Obituary: Keith & Keith Lloyd (Bud) Garretson died in his sleep from complications to pneumonia , 16, 2016, at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Lloyd was born in Yakima Washington in , 1924, to James W. and Lois R. Garretson. He was named after his grandfather, who founded the Lloyd Garretson , a family orchard and packing operation that would last for four generations. He attended Marcus Whitman grade school on Naches Heights when it was a four room grade school. He graduated as salutatorian from Yakima High School, class of 1942. attending Washington State for a year, where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, he volunteered for the Army Air Corps. He spent over two years in training as a navigator and radar operator on a B29 aircraft. On 10, 1945 he married his college sweetheart Helen Grohs of Spokane and they lived several months in Clovis, NM. Lloyd was expecting to be called overseas at any time, but the war ended. In 1946 he was discharged and returned to WSC for three years to complete a college degree in Architectural Engineering, graduating with Honors. He moved his young family to Yakima after graduation. During the next eight years he worked for Walter Rothe, Architect, for United Builders, and then was self-employed. Upon his fathers sudden death in 1957, Lloyd joined his uncle John L. Garretson, and brothers James B. and JohnW. Garretson, in the LGCo fruit business. He continued also to practice residential architecture at his home office, designing dozens of homes around Yakima. He enjoyed both careers until his retirement in 1991. During these busy years Lloyd always found time to put family first. Activities included camping, hiking, Indian Guides, Boy Scouts and reading to the children. The family attended the First Congregational Church, for which Lloyd designed the school addition. He also served as a Deacon and as a Trustee, and sat on several committees. He later joined Wesley United Methodist Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees and helped with the recycling program for a few years. In retirement he enjoyed traveling with Helen and friends, gardening, hiking and reading. He especially enjoyed time spent at the cabin his grandfather built in 1922 on Chinook Pass.
