Obituary: Fred passed away Jan. 29, 2015. He leaves his wife of 33 yrs., Joyce Guentert; 2 daughters; 4 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He retired from the US Post Office after 45 yrs. In 1971, he became a potentate of Bahia Temple. He was a Shriner for 55 yrs. and a Master Mason for 65 yrs. He was the beloved Freddie Q the Clown. He loved Egyptian studies so much he hand-carved his own Egyptian coffin in which he was buried. And most important, he is responsible for bringing The Silent Messenger to Life which, stands tall in front of many Temples and Shrine Hospitals. Obituary: Russell S. Guensch was born on 12, 1924 in Reading, PA to Esther Shollenberger Guensch and passed away on 14, 2014 in Fort Myers, FL. He is survived by his wife Bonnie (Bibic) Guensch; son Gregory R. (Carin) Guensch; grandchildren Heather, Brian, Braxton, and Sydney; great grandchildren Anastasia, Nichole, Mason, Brett, and Drew; stepdaughters Stephanie Hendricks and Jennifer (Rahman) Turner; and step grandchildren Jace and Vaughn; and his three canine best friends Gus, Fiona, and Echo. He is preceded in death by his son Russell (Rusty) Guensch, his daughter Jamie Gable, and son in law Fred Gable. Russ grew up in Reading, PA and attended Albright , University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pittsburgh with the help of academic and basketball scholarships. Before Russ entrance into the military, he played professional basketball with the Reading Eagles. He attained his Masters Degrees in Math and Chemistry. He was a WWII Veteran with the US Navy as a Naval Aviator and served from 1942-1946. He was also a US Coast Guard Captain. Russ was an avid reader, had a love for sudoku puzzles, and remembered every joke he had ever heard. He enjoyed boating on his 40 ft sailboat Littlebit which was the love of his life and spending time with his family. Russ was Master Mason in PA, he was a Bell Telephone Pioneer, a member of the Cape Coral Sailing Club and the Power Squadron of Cape Coral. A memorial celebration of Russ life will be held in NJ at a later date. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Fuller Metz . Obituary: We were blessed for many years to have had Sophie Ann Stasko Kratt Guendelsberger in our lives. She received an offer from above on , 29, 2016, one she didn't want to refuse, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. She is in a wonderful place enjoying making her homeland pierogis, halupki and kapusta with her siblings, Ann Warcholak, Katherine Obliskey and John Stasko. We know she is stepping high to her favorite Polka music with husband, Harold Guendelsberger and the gardens of heaven are delighting in her green thumb talents. You can rest assured she is pulling weeds to her heart's content. A rich heritage, Sophie's parents moved to the USA entering through Ellis Island. Born to Micheal and Maria Stasko in Mount Union, Pennsylvania, on 12, 1923, Sophie grew up with her siblings, John, Katherine, Anne and Harry. She loved to share a childhood memory of her "coveted job" of watching the family cow to make sure it did not stray. She led a simple life and eventually moved to New York City with her sisters. Sophie's beauty was angelic and caught the eye of a very lucky sailor, Roy Kratt while visiting Coney Island in the 1940's. Not too long after this, they married and started their family. Being the wife of a Sailor brought many moves throughout the United States and over these same years her family grew to five children. In the late 1950's Sophie's family moved to Key West Florida and her love of the warm Florida climate began. So in 1962, she and husband decided to put down some permanent roots and were amongst the first pioneers moving to Cape Coral and buying a home from Gulf American. When the children got older, she entered the work force, starting at the Surfside Restaurant. Over the years she worked at Top O Mast on Sanibel and later at Palmetto Pines Country Club. She later remarried and built a beautiful home that she and husband, Harold were so proud to share with family and friends. At the ripe age of 90, Sophie was welcomed into the home of her son, Robert. No doubt, it was about time someone wait on Sophie for a change. Sophie was well known for her sweet tooth and her love of chocolates with nuts and Publix donuts. While she never had to worry about gaining weight her entire life, the best part of where she is now, is that she will never have to take off her sweater to make sure she doesn't tip the scale at the doctor's office. We know she will surely miss all her social engagements with the many wonderful doctors and nurses that have taken care of her over all her 92 plus years. There wasn't one of them that didn't say how sweet she was, in fact all that knew her said the same! It was the consensus for anyone who knew Sophie. Those who knew her also knew that she like to give instruction particularly in driving and her Daughter-in-law smiled as she "drove Ms. Sophie" around town. So as no surprise now, she has left some final instructions for her brother, Harry Stasko of Paramus her children Robert (Nancy), Richard, and Ron Kratt of Cape Coral, Gary Kratt of Brooksville, Meredith (John) Rodgers of Pensacola, her beloved grandchildren (Stephen, Ryan, Aaron, Jessica, Quintin, Alison, Kristie) great-grandchildren (Audrey, Lana, Amber, Morgan, Tyler, Katie) to celebrate her life. Low adherence to this instruction shall not be tolerated. We will remember her smile, her warmth, her energy, her love for life, family and friends. She worked very hard all her life. She always maintained her greatest treasures were her grandchildren, some of which fondly called her "Grandma Cheeseburger" an endearment that she adored and often bragged about. Obituary: Edward J. Guen died peacefully at home in Tarpon Springs, FL on 1st, under the care of Suncoast Hospice and surrounded by family. He was 85. Born to Dogan and Toy Len Chin Goon (immigrants from Taishan, Guangdong Province, China to Portland ME), he was the third of eight children. Ed worked along with his parents and siblings at their family hand laundry until he graduated from Deering High School in 1943. He was Vice President of his class and won the Rensselaer Bausch & Lomb award for excellence in math and science. working at the Bath Iron Works, he attended Bowdoin between 1945 and 1948, majoring in math and physics and graduated cum laude with as A.B. in the class of 1949. Under the 3-2 plan, he attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1948-1950 and received a B.S. in chemistry. In 1954 he received a PhD in chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he was a member of the Sigma Xi and Phi Lambda Epsilon Honorary Societies. Ed was a post-doctorate and research associate at Tufts University until 1959. Ed began his professional career as a chemist at National Research Corporation in 1959, and acquired increasing levels of responsibility over his 33 years of employment to become Director, Research & Development of capacitor-grade tantalum power which his company used in its innovative products; he earned two patents related to this process. NRC was acquired and re-acquired several times - finally by the Bayer Corporation, from which Ed retired in 1992. In 1994 Ed and his wife Amy moved from their home of over 30 years in Needham, MA to retire in Tarpon Springs, FL. Having grown up with humble beginnings, Ed devoted many years of community service in order to "give back" to society through charitable and non-profit organizations in the Greater Boston area. He served as President of five organizations: Action for Boston Community Development; South Cove Manor ; the Kwong Kow Chinese School, the Chinese Economic Development Council, and the Asian American Civic Association. He was a Trustee for the New England Aquarium and the Urban of Boston. Ed was an active volunteer for Bowdoin college through the BASIC (applicant interviewer) program, the Alumni Fund, and Planned Giving. At his 50th class reunion, Bowdoin recognized Ed with the Common Good Award, its highest recognition for service to the community. He was very proud to have three of his children graduate from Bowdoin, and to have a granddaughter currently in attendance. He is survived by Amy, his wife of 59 years; his three sons Leo, Michael, and Timothy; his daughter Theresa; and eight grandchildren. He was devoted brother to seven siblings: Dr. Carroll Goon, Josephine Moy, Arthur Len, Doris Wong, and Janet Louie, and the late Richard Len and Albert Len. A memorial mass will be celebrated on , 16th at 10:00 AM at the St. James the Greater Church in Boston.
