Obituary: Jasper C. Jay Henson, 73, passed away at his home on May 12, 2016, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born om 13, 1943 in Corning, AR to Isaac Henry and Eula Faye (James) Henson. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers: Virgil, Bill, Noah, Bearl, Gearl and Don; one daughter, Jennie Lowry and one son, Jay Leon Henson. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruth White Henson; daughter Leslie Weeks (fiancé Russell Kalata); daughter-in-law, Sandra Henson (fiancé Glen Robinson); son-in-law, Stacy Lowry (fiancé Caroline Howard); eight grandchildren: Alysia, Amanda, A.J., Chad, Amber, Corie, Kyra, Jay, Zachary, and Alex; seven great grandchildren; aunts, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews he loved. Jay attended Prairie School in Tipton Co. Later he received his G.E.D. and took classes at Ivy Tech. He joined the National Guard, but a week before leaving for Basic Training, he was thrown from the passenger seat of a car and broke his neck. Doctors said he would never walk again. With steadfast determination, he did walk. He was a jack-of-all trades. He was employed at Continental Steel Mill, Ace Hardware, Tipton Co. Surveyors Office, he built houses, was an auto mechanic, and co-owner of a bait store. In the late 70s, he was a member of the Ind. Alligators CB Club, and was known as Jay Hawk. The club had fund raisers to earn money to have parties for the children at Bona Vista. During the blizzards of 1977 and 1978, he was a volunteer for the Red Cross, and dispatched snow mobiles and 4 wheelers for those in need. He was also in charge of organizing Sycamore School as an emergency shelter. About this time, he was also a volunteer for the Civil Defense. Jay enjoyed riding horses. He sometimes played drums in his brother Bearls band. He loved dressing as Dracula for Halloween so much he volunteered many years for the Jay Cees Logansport, and Kokomo haunted house. He helped build the sets, make costumes, and taught them how to apply makeup. His artistic accomplishments became widely known, and impressed T.V. icon, Sammy Terry to make an appearance at the Kokomo Haunted House Grand Opening; by arriving in Jays personal hearse. He loved fishing. retiring, he found pleasure in woodworking, and became very good at it. He often said, You have to work through the pain, and get on with living. His wishes were to be cremated. Obituary: Cynthia Ann Henson, 61, of Greensburg, passed away on , May 11, 2016, at the Arbor Grove Village. Cynthia was born on May 10, 1955, in Michigan City, Michigan, the daughter of Richard and Dorothy Woodworth. She married John Henson on 25, 1994, in Penntown, IN. Survivors include her Husband John, her Daughter Kelly (Chester) King of Greensburg, two Sons - Paul Vanderpool of New Point and Daniel Vanderpool Jr. of Wabash, IN, one Sister - Diane Shivo, two Brothers - Michael and Pat Woodworth, and four Granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and five brothers. Cynthia worked at Houck Industrys in Greensburg for several years. She enjoyed nature including fishing, camping, cookouts and most importantly spending time with friends and family. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11AM until the start of the funeral service at 12PM on , May 16, 2016, at the Gilliland-Howe with Fr. John Meyer officiating.
