Obituary: Martha Magnolia Adkins Hamby, 78, of Hot Springs passed with peace and grace surrounded by her family on 19, 2016. She was born in Hot Springs on 17, 1937 to the late Ancil Brown Adkins, Sr. & Magnolia Juanita Brennan Adkins. Magnolia was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church. high school in 1955 she was a Hot Springs Debutante. She attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where she met the love of her life, Daniel B. Hamby, Jr. Magnolia and Dan were married on 7, 1958 at First United Methodist Church. At the beginning of their marriage Magnolia and Dan traveled extensively throughout the country for Dan’s business, in MA, VA, and TX adding three children along the way. returned to Hot Springs to start Sigma Supply, Inc. and raise their family. Magnolia & Dan started Sigma Supply, Inc. in 1970 in a backroom of her father’s drug store, Public Drug Store on Park Avenue. Magnolia was very active in several community organizations, which included the Grow & Show Garden Club, Criterion Club, Questers Club, Ya-Ya Sister’s Birthday Club and several bridge clubs. She had a siblings bridge club where they dined on tuna fish, deviled eggs and bloody mary’s and fought over a 10 cent bridge pot which was the highlight of their week. She also had a lifelong passion for antique shopping. Magnolia loved going “junking” with her sister Nita where they would playfully debate over who would nab the best antique of the day. Magnolia was devoted to her family which included her children, grandchildren, friends and her standard poodles. She is preceded in death by her parents Ancil Brown Adkins, Sr. and Magnolia Juanita Brennan Adkins; brothers, Brown Adkins, Jr. and Laurence Adkins and sister, Nita Clare Ridgway. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Dan Hamby, Jr.; daughter, Magnolia Juanita Hamby; sons, Daniel B. Hamby, III and Scott Edward Hamby (Andrea); sister-in-law Joan Adkins; grandchildren, Megan Johnson, Dillon Johnson, Melissa Hamby and Maddy Hamby. Magnolia is also survived by several nieces, nephews, numerous dear friends and her beloved poodle, Misty Blue. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the doctors, nurses and staff at Arkansas Hospice. Magnolia had three lovely caregivers, Ann Godwin, Davina Baker and Brede Webb who were there every step of the way. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church. A celebration of Magnolia’s life will take place Weds. 22nd at 10:30 A.M. in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Mattox officiating. A private internment will immediately follow the service. |

Obituary: Mark Alan Hamby, age 52 of Conway, went to be with the Lord on , 27, 2016. He was born 18, 1963 in Flint, Michigan to Junior David Hamby and Betty Norine Bryant Hamby. He was a 1981 graduate of Linden High School in Linden, Michigan where he lettered in football and was an all-state wrestler. Mark later graduated from ITT Tech in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He owned Marks Custom Car in Conway, Arkansas and was passionate about restoring vehicles. He was a loving father and is survived by two sons, Daniel Alan Lee Hamby of Grand Blanc, Michigan, Andrew David Alan Hamby and husband Samy Rash of Sherwood; two sisters, Cynthia Hering and husband Craig of Fenton, Michigan, Sharon Rose and husband Thomas of Conway; parents, Junior and Betty Hamby of Conway; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and a great-nephew that he loved very much.
