Obituary: Frances Wolfson (Nordhaus) Gleitz, wife, mother and grandmother, was called home to be with the Lord on , 20, 2011 at the age of 79. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family and faithful friend, K.K. the cat. She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Edna Wolfson; husband Melford Gleitz; the fathers of her children, Jeff Nordhaus, and William Zinsmeister; and her grandson, Taylor Jeffrey Simpson. Frances grew up in San Antonio and attended Jefferson High School. She spent many years caring for others as a nurse. During her lifetime, her compassion and nurturing spirit led her to be known as Mama to many. She was generous to a fault, and was known to give away her last dollar to help someone in need. She led by example, demonstrating to her children an unconditional love, while also providing comfort, security and hope. In 1980, she married Mel Gleitz. started a new chapter in their lives and moved to Concan, Texas, where they built a beautiful log cabin. Frances came to know her Lord, Jesus Christ, during these years in the country. Her strong faith allowed her to spread the word of God to anyone needing encouragement or prayer. During these years in Concan, Frances embraced country life. She raised chickens and rabbits and even wrote a local gossip column for the Uvalde newspaper. In her later years, Frances was able to spend many joyful times with her family. She delighted to see her grandchildren and rejoiced in all of their many accomplishments. She will always be remembered for her compassion, generosity and endearing nature. Frances is survived by her four daughters, Eadye Simpson, Linda Mercer and husband Larry of South Carolina, Cindy Boo Peek and husband Bobby of Bulverde and Sari Luhrman and husband Tommy of Bulverde; her beautiful grandchildren, Travis, Casey and Carmen Mercer, Clay, Brittany, Cara and Cassidy Peek, and Tony (Kale), Ben (Katy), John and Maggie Luhrman; her brother, Dr. JeromeWolfson and wife Iris of Dallas; special friends Carl and Angie Allen and children, Carl Jr., and Gina. Special thanks to Nita Kaminski and Father Jimmy from St. Josephs Catholic Church, Vicki Tipton, Lori Scriven, Pat Whitley, Dr. Cynthia Saucedo and a special thanks to our brother Sandy Zinsmeister who shared his love, support and great humor with us at this difficult time. Gleiser while working at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Following his military career, she and her husband moved to San Antonio, where she was blessed with many wonderful neighbors and friends. Obituary: Bessie L. Jones Gleinser, 104, of Victoria passed away 15, 2011. She was born 2, 1907, in Ponta to the late John H. and Lela Dora Murphy Jones. Bessie retired from Easley Drug Store after many years in sales. She also worked at Cuero Cotton Mill where she was a cloth examiner. Bessie served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and was the oldest living WWII female veteran. She is survived by her niece, Linda Hewitt of San Antonio; nephew, James Wallace of Reklaw; half-sister, Marceline Simmons of Houston; half-brother, Bill Jones of Channelview; several great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband E. J. Gleinser, two sisters, one brother and two half brothers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p. m. , 16, 2011, at Rosewood Chapels. services will be held at 10 a. m. , 17, 2011, at Rosewood Chapels with Rev. John Heath and Rev. Obituary: Memorial services for Robert H. Gleghorn, age 91, of Tyler, will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on , 29, 2014, at Lloyd James in Tyler, with Rev. Stuart Baskin officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the services. Mr. Gleghorn died on , 25, 2014. He was born 14, 1923, to the late Henry and Rosa Gleghorn in Seymour, Texas where he attended public schools. He proudly served in the Navy during World War II and then graduated from Texas Tech in 1948. In 1950 he married Bertie A. Hill, with whom he had 64 blissful years together. He served as personnel manager with Flintkote , but most of his business career was spent in El Dorado, Arkansas with Monsanto where he served as personnel supervisor followed by many years supervising the safety department. Supplementing his business career, in 1954 he managed the El Dorado Legionnaires to an Arkansas undefeated AAU season, culminating in the state championship. He enjoyed his lengthy retirement to its fullest with a number of hobbies to occupy his time. He and his wife greatly enjoyed their extensive trips to Hawaii, their cruises in the Caribbean and Alaska, trips to Hong Kong, Bangkok, Europe, Rio de Janeiro, Casablanca, China and other places around the world. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Bertie Gleghorn, of Tyler, are two sons and a daughter, Kyle Gleghorn and wife Stephenie, of El Dorado, Arkansas, Gifford Gleghorn, of El Dorado, Arkansas, and Toni Robertson and husband Carlon, of Norway. He is also survived by a sister, Joyce Tucker, of San Angelo; brother, Kenneth Gleghorn and wife Sue, of Station; four grandchildren, Andria Gleghorn, Nathan Gleghorn and wife Angie, Dustin Foster and wife Melissa and Blake Foster; two great-grandchildren, Baylor and Claire Gleghorn; and several nieces and nephews. |
