Obituary: Ruth Robbins Gamette Nov. 29, 1920 ~ 21, 2011 Ruth Robbins Gamette, 90, of Provo, Utah passed away 21, 2011, peacefully surrounded by her family. Ruth was born 29, 1920 to Ruelon and Mary Alta Robbins in Lindon, Utah. She graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. She married her sweetheart, Don Vernon Gamette, on 26, 1938 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She and Don lived in Orem; Bellevue, WA; Provo; and Saint George, UT. He preceded her in death on 18, 1992. Ruth loved family traditions and devoted her life to her family. She treasured her relationships with her grandchildren and their spouses always taking a great interest in their accomplishments. Ruth was known as a great caregiver blessing the lives of others by tenderly caring for ill friends and family including Don and their parents. Ruth was an elegant lady. Ruth loved reading, painting, quilting, crocheting, traveling, watching the news, and going for “a nice ride†with her husband. Her passion for books encouraged her children and grandchildren to love reading. Her heart always yearned for the warmth of Saint George. Ruth was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served in all its auxiliaries. She is survived by her children Leontine Gamette, daughter-in-law; Kent (Sharon) Gamette; LuAnn Gamette ; Leland (Hilda) Gamette: 14 grandchildren, and 45 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jay Gamette; sister Ada Adamson; and brother Harold Robbins. services will be held , 25, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Edgemont North Stake , 4560 North Canyon Road, Provo, Utah. Friends may call 24, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson , 646 East 800 North Orem, Utah. and from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the church prior to the services. Obituary: Leland A. Gamette 11, 1948 – 20, 2013 Leland A. Gamette, 65, passed away peacefully in Provo, Utah, surrounded by his loving family and friends on , Aug. 20, 2013, due to complications following an automobile accident. Leland was born in Provo on 11, 1948, to Ruth Robbins and Don Vernon Gamette, and spent his life living, working and serving in Provo. On 22, 1975, he married his eternal companion, Hilda Margaret Snow of Tauranga, New Zealand, in the Provo temple and became her rock and the love of her life. Leland is survived by his wife Hilda; his twin sister, LuAnn ; his brother, Kent (Sharon); his sister-in-law, Leontine; his two daughters, Jana (Jonathan Slothower) and Robyn (Matthew Hutchison); and his six grandchildren Madelyn, Jacob, Gideon, Nicholas, Benjamin and Elizabeth. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jay. Leland graduated from Provo High School and Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and he later earned a Master of Public Administration degree. In high school, he began working for Provo City as a draftsman. He later became the Director of Planning, the Executive Assistant to Provos mayor, the Director of Government and Community Relations, and the Director of Economic Development, where he ended his 37-year career at Provo City in 2009. Leland spearheaded Provos sister cities initiatives to Meissen, Germany, and Nanning, China. He was the Olympic Coordinator for the city for the Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympics and was a member of the 2002 Venue Cities Committee. At the time of his death, he was serving on the Planning Commission. Leland was Provo Citys most enduring ambassador and friend. Leland loved the Lord and served Him through a variety of callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including full-time missionary service in the Southwest Texas Mission. He served as the bishop of the Grandview 1st Ward and in the high council of the Brigham Young University Eighth Stake. At the time of his death, he and Hilda were serving as missionaries at the LDS Employment in Provo, and also as Stake and Ward Employment Specialists. services will be held at 1 p.m., , Aug. 24, 2013, at the LDS Grandview Chapel, located at 1551 N. 1350 W., in Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the same location , 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. or from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Provo City .
