Obituary: Jerry Harold Hames, age 72, passed away on , 21, 2015. Mr. Hames was born on 7, 1943 in Atlanta, GA, son of the late Joseph Harold Hames and Lady Iris Sparks Hames. Mr. Hames proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and received a National Defense Service Medal as well as a Good Conduct Metal. He had a passion for music and loved singing in his church choir. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a devoted Christian and a true servant of the Lord. He is preceded in death by his wife of forty-six years, Jerry Wagner Hames. Survivors include his sons, Thomas Hames (Rena) of Rockmart, GA and Keith Hames (Melissa) of Cartersville, GA; daughter, Wanda Olson (Randall) of Cartersville, GA; grandchildren, Stephanie Stephens (John), Jadon Olson, Aaralyn Olson, Collin Ellison, Chase Hames, Mackenzie Hames, Stephanie Holcomb (Brent), Jessica Robinson (Micheal), Brandon Holliday, Karen Lacombe; great-grandchildren, Landon Stephens, Drew Robinson, Jacob Williams, Caleb Williams and Brooklyn Bearden. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at twelve o’clock in the afternoon on , 30th in the Chapel of Owen with Rick Moyer officiating. Interment will follow in Georgia National at two o’clock in the afternoon with military honors being presented. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to service time at Owen . Obituary: Duard Delk "Buck" Hames, Sr., age 63, passed away on , 30, 2017. Buck was born on 27, 1953 in Marietta, GA, son of Margaret Hames and the late Harry Owen Hames. Buck retired from the phone company after thirty-seven years of dedicated employment. He was a civil war re-enactor since the age of nineteen and was also an active member of the Euharlee Mason Lodge. He loved to work with his hands and met head on all of life's challenges. He is preceded in death by his son, Little Buck; sister, Peggy. Obituary: Captain W.A. Hamby, Jr., age 69, of St. Simons Island, died , 28, 2011 at Hospice of the Golden Isles. Mr. Hamby was a native of St. Simons Island. He was a member of the Boilermakers local 26 and the boat captain for Neal Pope on the Sterling II. He was preceded in death by his father, Willis Alvin Hamby, Sr., his mother, Betty Grace Hamby, his sisters, Betty Hamby Lusher and Vera Hamby Warner, and a nephew, Alvin Lusher. He is survived by two sons, David and Daniel Hamby of St. Simons Island; a sister, Carol Hamby Heffernan (Robert) of Duntroon Ontario, Canada; four nieces, Grace Wraggs, Paula Lusher, Gayle Eckerd and Tyra Hilliard; two nephews, Martin Warner and Todd Gunnell; and a friend, Nancy Lawman of Tampa. A graveside memorial service will be held , 5 at 12:00 pm at Oglethorpe Memorial . Honorary pallbearers will be Jamie Pearson, Brian Smith, Teddy Elrod, Jeff Stokes, Doc Jones and Michael Lay. Obituary: William Edward Hamby of Marietta, Georgia died 25, 2011 at the age of 94 after a short illness. He was married to the late Eunice Georgia Floyd of Lake City, South Carolina for 64 years. Mr Hamby was born 21, 1917 in Athens, Tennessee and resided there until moving Marietta in 1972. Mr Hamby was the son of James Earl and Rosa Webb Hamby of Athens. He served as a Captain in the US Army during World War II and was a member of B, 117th Infantry, 30th Infantry Division. the war he was elected in 1946 as McMinn Circuit Court Clerk on the GI Ticket during the famed Battle of Athens. Mr Hamby was self employed and active in real estate construction and development in Cobb , Georgia and Tennessee. He was a member of the Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Hamby is survived by a son, James E. Hamby of Marietta and a daughter Rosalinde H. Collier of Acworth, sister, Earlane Lawson of Athens, TN; four grand children, Cynthia H. Webster of Mobile, Alabama, Craig E. Hamby, Adrienne C. Knox and Eric Allen Collier all of Marietta and five great grand children. Mr. Hamby was preceded in death by a brother T.C. Hamby of Leesville, South Carolina. Visitations will be from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on , 28, 2011 at the H.M.
