Obituary: SOUTHLAKE -- Lorene Clay Glasscock, 90, joined her beloved husband , 1, 2011. : 2 pm at Shannon Rufe Snow Chapel. Visitation: Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private burial will follow in Lubbock, Texas. Memorials:In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to KWO (Kenya Widows/Orphans) c/o Golf Course Road Church of Christ, 3500 Golf Course Road, Midland, Texas, 79707. Lorene died peacefully in Southlake, TX with family by her side. Lorene was born 3, 1921 in Wheeler , TX to Nettie and Tom Clay. She attended Kelton High School and later West Texas where she was an avid basketball player. Lorene met and married the man of her dreams, Marion Glasscock, on May 24, 1941. She happily packed up and moved her family 48 times during their 67 year marriage. Throughout Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, and Texas Lorene was known as an incredible cook, a gracious hostess, and a woman of faith and character. She fervently put God, her family, and her friends as priorities in her life. Lorene became a World Bible School teacher and was passionate about teaching African orphans about the love of God. A feeding station for orphans in Kenya was built in her honor in 2011 and named The Lorene "Nana" Glasscock Feeding Station. Lorene was a proud and involved member of Johnson Street Church of Christ in San Angelo, Texas for more than 30 years. Lorenes greatest joy on earth was to pamper and spoil her eight granddaughters: Ashlee Stites, Cameron Barnes, Brittany Polk, Cassidi Murray, Channing Borecki, Garen Glasscock, Ginna Schmidt and Gaylen Schmidt. Her life was abundantly blessed with the births of eleven great- grandchildren and the arrival of two more in 2012. Proudly serving as pallbearers are Lorenes grandsons-in-law. Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers T.J. Clay and Teddy Clay, and her husband. Survivors: She is survived by her twin sister, Morene Howell, and her older sister, Maselle Craig. Lorene will be greatly missed by her daughters, Gayle Mansker and her husband, Kyle, of Beeville, Texas, and Sandi Holder of Southlake, Texas, and her son, Gary Glasscock and his wife, Gaye, of Midland, Texas. under the direction of Shannon Rufe Snow Drive Chapel, Fort Worth, TX. |

Obituary: GLASSCOCK Lanette Heilbron Glasscock died on , May 26, 2012. She was born to Albert Edward Heilbron and Annie Wagner Heilbron on May 26, 1911 in San Antonio, TX. She graduated from Brackenridge High School at the age of 14 and was valedictorian of her class. She was accepted to the University of Texas Law School, the predecessor of St. Marys School of Law. She was licensed by the State Bar of Texas in 1931 and joined her father in his law practice. She was the first female practicing attorney in Bexar . In 1938, she married Leon Donley Glasscock, and they formed the law firm of Glasscock & Glasscock in 1942 and practiced together until his death in 1979. Since then she has practiced law on her own for the better part of 81 years. Lanette was a member of the San Antonio Bar Association, the American Bar Association and National Association of Women Lawyers. She was President of the Zonta Club of San Antonio in 1973-1974 and on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army. She was the recipient of the Headlines Award in 1975. In 1982, she was recognized for 28 years of service to the San Antonio Conservation Society. One of her most significant achievements was serving as the first Chairpersons on the Mayors Commission of the Status of Women. Lanette was also acknowledged in the Whos Who of American Women in 1984-1985. Lanette was passionate about Womens rights in the business world. Her recipe for her life and career was making sure that she provided her clients with quality work, showing support and respect to her colleagues, both male and female, and making sure the needs of her family were not overlooked. Lanette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leon Donley Glasscock and her brother, Pete Heilbron. She is survived by her daughter, Lanette (Bitsy) Duperier and husband, Frank; son, Leon Donley (Don) Glasscock, II and wife, Mary Lou; son, Albert Glasscock and wife, Lorraine; grandsons, Dr. Frank (Terive) D. Duperier and wife, Debbie; Zane Glasscock and wife, Kim; Scott Glasscock and wife, Carrie and Dr. Edward Glasscock and wife, Christy; granddaughters, Allison Duperier Hayne and husband, Elliott and Amy Glasscock Mann and her husband; great-grandsons, Jonathan and Joseph Duperier and great-granddaughters, Cecilia, Margaret Wagner and Dodie Hayne. The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the years of devotion by her assistant Sylvia Romero and her caretakers Lily Casillas and Ted Campos, her wheels. Also the kind and capable care given by the staff of A A Senior Services and the skilled nursing section at the Forum. Obituary: Jack M. Glasscock, son of Iva Vera Martin and Maynard Arthur Glasscock, Sr., married to Billie Joyce Simmons for 63 years, was born on 17, 1931 at home in Catarina, Texas. He departed this life on 14, 2017 due to heart failure. Jack attended elementary school in Anahuac Texas, moving to Houston in 1942 where he graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1948 at the age of 16. He then attended John Brown University and night classes at the University of Houston. marrying in 1950, he enlisted in the USAF, serving 3 years as a Weather Instructor and a year as a Weather Forecaster and Chief Observer. Jack started his work career at Eastern States Petroleum Co. and after 7 years he ventured into selling insurance for Prudential and New York Life and then joined the Universal Weather Service. One of Jacks most enjoyable work experiences was owner and operator of a Shetland pony ride on Park Place Blvd. a few years, Jack joined the IBM Corp. where he worked for over 27 years, attaining the position of Senior Systems Engineer. Growing up in a loving Christian family, Jack was saved in 1942 and served his church in many capacities including School Supt. at Lakeview Park Baptist Church. Jacks first glimpse of Billie was at Riverview Baptist Church and he had just turned 15 when they went on their first date, Billies 14th birthday. In 1985, Jack joined Spring Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, the York Rite, and Arabia Shrine , A.A.O.N.M.S. While a Shriner, Jack joined the Arabia Patrol and for most of the 20 years, attended all state and national competitions. Jack was President of the Patrol in 1992 and Potentate of Arabia Shrine in 1998. In 2000, Jacks son Stuart became the Worshipful Master at Spring Lodge, a very proud moment for Jack. Jack enjoyed genealogy and the search for information about his family, where they came from, and how they got to Texas. In 2006, Jack and Stuart were accepted into The National Society-Sons of the American Revolution due to a direct ancestor, George Glasscock, who was a surgeon at the Battle of Guilford Courthouse in NC. One of the highlights of Jacks life was the birth of his only grandchild, Maxx Ryan Glasscock on 1, 2003. Jack is survived by son Stephen of Alexandria, VA, son Stuart, daughter-in-law Belinda, and grandson Maxx, all of Spring TX., nephew C.V. Sonny Simmons III, and niece Terry Simmons Wright. Graveside services will be held at Forest Park Lawndale 20, 2107 at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children. |
