Obituary: Margie King de la Houssaye passed away in Little Rock Arkansas on 9, 2011 at the age of 92. Margie was born in Tampa Florida on 23, 1919, to Andrew Jackson King and Anna Lawton Jaudon King. Her Father was born in Kings Ferry, Florida on 31, 1865. Her Mother was born in Lawtonville, South Carolina on 9, 1880. The youngest of six children, Margie was predeceased by her five King brothers. Margie began her education in Tampa at a school named "Glory", in 1925. She attended Ballast Point Grammar School and Jr. High, and later graduated from Plant High School. She then studied business at Brewster Vocational School until 1937. Throughout her early years she was a member of Ballast Point Baptist Church in Tampa, Florida. In 1938 Margie moved to New Orleans to study nursing at Southern Baptist Hospital, where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1941. She practiced as private duty RN until 1975. In of 1939, while studying nursing, she met Howard Louis de la Houssaye, who was born in New Iberia, Louisiana on 13, 1905. married 4, 1940 in New Orleans where they would reside. Howard passed away on 20, 1988. Margie remained in New Orleans until 2004, when she moved to Little Rock, Arkansas to be closer to her children. Margie and Howard had three children: James Louis de la Houssaye, who resides with his wife, Julie, in Vienna, Virginia; Jon Wayne de la Houssaye, who resides with his wife, Robyn, in Little Rock, Arkansas; and Gayle Marie de la Houssaye who resides in Eureka Springs, Arkansas; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a faithful member of Edgewater Baptist Church in New Orleans and Oak Park Baptist Church in Little Rock. She was also a member of NARF Chapter 93, and a member of AARP Chapter 2362. This past year she has lived at Andover Place in Little Rock and had come to know and love many people there, including other residents, as well as the staff and caregivers. She loved and enjoyed her family and friends, along with her Church, love of music, playing piano, sewing, cooking, gardening and so much more. Margie was a loving wife, mother, and friend, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her; she lived her life doing for others. Relatives and friends are invited to the Jacob Schoen & Son , 3827 Canal St. New Orleans, LA 70119 on , 28th, at 10 AM, followed by a Service beginning at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens 11316 River Road Saint Rose, LA 70087-3700. Obituary: Shirley Mae Segretto House 74, passed away at home on 15, 2017, with her two children and three grandchildren by her side. Shirley was born 13, 1942 in New Orleans were she spent her whole life. She grew up going to the Fairgrounds helping care for her father and grandfathers race horses. She had a strong love for horses. She loved to dance and was good at it. She won multiple dance competitions at the Lions . She ran a successful catering business, baked cakes for all occasions and was a hairdresser for many years. Shirley had a love for cooking which she got from her parents and shared that love with her husband and they passed that love down to their children. She met the love of her life in high school and lost him to cancer when she was just 39 and became very independent after that. Shirley published and dedicated a cookbook to her late husband in 2012. She was very proud of that accomplishment. She enjoyed sewing, painting, making handmade cards and feeding the squirrels at the fly. She loved spending time with her family and always enjoyed days sitting in her rocker on the front porch greeting anyone who would walk by. Shirley had a one of a kind personality and was loved by so many. She was loving, caring, independent and downright sassy in the best way! Shirley was many things in her lifetime, but her three biggest accomplishments were being a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. We love you more. A special thank you to the selfless and caring individuals, who sat with her, took care of her, helped guide her and put her mind at ease for her last few months with us. Shirley Mae is survived by her children, Charles Davis House Jr.(Janice)and Gwen House Hymel(James), her grandchildren Amanda Mae (Nicholas), Jessica Mae (Christopher), Michael James, and her three sisters Leonardine "Deanie" Allemand(Harris Sr.), Rosemary "Rosie" Doll (David Sr.), and Geraldine "Gerry" Cook(John Sr.). She also is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews along with great nieces and great nephews. She is proceeded in death by her loving husband, Capt. Charles Davis House Sr. and her parents Salvador Sam Segretto and Alice Mae Gaudet Segretto. A memorial service will be held in her honor for relatives and friends on 25th from 11-1 followed by a eulogy mass at Lake Lawn , 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd (in Metairie ). In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to the Dementia Society of America, the Alzheimer's Association, or the American Heart Association.
