Obituary: William Howard Hosking, 93, of Gratiot Lake and Battle Creek, MI died at Bronson Battle Creek with family at his side on , May 7, 2014. Howard was born in Hancock, Michigan to William and Myrtle (Gray) Hosking on May 27, 1920. Howard was raised in Calumet, Michigan, where he was a graduate of Calumet High School Class of 1937. Upon graduation he began working at Houghton Electric Power (Upper Peninsula Power ). Howard was united in marriage to Marion Rosemergy on 1, 1944. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942 and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II aboard the USS Schroder DD501 and was honorably discharged in 1945. his discharge he returned to work at the power company until 1952. In 1952 he then began a new career with the U.S. Air Force Radar Station as a civil engineer and as the Power Production Foreman until his retirement in 1979. Howard was preceded in death by his wife Marion in 1979. In 1985 he was united in marriage to Marilyn (Dabio) Richards. He served 20 years on the Calumet High School Board of Education, and was a member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees , Calumet United Methodist Church, Calumet-Keweenaw Sportsman Club, CLK Hockey Association and Battle Creek Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. He and Marilyn resided in Battle Creek in the winter, returning to their Upper Peninsula home at Gratiot Lake for the summer. Howards home at Gratiot Lake was his heaven on earth. In addition to his wife, Marilyn of Gratiot Lake and Battle Creek, he is survived by his sons, John (Bunny) Hosking of Battle Creek, Jim (Debra) Hosking of Ceresco, MI; grandchildren, Anne Hosking of Battle Creek, Christy (Mike) Mackaluso of Bolingbrook, IL, Mark (Danielle) Hosking of Clinton Twp., MI, Matt Hosking of Denver, CO, Emily (Matt) Green of Battle Creek, Ellen Hosking of Ceresco; stepsons, Clyde (Rosie) Richards of Marquette, IA, Bryan (Patricia) Richards of Florida and Battle Creek; great grandchildren, Zoe Mackaluso and Rowan Green; step grandchildren, Al Richards, Sabrina Richards of Marquette, IA, Anna Richards, Andrew Richards of Tampa, FL and great grandson, Thor Richards of Tampa, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews. Howard was preceded in death by a sister Elizabeth H. Binda and a step-brother, Phil Cooper. Memorial graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. , 19, 2014 at Lakeview in Calumet, MI, 49913, followed by fellowship at Calumet United Methodist Church for family and friends. Obituary: Hosking, Mary Louise, 77, of Dexter, Michigan passed away peacefully on , 12, 2015 at Arbor Hospice. She was born 14, 1937 in Dexter, MI, the daughter of Frederick and Beatrice (Ward) Walker. She was raised in Dexter and graduated from Dexter High School, class of 1956. Mary retired from Dapco Industries and worked in the Dexter High School Cafeteria for several years. She also worked with her late husband, Jack, as they started a woodworking business, JAMCRAFTS. Mary was also an excellent seamstress. She has been a member or the Dexter Gospel Church for 15 years. On 6, 1963, she married Pat D. Cook who preceded her in death after 8 years of marriage. On New Years Eve 1975, she married Jack Hosking and they were married for 24 years. Jack also preceded her in death. Mary is survived by three sisters Betty Lockhart of Canton, Joanne Nicholson of Ann Arbor, Shirley (Jim) Smith of Belleville; one brother Charles (Terry) Walker of Little Rock, AR; two step-children Lisa (Sam) Phillips of KY and John Hosking of Switzerland; two step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Leon Gauss of Ann Arbor. In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was preceded in death by her brother Russell (Yvonne) Walker of Dexter. Mary was a loving wife, sister, a very special aunt, and a wonderful friend to all who knew her. She fought the good fight battling breast cancer and her strength will stay with all of us forever in our hearts. Visitation will be at Hosmer-Muehlig Chapel on , 13, 2015 from 3-8p.m. services will be on , 14 at 11:00a.m. at the Dexter Gospel Church 2253 Baker Rd. Dexter, MI with visitation beginning at 10:00a.m. Entombment will follow at Washtenong Memorial Park in Ann Arbor, MI. Obituary: Geraldine Gerry Hosking, 71, of Negaunee, passed away evening, May 21, 2016 with her fiancé and daughter by her side and family and friends close by. She was under the care of Lake Superior Hospice. Gerry was born in Detroit on 29, 1944, a daughter of the late Edwin and Dorothy (Smith) Hosking and was a 1962 graduate of Brighton High School. Gerry graduated from Cleary in Ypsilanti with a degree in business. Her employment included former assistant manager of the Spouse Abuse Shelter in Marquette and later worked for many years with Lake Superior Village where she retired as project manager. Gerry was an avid acrylic painter of still-life with a fondness of eagles and moons and also worked with decoupage, turning plain furniture into works of art. She enjoyed spending time at Camp Eagle on Goose Lake with her family and friends. She is survived by her fiancé, Randy Horvath of Negaunee; four children, Jennifer (Greg Retaskie) Tavernier of Marquette, Michelle Tavernier of Negaunee, Cajsa Maki of Marquette and Adam (Angela) Sleeman of Ishpeming; five grandchildren, Amber (Shane) Baker , Autumn Christunas, Christopher Hosking, Irja Maki, Julieanne Sleeman and many other extended grandchildren and great grandchildren including Desmond Baker. Gerry is also survived by one niece and a nephew. Preceding her in death besides her parents was a brother, Jack Hosking. A funeral service will be held on , May 26th at 4 p.m. in the Canale-Tonella , Marquette, with the Rev. Leon Jarvis officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 2 p.m. until the time of the service. A luncheon will take place immediately following the service in the funeral home.
