Obituary: Vallie Mae Helton, age 87, resident of Columbus, passed away on , 18, 2015 at Magnolia Manor, Columbus. Graveside services are scheduled at Parkhill , 4161 Macon Road, Columbus on , 25, 2015, 11 a.m., according to Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on , 24, 2015 from 5-7 and also immediately following the graveside service at the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on , 25, 2015 till 1 p.m. Mrs. Helton, daughter of the late Oscar Corley and Mary Hand Corley, was born 11, 1927 in Columbus. She was a member of University Avenue Assembly of God. She served faithfully as Manager of Sherwood Arms Apartments in Columbus for over 30 years. As Manager, she helped many in need throughout her life and career. She loved to help ones she came across that were in need of guidance and helped many find their way in life. The residents at Sherwood Arms thought of her as a mother and she treated all of them as her children. Mrs. Helton was a very devoted mother to all her boys. She always went above and beyond for any and all of their needs. All that knew her, will miss her greatly. Many of them will be lost without her. She made a tremendous impact on anyone that knew her. Mrs. Helton was preceded in death by her first husband, Buford Padgett (father of all her boys); second husband, George Helton whom she was married to for 30 years; sons, Fred Padgett, Jimmy Padgett, and Donnie Padgett.; and grandson, Ronnie Padgett. She is survived by three sons, Buford Padgett and his wife Nancy, Michael Padgett, Big Jimmy Padgett, all of Columbus ; four grandchildren, Tony Padgett and his wife Claudia of Florida, Cynthia Jordan and her husband Lance of Columbus, Donald Padgett of Dallas, Texas, and Amanda Dockum and her husband Anthony of Houston, Texas; many great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Obituary: Rev. James E. Helton, Sr., age 82, of Winder, Georgia passed away 20, 2015 at his residence. He was born 21, 1933 in Bethlehem, Georgia to the late Leon and Erma Parr Helton. Rev. Helton was a heavy equipment operator with Local 926 Operating Engineers. He was of the Baptist denomination. Surviving are Wife, Carolyn Burnette Helton, Children, Lisa Kennedy, Ann Greeson, Jimmy Helton and Christina Cook all of Winder, Mark Helton of Bethlehem, Sister, Linda Perry of Winder, Brother, Terry Helton of Bethlehem, Twelve Grandchildren and Eight Great Grandchildren. A Service will be held , 23, 2015 at 1:00 P. M. from the Chapel of Carter with Rev. Heath Kennedy officiating. Interment will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. Obituary: Ottilie (Dolly) Goldmann Helton, 90, passed away on , 17, 2015 at home in White, Georgia. The day God sent his daughter into the world is the same day he called her home 90 years later. Dolly was born 17, 1925 in Kassel, Germany, to Karl and Lina (Traumuller) Goldmann. She married William Helton, an American soldier stationed in Germany, on 24, 1952. William preceded her in death on May 10, 1980. Dolly was a member of the Salvation Army Church. She loved to dance and was a member of the Boot Scooters, a performing dance group. Dolly also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe. Singing, Playing the harmonica and enjoying nature were a few of her favorite activities. Dolly is survived by two children, Robert Helton and Carolyn Tinsdale; three grandchildren,, Jennifer Rocque, Rhonda Scott and William Luzar; eight great-grandchildren, Erica Ward, C.J. Swindell, Cody Scott, Tyler Scott, Travis Luzar, Heather Luzar, Gabie Luzar and Levi Luzar; great-great grandchildren, Naomi Ward, Ryland Luzar and Bailey Luzar. Mrs. Helton was preceded in death by one sister, Klara, and two brothers, Willi and Armon. Services will be private and held at a later date. She will be buried with her late husband, William, at Gilley in Cross Plains, Georgia. Owen , 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, Georgia is in charge of the arrangements. |
