roads - made from logs laid side by side - and going barefoot when he outgrew his once-a-year shoes. Following high school, Bill became a fruit inspector and attended Florida Southern . World War II called Bill into Army service. While stationed in Kansas preparing for his overseas tour, he met and married the love of his life, Dorothea Katherine ("Dot") Boxberger. The war took him to Ecuador and Saipan, utilizing his skills as a radio school technician and trainer. The end of the war brought Bill home to Dot. Together, they attended the University of Missouri and settled in Kansas. Bill owned and operated a Western Auto store before using his degree in electrical engineering at Boeing , Bendix Corporation, and NASA in Huntsville, Alabama. There, he worked with Werner Von Braun and his team. He received awards for his work on numerous projects, including the Saturn V rocket. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothea K. Boxberger, his granddaughter Natalie S. Henry, and his two brothers Leroy and Herbert Henry. He is survived by three children; Annette C. Henry (Edward Grimes) Snohomish, Washington, Linda H. Carroll (Gary) Eastpoint, Florida, and James F. Henry (Linda) of wood, Alabama, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
