Obituary: Bernard George Housemeyer, 91, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away at 5:00 PM, , 3rd, 2017 at his residence. Bernard was born in Ohio , IN on 27, 1925, a son of the late Julia (Neaman) and George Housemeyer. He was a graduate of Rising Sun High School, Class of 1943. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II. Bernard worked as a tugboat Captain at Indiana-Michigan Electric Co. in Lawrenceburg, IN for over 38 years, but was always a farmer at heart. On 23rd, 1948 he married Alberta Anderson at the 1st Evangelical & Reformed Church in Aurora, IN. Bernard and Alberta were married over 68 years. He was a member of the Rising Sun First United Church of Christ. Bernard was a very active member of the Rising Sun Lions Club for many years, as well as the American Beef Association and the Indiana Simmental Association. Bernard enjoyed farming, raising cattle, coaching and playing ball. Family was the most important thing to Bernard and he looked forward to the fall hay rides and going to any activity his grandchildren were involved with. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many. Bernard is survived by his loving wife Alberta Housemeyer of Rising Sun, IN; by two daughters, Cindy Cobb(Steve) of Carmel, IN and Denise Wilber(David) of Columbus, IN; by a son, Doug Housemeyer(Diane) of Carmel, IN; by grandchildren, Mark Cobb (Katy), Alissa Moody (Aaron), Jeron Wilber (Crystal), Matthew Housemeyer (Lauren) and Griffin Housemeyer (Melissa) and by great grandchildren, Noah Wilber, Gadson Cobb, Lola Rose Cobb, Grady Cobb, Parker Moody and Izzie May Moody. Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, by a son, Randy Housemeyer in 1976, by brothers, Ralph & Orville Housemeyer and by a sister, Maritta Kruse. services will be 11 AM, , 7th at the Markland in Rising Sun, IN with Pastor TeriLynn Stackhouse officiating. Obituary: Selma (Douglas) House, 84, of Evansville, completed her earthly journey , 1, 2013, at Braun , where she had lived for the last three years. A graduate of Bosse High School and Evansville (now University of Evansville), Ms. House became a chemist at Mead Johnson, and later worked for the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation as a substitute teacher. She was also a chemist for National Laboratories. Later she retired from Evansville Christian Education. Selma was a lifelong participant in Scouting, being a leader in the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts local councils. She was a leader in the Sunset Indian Dance Explorer troop. She was a member of the Tecumseh Lodge, and shared her knowledge and heritage as a Native American with adults and children, as well as participating in local Native American dance and rituals. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Lilly Douglas; and her former husband, Bobby House. Selma is survived by her sister, Laura Miller; daughter, Sandra Sunni Zimmer (Jay); sons, Robert Bubba Charles House (Karen) and James House (Kate); nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren, all of Evansville. Services will be 10:00 AM , 4, 2013, at Alexander East Chapel, with burial in Oak Hill . Friends may visit from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
