Obituary: services for Mildred Byram Hendrix, 90, of Bernice will be held at 10:00 A. M. on , 19, 2014, at Weldon Baptist Church in Bernice, LA, with Bro. Harve Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow at Sharon Baptist Church under the direction of Farrar of Farmerville. Mildred was born 15, 1924, and passed from this life on 14, 2014, in Bernice, LA. She was a lifelong resident of Union Parish & a member of Weldon Baptist Church. Mildred graduated from Spearsville High School in 1942. high school, the country was at war and she, like women of her generation, joined the war effort by working in the munitions plant in Minden, LA. She then attended School at St. Francis Hospital in Monroe, LA, and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Ruston Hospital & later Bernice Hospital until retirement. Her hobbies included fishing, working in her yard, crocheting, and traveling. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry & Irma Byram; sister-in-law, Dorothy Nell Byram; nephew, James Keith Byram, Jr; and brother-in-law, Malvin Hendrix. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Max Travis Hendrix, of Bernice, LA; daughters, Wanda Gail Hendrix Freedman of Baton Rouge, LA, and Marsha Hendrix Walker and husband Randy of Bernice, LA; 3 grandchildren, Tiffany Elizabeth McGuire of New Orleans, LA, Jason Lee Walker and wife Stephanie of Bernice, LA, and Jamie Walker Smith and husband Bob of Hockley, TX; and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Keith Byram and wife, Rose, of Bernice, LA; a sister , Carolyn Byram of Pineville, LA; sister-in-law, Carleen Madix and husband, Keith, of Bernice, LA; and 6 nephews. Obituary: Max Travis Hendrix, known affectionately by all who knew and loved him, as PawPaw Max, was born on Sept. 6, 1925 to Carl and Mae Hendrix. He entered into his eternal rest on 6, 2017 at the age of 91. He was predeceased by his wife, Mildred; his parents; a brother, Malvin; and nephew Terry. Max is survived by 2 daughters, Wanda Freedman of Baton Rouge, and Marsha Walker & husband Randy of Bernice; a sister, Carleen Madix & husband Keith of Bernice; 3 grandchildren: Tiffany McGuire of New Orleans, Jason Walker & wife Stephanie of Bernice, and Jamie Smith & husband Bob of Waller, TX; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; 4 nephews, and 3 very special caregivers, Nicole Levingston, Jackie Hunter, and Jo Welch. He also leaves a host of friends. Max was a WWII Navy Veteran having served his country in the Pacific Theater. He was a retired chicken grower and cattle farmer. He loved working with his cows until he was physically unable to continue. He was a man of few words with a huge heart. He dearly loved his family and was dearly loved by all. services will be 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Weldon Baptist Church near Bernice, LA with Bro. Harve Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow at the Sharon Baptist Church near Hico, LA under the direction of Farrar in Farmerville. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. on evening at Weldon Baptist Church. Obituary: Obituary of Linda Jean Flessa Hendrix (Passes away on 18, 2011) Linda Jean Flessa was born on May 25, 1942 in Iowa Falls, Iowa. She was the first of two children, both daughters, of Robert and Cecil Flessa. She graduated with honors from her high school and went on to college where she was to meet her future husband Jerry Hendrix. completing one year of college Linda and Jerry married on 8, 1961. The couples first child Dawn was born in the following year. A son Robert followed in 1966. Following Jerrys graduation in 1963, they spent the next 20 years with Jerry serving in the U. S Air Force. Jerrys retirement, Linda obtained her undergraduate degree in Library Science and her Masters degree in the same field. She worked both for the Bossier City and Fort Worth Library systems as a greatly appreciated childrens librarian. She truly enjoyed working with children. This love of working with children continued after her retirement. She returned to Bossier and volunteered her time to work with children through CASA. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and son Robert. Surviving Linda besides Jerry is her sister Dianne, daughter Dawn Hendrix, Grandsons Christopher and Jeremy Lott, and Great Granddaughter Adelyn Elizabeth Lott. Obituary: Cora Derouen Hendrix, age 82 of Grand lake passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on , 15, 2014. Cora was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family very much. Prior to marriage she was employed by Bell Telephone as an operator. She loved the family get-togethers and loved taking lots of pictures. Cora was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Creole until Hurricane Rita relocated her to Grandlake. She is currently a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Mary Olive #1463 where she held numerous positions. Visitation will be held , 17, 2014 at Hixson in Lake Charles from 4:00PM until 10:00 PM with a rosary at 6:30PM. The visitation will continue on at the funeral home at 8:30AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Christ the King Catholic Church, at 10:30AM. Burial will follow at Grand lake Community in Sweet Lake. She is survived by her children; Renee Hendrix of El Sobrante, CA, Terry Hendrix & wife Debbie of Carlyss, Tamara Nunez of Grandlake, Craig Hendrix & wife Gerri of Grandlake, Holly La Jaunie & husband Perry of Creole, one sister, Clara Belle Henry, and one brother, Buddy Derouen, both of Fannette, Texas. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren with 4 more great-grandchildren on the way. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years; E. R.
