Obituary: GIESE, Joan, 76, of Tampa, entered into the presence of the Lord, 27, 2014. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, and lived in Queens where she met and married her husband of 43 years. In 1971, they moved their family to Tampa, where Joan became a dedicated employee of Maas Brothers until its closing in 1991. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Port Tampa, where she faithfully ministered to others and generously shared her gift of music as church pianist for 25 years. Her life centered around creating happy memories with her family and friends, especially on holidays and birthdays. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Giese, in 2007; sister, Kathleen Simmons; and infant brother, Paul Busch. She is survived by her son, Howard (Lori) Giese; daughter, Laura (Alex) Demid; sisters, Carol (Ron) Calverley, Barbara Garofolo, Sally (Dick) Finnerty; grandchildren, Stephanie (Justin) Cournoyer, Brittany Giese, Timothy Demid, John Demid, Joseph Demid, Stephen Demid; and great-grandson, Sean Cournoyer. Visitation will be held 9 a.m. \ 11 a.m., , 5th, at First Baptist Church of Port Tampa, 8306 Interbay Blvd., Tampa, FL 33616, with funeral service to follow immediately. She will be laid to rest at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens, Brandon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to the Suzanne Ciani Brain Cancer Foundation http://scbraincancer.org. Obituary: Ernest Ernie Giese, age 87, of Deerfield Beach, entered his Heavenly home on , 25, 2015. He passed away peacefully at Broward North surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with many illnesses. Ernie was born 3, 1927 in Waukesha, WI to the late Ernst and Catherine Giese. He graduated from Waukesha High School in 1945 and then served in the Army. Upon discharge, he married the love of his life, Orva (nee Koch) on 29, 1952. He worked for Golden Guernsey Dairy in Waukesha as a route salesman until 1973, when the family moved to Pompano Beach, Florida. In 1978, he found his real joy in real estate, as a successful Century 21 agent. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He loved to talk to people and was always willing to lend a helping hand and share his Christian faith. He was an active church member in Waukesha and Pompano Beach, holding numerous positions of church leadership. Ernie is survived by his beloved wife Orva of 62 years; Devoted daughters Teri Lynn (Barry) Fuentez, Winter Springs, Fla; Patti Johnson, Holly Springs, NC; Sally (Jeff) Hugo, Crawfordville, Fla; Nancy (Richard) Long, Deerfield Beach, Fla; Judy (Scott) Competiello, Ocala, Fla. Proud grandfather to Ryan (Denise) Johnson, Keith Johnson, Ashlei (Anthony) Martinez and Ashley Competiello; great grandfather to Parker and Olivia Johnson. He leaves behind a sister-in-law, brother-in-law, many nieces, nephews and friends that have been touched by his love and gentle spirit. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held , 3, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Kraeer chapel, 1199 NE 36th Street, Pompano Beach. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn with full military honors. The family will receive relatives and friends on , 2, 2015 from 7 to 9PM at the funeral home. Obituary: services for Yvonne Rae Gies, who dies 11, 2017 at Florida Hospital, Ormond Beach will be 12:00 p.m. , 1, at Saint Marys Catholic Church, Bunnell, FL. Interment will follow at Volusia Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, 31st at the Chapel of Volusia Memorial , Ormond Beach. Mrs. Gies was born in Buffalo, N.Y. and moved to the area in 2003 from Delray Beach. She was a former teacher for over 33 years at Atlantic High School, while finishing up her career serving in the office teaching home bound students. Prior to teaching she was a Registered Nurse. She loved playing golf and was an avid Florida Gator football, basketball, baseball and softball fan. She loved traveling to see her children and grandchildren and was more active in her last 10 years than most experience in a lifetime. She is survived by her children, Scott (Sheila), Fernandina Beach, FL, Russell (Helen), Eagle, CO, Gretchen (Dave) McDowell, Longwood, FL, Kurt (Lana), Oakland, FL, and Eric (KC), Rye, NY; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Hale, Douglas Gies, Kelli Gies, Cory Gies, Taylor Gies, Matthew McDowell, Sarah Gies, Katie Gies, Stephen Gies and Tommy Gies. Three bonus (step) grandchildren, Hailey Wilken, McKinley Wilken and Daniel Wilken. Three great grandchildren Ella Hale, Anna Hale, and Blake Hale.
