Obituary: William Roy Gibson, Jr. was born on 9, 1922 to William Roy Gibson, Jr. and Ora Bell McLeod Gibson in Teague, Freestone , Texas. Graduated from Teague High School in 1939 and went immediately into the Army and then the Army Air Corp. He later served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He married Lizzie Sherwood in 1956 and moved to Arlington, Texas. He became the father of twin girls in 1957. He worked as a mail carrier in Arlington until he retired in 1987. He had a lifelong love of adventure. His favorite activities were camping, fishing, and swimming at the Brazos River with his family. He lived a joyous life of love, kindness and generosity. He loved to sing. Proceeded in death by two brothers and one sister. He is survived by his daughters, Kafie Gibson Carman and Karen Gibson Faught, six grandchildren Brandon Stafford, Kendall Stafford, Thomas Spillman, Andrea Spillman Rasco, Abram Spillman, Jonathan Spillman. He had eight great-grandchildren and two more on the way. He also loved two step-daughters their six children and their children. Survived by his sister, Melrie Gibson Schoessow of Glen Rose, Texas |

Obituary: William Charles Bill Gibson, 81, passed away on 9, 2008 at his home in San Antonio, TX. He was born on 10, 1926 in Pioneer, TX to Wright Robert Gibson, Sr. and Sybil Jewel Taylor Gibson. He graduated from Pioneer High School in May of 1943 where he excelled in football, becoming the quarterback and team captain. high school he worked in the oil fields in Breckenridge, TX and in 1944 moved to San Antonio, TX finding employment as a plumbers helper at Woodard Plumbing , owned by his brother-in-law and half-sister. He was drafted into the Army in 1944, but before he shipped out he married his high school sweetheart, Norma Frances King of Cross Plains, TX on 10, 1944 in San Antonio, TX. When he returned home from World War II, he resumed working for Woodard Plumbing and attended the Plumbers and Pipefitters apprenticeship program at Union Local 142, eventually earning his Journeyman Plumbers license and Master Plumbers license. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and started his business Gibson Plumbing in 1954. experiencing 50 years of success, he sold Gibson Plumbing in 2003, its name remaining unchanged, leaving a legacy of hard work, camaraderie and quality craftsmanship. He was an extremely talented golfer who began playing at age 8 with his brothers. While in the Army in the Philippines he was regularly invited to play golf with the officers. He played locally in tournaments in San Antonio, as well as in many American and European cities, one of his favorite courses being St. Andrews near Edinborough, Scotland. He was a member of Oak Hills Country Club for many years, winning 4 Club Championship Golf titles, and serving as the Club President in 1985. His other interests included hunting, fishing and ballroom dancing. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Norma Frances King Gibson of Cross Plains, TX; his parents, Wright and Sybil Gibson; his brothers, Wright Robert Bob Gibson, Jr. and Franklin Delano Buck Gibson; his half-sister, Carmen Gibson Woodard; and his half-brother, Harris Gibson. He is survived by his son, William A. Gibson of Horseshoe Bay, TX; daughters, Deborah K. Gibson of Austin, TX and Marsha Gibson Delavan and husband Marshall of San Antonio, TX; his grandchildren, Nicole Kleffner, Brooke Harden, Marshall W. Delavan and Logan Delavan of San Antonio, TX, and Casey Gelfer of Austin, TX; his great-grandchildren, Carson Kleffner, Madeline Kleffner, Reagan Kleffner and Jack Walker Harden of San Antonio, TX, Gibson Marley Gelfer of Austin, TX; his brothers, Eugene H. Gibson of Brownwood, TX, Ross Sterling Gibson of Andrews, TX; and his sister, Winnie Gibson ODonnell of Waxahachie, TX. The family wishes to express their thanks to all of Mr. Gibsons loyal friends, caregivers and the hospice staff who made it possible for him to live his last years with dignity and respect which he so well deserved. Obituary: Mrs. Victoria Donilia Armendarez Gibson went to be with the Lord on Thanksgiving morning, 27 2014. Loving mother, daughter, sister, and wife was born 13 1963 in Barstow California. She attended Kennedy Jr. High, Barstow High, Barstow , and Central Texas . Victoria married her soul mate, a military man who took her around the world, raised a family, and worked 20 years as a Civil Service, U.S. Government employee. She lived in and worked for the Army in Schwabisch Hall, Germany when the wall came down; 160th SAR, Newport News, Fort Eustis Virginia; and Methodology and Analysis Directorate, Operational Test Command, Harker Heights, Fort Hood Texas. Hobbies included: unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and unconditional love and support for her family, pets, and friends; boating and camping at the lake; cross country road trips; old western movies; softball; and completing 5K races with family and friends. She has joined in heaven her father, Valentin (JR.); grandmother, Flora; and nephew, Mark. She is survived by her husband William; daughter Rosalinda; son Joshua and daughter in law Michele and grandson Patrick; mother Donilia (Donnie); brother Miguel and sister in law Neveen; Aunt Ida; father and mother in law Bud and Dot; sisters in law Deborah and Mary; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be terribly missed, but we know we will see her again in heaven. Services will be held at 1030, , 11 2014, at Meads mortuary in Barstow California. Burial site will be Mount View Memorial Park cemetery, Barstow California. Instead of flowers please send donations to Ovarian Cancer research. |
