Obituary: Wallace Haisten, age 87, passed away at home, surrounded by his family, on 11, 2011. A native of Childersburg, he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Mildred Gauntt Haisten. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Louise Haisten, his children James Pete Haisten (Sharon), Dianne Slaten (Eddie), Gary Haisten (Pat) and step-son, Kenny Goodwin, all of Childersburg; grandchildren Karen Spivey (Wayne), Brian Haisten (Pam), Jason Haisten (Jenny), Chad Slaten (Karen), Tonya Cronan (James), Hunter Haisten (Laura), Wes Haisten and special grandchild, Amanda Poole; great grandchildren, Christa Jones, (Andy), Blake Haisten (Amanda), Katie Haisten, Payton and Landon Haisten, Reid and Ryan Slaten, Abby, Maggie and Gracie Willis, Hallie Claire and Lila Haisten and great-great grandchildren Luke and David Jones and Addy Haisten; step-children, Kathy Carter (Jerry), Joey Goodwin (Judy), Patty Shaw (Tommy), Tracy Shaw (Hugh); step-grandchildren, Crystal Vasquez, Kelly Johnstone, Angela Carter and Shane Goodwin; and five step-great grandchildren. Mr. Haisten was the oldest of eight children born to Ollie Mae and Mellis Haisten and is survived by brothers, Bill, Bob and Malcolm Haisten, sister, Pam Bryant and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Haisten was a veteran of WWII and a long-time member of Fairmont Baptist Church in Sylacauga where he served the Lord and led the singing for many years. He retired at the age of 80 from Haisten Pest Control where he was loved by his customers throughout the area. Affectionately known as Pop by his family and others, he will be dearly missed by all. Visitation will be on , 13th from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. at Curtis & Son in Childersburg. Chapel services will be on , 14th at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Ralph Thomas officiating; burial to follow in Greenhill in Childersburg. Pallbearers will be Chad Slaten, Brian Haisten, Jason Haisten, Hunter Haisten, Wes Haisten, James Cronan and Wayne Spivey. The family wishes to thank the staff of New Beacon Hospice for their compassionate care. Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel will direct the services. |

Obituary: Hunter Reid Haisten of Chelsea, AL passed from this life on 19, 2016. Hunter was born on 25, 1976 and was raised in Talladega. He graduated from The University of Alabama Culverhouse School of Business in 1998 and earned his masters degree from the university in 1999. He had been employed as the Human Resources Manager at the Jefferson-Blount-St. Clair Mental Authority since 2001. He was honored to be a Deacon at Meadow Brook Baptist Church, Birmingham and also greatly enjoyed being a member of The Red Elephant Club. Hunter was a loving and devoted husband, father, son and brother. He is survived by his wife of fourteen years, Laura and his precious daughters, Hallie Claire and Lila of Chelsea; parents, Gary and Pat Haisten of Chelsea; brother, Wes (Erin) Haisten, nieces Gracelyn and Mallory of Chelsea and grandmother, Betty King of Childersburg. He will also be greatly missed by his mother-in-law, Cheryl Mazzone of Sterrett; father-in-law, Rick (Sharon) Mazzone of Birmingham and sister-in-law, Lisa (Andy) Taylor and nephews Ford and Everett of Helena. Service will be , 22nd at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of Meadow Brook Baptist Church, Birmingham with burial to follow at Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Childersburg.
