Obituary: Violet Leona Haselhuhn, of Sandusky, Michigan, died peacefully at Stonegate Village Assisted Living on 6, 2015 after a brief illness. She was just 12 days short of her 98th birthday. Violet Leona Meyer was born to David and Mabel Schramm Meyer in Pontiac, Michigan on 18, 1917. She graduated from Pontiac Senior High School in 1936 where she was a member of the Student Council, and several choral clubs as well. Interestingly, her chosen quote in the school yearbook was My life is my own and that so captures how she lived her life from then on. Violet married Melvin (Mel) Haselhuhn on 12, 1940 in Pontiac, Michigan. Together, they moved from Pontiac to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1950, then to Mansfield, Ohio in 1957 and finally returning to Michigan in 1968 as Mel pursued his career with the Fisher Body Division of General Motors Corporation. Violet is survived by her son and daughter, Jim (Judy) Haselhuhn and Cheryl Lippert (Dick Lippert), as well as her granddaughters, Michele Dlugozima (Mike Dlugozima) and Jennifer Carpenter (Scott Carpenter) and two great grandchildren, Cameron Carpenter and Kailey Carpenter. In addition, she is survived by her brothers Raymond (Dorothy) and Richard (Janet) Meyer. She was preceded in death by her husband Mel, her sister Ethel Lukos and special friend Russell Lyon, with whom she enjoyed many years after the passing of her husband. Violet and Mel loved to travel, with visits to all 50 states in the USA as well as Bermuda. In 1977, she and Mel purchased an oceanfront condo in Satellite Beach, Florida where they cherished their time spent watching the ocean from their balcony and strolling the beach. Violets strength demonstrated itself in her fierce independence during the years following Mels death. Her children marveled at her abilities to live by herself and perform the mechanical repairs as needed to maintain her properties. Her many interests, which reflected her creative and artistic talents, included the love of playing the piano, singing in the choir, gardening, decorating, painting, sewing, china painting and ceramics. In addition, she enjoyed playing tennis and golf and thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of nature. The family will hold a visitation and memorial ceremony at Pixley located at 3530 Auburn Road in Auburn Hills with her interment immediately following at White Chapel Memorial . In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Peace Lutheran Church (92 N. Flynn St., Sandusky, MI 48471). |

Anna was also preceded in death by 4 brothers: Rudolf Waldinger, Franz Waldinger, Audi Waldinger and Martin Waldinger. Anna was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who also worked as a Housekeeper for Albion for 20 years.
