Obituary: Kelly Russ Hicks, 58 of Lyndon, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on , May 12, 2021. Russ was born on 16, 1962 in Sterling, the son of Kelly E. and Lois (Davis) Hicks. He was from the class of 1981 at Prophetstown High School, and later attained his CDL. Russ was affectionately known as The Cheese Man, and operated his business Got Cheese? In his younger years, Russ loved playing baseball along with his father as the coach of their American Legion team. Russ enjoyed watching Dallas Cowboy football, playing the guitar, tinkering around with small motors, and also loved a good scary movie. He also enjoyed the outdoors, holidays and cookouts, but most of all he loved spending time with family. Survivors include one daughter, Amanda Thomas; one son, Anthony Thomas; three sisters, Sharon Hicks of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Joan (Mike) Smith of Sterling, and Tracy (Will) Shaffer or Prophetstown; one brother, Gregory Hicks of Rock Falls; two grandchildren, Maycie and Maddyn Hicks of Prophetstown; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog and best friend Taz. Russ was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Sandra Hicks. Cremation rites will be accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00-2:00pm on , May 22, 2021 at McDonald , 46 Grove St, Prophetstown, IL. Memorial service will follow at 2:00pm, with Reverend Barbi E.E. Momolu, Sr. officiating. |
