Obituary: In the early hours of 10, 2015, Bertha Marie Gifford of Front Royal, VA received her wings and passed peacefully at hospice in Arlington, VA. Born 4, 1932 in Bentonville, VA she was the daughter of the late John and Annie Jenkins. She was a longtime resident and avid walker in Front Royal and spent the past two and a half years socializing, getting her hair done, and living her days surrounded in comfort and love at Sunrise Senior Living in Oakton, VA. She was the thirteenth of fourteen children and is survived by: her two loving daughters, Donna Bogart (Brian) and Pamela Morris; grandchildren David Johnston (Jennings), Dustin Johnston, James Bogart (Ashley), Elisabeth Pafford (Andrew), and Jesse Johnston; Great Grandchildren Colton Johnston and Rhett Johnston; Sister Virginia Dawson. Being in Front Royal, Marie always had a special connection to Randolph Macon Academy and being able to watch her grandchildren grow and succeed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bogart/Johnston scholarship fund at RMA. Reference – Bogart/Johnston scholarship fund, 200 Academy Drive Front Royal, VA 22630. A memorial service will be held at Money and King 171 Maple Avenue West Vienna, VA 22180 on 19, 2015 from 6pm-8pm. A chapel service will be held on 20, 2015 at 11am at Money and King for all that would like to attend. |

Obituary: On 26, 2015 our family lost Audrey Lucille Mooney Gifford, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. She was a very quiet and private person, and she loved deeply. While we grieve her passing, we are able to take comfort in the fact that she has been reunited with family members who predeceased her: her son, Alan Gifford, her Granddaughter, Kali Poulton (Rochester, NY), her parents, Dorothy (Williams) and Francis Mooney (Forestport, NY) and her four brothers, Roland, Dennis, Maynard and Frank Mooney. For many years she lived in Alder Creek, NY and for the past 20 years, was a resident of Richmond, VA. She worked a variety of jobs throughout her life, including being a right hand to Dr. Smith in Boonville, NY. Her most notable career, however, was solely raising her children and playing an integral role in the upbringing of her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. By all names: Mom, Grandma, Oma, Mema & GG; you are loved and will be missed more than you will ever know. She is survived by four strong, independent and honorable children, for whom she was both mother and father; Wendy (Alex) Pohoreskey (Midlothian, VA), Judy (Floyd) Tosh (Bergen, NY), Francis (Kristin) Gifford (Richmond, VA) and Daniel (Rhonda) Gifford (San Tan Valley, AZ). Her legacy also includes six Grandchildren and their families (all in Virginia): Nicholas Pohoreskey (Liz), Michelle Harrison (Todd), Jessica Pohoreskey (Fiancé Greg Anderson), Gabrielle, Victoria and Adrian Gifford; two Great-Grandchildren (Regan & Liam) and she was excitedly awaiting the birth of a third Great-Grandchild. She is also survived by her Sister and Brother-In-Law, Patricia & Donald Evans (Alder Creek, NY), a special Sister-In-Law, Jean Mooney (Forestport, NY), various extended family members and several close friends. Rather than a formal service, her children and their families will celebrate her life privately. In lieu of flowers, the family greatly appreciates contributions to the research and treatment of Diabetes. |

Obituary: Wanda H. Giffin, better known as MawMaw for the past 33 years, went to be with the Lord on 21, 2016. Wanda was born in Maryville, TN on 26, 1923. When the world went to war in the 40s, Wanda rolled up her sleeves and went to work alongside the many women who supported the war effort by joining the work force. Wanda worked throughout the war at the Aluminum of America (Alcoa). the war she continued her employment while her husband Cledith (CC) attended the University of Tennessee. Wanda and CC moved to Richmond, VA in the 1950s where she became a housewife and mother, the role she was meant for in this life. From 1943 until the day she died she devoted her life to her husband, her children, grandchildren and great-grand child. She was the epitome of the word Mother. Wanda was preceded in death by her father and mother, Rosco and Lula Heaton, her husband, CC, her brother, Edwin Heaton and her granddaughter, Chelsea Western. She is survived by her son Brian K Giffin (Dorthy), her daughter Lisa A Western (Brad), grandchildren Ashley Giffin, Alex Western, Eric and Amy Giffin, Micah Miller, Alexandra Tomlin , Abby Schwartz, and great grandchild, Bryson Giffin. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2pm on , 27, 2016, at the Woody , Parham Chapel 1771 N. Parham Rd. Richmond, VA with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm and interment to follow at Westhampton Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the LifeNet Foundation. |
