Obituary: Lake Charles- James Dewey Hensley, 86 passed away May 22, 2011 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hensley was born in Grand Junction, Tennessee on 8, 1924. He served in WWII from 1943- 1946 in the Navy as a Machinists Mate, Second Class in the Pacific Theatre. He received the Asiastic-Pacific medal, Philippine Operations medal (1 star), Victory medal, and the American Theatre medal. He graduated from University of Tennessee in 1948 and taught agriculture for Shelby Tennessee School Board for 3 1/2 years. He came to work at Cities Service in 1952 and retired in 1982. He served as School teacher and Deacon at East Ridge Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Mary Jane Hensley; children, Craig Hensley and wife Donna, Larry Hensley, Nancy Davison, Linda Rainwater and husband Paul; 7 grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters, Frances Gowan and husband Jo Ray of Grand Junction, TN and JoAn Morris of Southaven MS. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. , May 24, 2011 at Hixson of Lake Charles. Rev. Alan Weishampel will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. and 8 a.m. till time of service. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Obituary: services for Don Hensley, 80, will be conducted at Hill Crest Chapel, at 2:00 pm, , 1, 2010, with Rev Paul Carroll officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park, with Full Military Honors. Visitation will be , 31, 2010 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. at the Hill Crest . Mr. Hensley entered into rest 28, 2010. He retired from the US Air Force after 25 years and second retirement was from General Motors. He was a member of Barksdale United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and his son, Steve. Don was a loving husband to his wife Betty for 58 years, and he was loved dearly by his family and many friends. He enjoyed the outdoors and traveling with Betty to 49 of the 50 states . Don was survived by his wife, Betty; brother, Gene Hensley and wife Peggy; children, Linda Kay Jones and her husband, Carl and Donald Hensley and his wife, Kathy; grandchildren, Jennifer, Elizabeth and husband Jimmy, Jason, Jonathan and wife Randi, and Steve; great grandchildren, Hannah, Serina and Mason. Pallbearers will be Clifton Engi, Russell Engi, Bob Horne, Dan Resendez, Tommy Benson and Doc Basham.
