Obituary: Vella Griguhn 1929 ~ 2015 Vella Noreen Gurr Hutchings Griguhn quietly passed away at home on May 21, 2015. Born 21, 1929 to Vera Berry Gurr Hutchings and Reuben Norton Gurr, who passed away in a mining accident before Vella was born, and was raised by Bert G. Hutchings, her dad. Vella grew up and attended schools in Lehi. meeting the love of her life, Lowell Pillip Griguhn they were married 22, 1948. were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple 19, 1963. Vella was a great example of a homemaker. She always had something to offer visiting family members, even if they weren hungry. She loved to knit and later learned to love crocheting. She had many church callings including Relief Society presidency and Primary teacher. Her last and most treasured calling was that of Primary pianist, which she held until New Years Eve when she broke her leg. Vella truly loved playing for the Primary and the children always held a special place in her heart. She held that position for many years. Vella and Lowell raised three sons, Phil (Ester), Kerry (Karma), and Kris (Sherri). had 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Vella is survived by her husband and sons; her brothers, Lynn Hutchings and B Kay Hutchings. Preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Carla Dean (who died shortly after birth). Vella is now enjoying a wonderful family reunion. services will be held 11 a.m. , May 27, 2015 at Lake Ridge 11th Ward, 7825 W. Sharon Dr. (3340 So.). Obituary: Emma Sargent Griggs 5, 1925 - 10, 2012 Our dear mother and grandmother, Emma Lucile Orton Houston Sargent Griggs passed away peacefully from causes incident to age on 10, 2012. Emma was born to Wilma Dodds and Samuel Orien Orton on 5, 1925, in Panguitch, Utah where she was raised with her brothers Bill and Frank and younger sister Sara. Her father was the owner of a saw mill located in the pass by Panguitch Lake, she spent her summers living there and winters living in town. She loved her family and her life growing up and spoke often of her many childhood experiences. She attended school in Panguitch where she was a cheerleader and participated in the school drum and bugle corp. She graduated in 1943 and after graduation married Gale Houston. were blessed with a son, Byron, and then were later divorced. She met and married Rulon Sargent in 1947. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Emma and Rulon lived and raised their family in Orem, Utah. Mom was a beautiful woman who filled our lives with love, laughter, and music. She was always actively engaged in creating a beautiful home for us. She was a hard worker, an immaculate homemaker and an excellent cook; all skills she learned at a young age working with her mother at the mill. We were blessed because of the things she learned and the way she lived her life. She was happy and loved to have her family and friends around her. We enjoyed family parties at her home eating, laughing and listening to her play her organ. Mom was very talented musically. She learned to play the piano at an early age, frustrating her teachers because she could play anything by ear. Later she transferred that talent to the organ. She taught lessons, took lessons and worked for a few years at the Hammond Music Store in Provo teaching new organ owners how to play their organs; a job she loved very much. She also worked at Clarks Travel Agency and loved traveling to different parts of the world. Mom was active in the community working for the rights of the handicapped, speaking to the legislature on two occasions. This was something she felt strongly about having a handicapped child of her own. She was untiring in the care of her dear daughter, Robyn, and was deeply saddened at her recent passing. are now reunited. Mom was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in all organizations and having a beautiful voice was usually found singing in the choir. She had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and emulated His teachings through her constant love and service to others. Moms life changed in 1981 with the sudden passing of her love, Rulon. She moved forward and was eventually introduced to a wonderful man Ronald Griggs. were married in 1988 and had 17 wonderful years together. Ron passed in 2005. Emma was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and daughter. She is survived by her siblings: Bill Orton, Frank Orton, Sara (Miles) Urie, sister-in-law, Effie Cherrington, and her children: Byron (Lynda) Sargent, Francene (Carl) Wood, Susan Gibbs, and Lisa (Jamie) Peterson, 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Summerfield Retirement and Envision for their gentle loving care over the last three years, especially Julie and Gensilvi. services will be held , 15, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sharon 3rd and 4th Ward Chapel, 700 East 400 S. in Orem, Utah. Obituary: Ruth Elizabeth Chadwick Griffiths, loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, passed away at age 92 on , 24, 2009, peacefully in her Spanish Fork home. Ruth was born 26, 1916, in Spanish Fork, Utah, a daughter of Thomas Harrison Chadwick and Mary Emma Nelson Chadwick. Ruth attended schools in Spanish Fork. She married her sweetheart, Frederick Griffiths, on 27,1934. Their marriage was solemnized in the Mt Timpanogos Temple. were married for 25 years, and had six children together. Ruth started working early in life. She worked on her uncles farm, She lived with and tended for her older sister. She picked berries. She worked at the Deseret Sewing Plant, Zions Upholstery, Osborn Apparel, Fritzis Clothing Factory, Utah Mattress Factory, an upholstery shop in Alpine, and she had an upholstery shop at her home. She worked at BYU Cafeteria & Morris ; and, at the MTC in Provo. She was also a Senior Companion. Ruth enjoyed her family. She loved to tell others about her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing. She was very talented in making things: bags, bean-bag chairs, pillows, afghans, blankets, doll dresses, stuffed animals, and enjoyed giving them away. She liked to take trips and she enjoyed taking others with her. She visited family and friends, seeing sights in New York, Florida, California, & Hawaii. She enjoyed the activities at the Senior . Obituary: Our kind, caring, soft-spoken, hardworking, father, son, grandson, and brother, Randy Joseph Joey Griffiths, returned to his Heavenly Father on , 4, 2006 at his home in Spanish Fork, Utah. He was born 27, 1980 in the Provo Hospital to Robert K. and Sandra Lee Griffiths. He became an experienced plumber and handyman. He enjoyed motorcycles, four-wheeling, camping, playing at the lake, and just being with friends and family at home. He enjoyed the time he had with his two children, Emily and Bailey, and hoped he could spend more time with them later in life. He stayed very close to his family and was always willing to help when he was needed. Obituary: MILDRED GLENN GRIFFITHS Mildred Glenn Griffiths, our beloved mother, wife, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on 16 in Provo, Utah at the age of 92. She was surrounded by her husband, Mel, and their children. Mildred was born 26, 1921 to Lee and Juanita Bott Glenn in Brigham City, Utah. During her school years there, she met Melvin Walter Griffiths, whom she later married on 5, 1944 in El Paso, Texas. moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in the early 1950s, where they raised their family and spent the next fifty years. later moved to Provo, Utah, to be near family members. Mildred had a great enthusiasm for life and her family, which was exhibited in many ways. First and foremost, she loved her family dearly and was the best mother and grandmother anyone could ever hope to have. She used her boundless energy to serve her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for the quality time she spent with each child and grandchild over many years. will never forget Las Vegas summer camps and rown-bag surprises; learning all the presidents, capitols, and the Gettysburg address; playing games and doing puzzles; practicing good manners; and being pampered by the pool. Her grandchildren bonded with her and continued to adore her throughout her life. As a young woman, Mildred became a fine pianist. She attended the University of Utah, where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. She and her brother, Lee Jay, were also members of the piano team at the U. were very close, and in speaking of Lee, she often recalled his loving care for her over many years. moving to Las Vegas, Mildred enjoyed Service League, golfing with her husband, gardening, and playing bridge with her friends. She also had talents for flower arranging and decorating her home, especially during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons. She enjoyed fashion, good books, American flags, beach trips and travel, daily walks, great art and music, and watching sports, especially tennis. She loved high heels, and they became her trademark. Mildreds family was her highest priority, and she was 100% supportive of her husband and children in anything they pursued. She was very patriotic with a deep love of her country and its history. She especially loved attending her grandchildrens baptisms, graduations, and weddings. Education was particularly important to her, and she was deeply committed to helping her children and grandchildren achieve their educational goals. Her generosity will always be remembered. Mildred was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and the plan of salvation. For a time, she was a temple worker in the Las Vegas Temple. She was always a wonderful example of Christ-like living and consistently put others needs above her own. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Juanita Glenn, and her brothers, r and Lee Jay Glenn. She is survived by her husband, Mel, and their three children: Anne (Steve) Stewart; Bill (Mary) Griffiths; and Marilyn (Griffiths) Alleman; by thirteen grandchildren: Bill (Symony) Griffiths, Robert Griffiths, Laura (Paul) Jaussi, Mark Griffiths, Daniel (Shari) Griffiths, Jane (Tad) Cunningham, John Stewart, Mary Anne Stewart, Susan (Ben) Rich, Jill (Behrad) Tabatabaei, Traci Alleman, John G. Alleman, and Diana Alleman, and close family friend, John B. Alleman. She is also survived by 22 great grandchildren. Mildred will be greatly missed by her family as well as her Provo and Jamestown friends. Known for her beautiful white hair and blue eyes, her radiant smile would light up any room; and those around her always felt her love for them. She was an elegant lady in every way.
