Obituary: Maxine Rimmer Georgi, 92, passed away from old age on 26, 2015, at her Arlington Texas home after a long and courageous struggle with terrible Alzheimers disease. Maxine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and great-aunt.
She loved her family very much
services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on , 2, 2015 at First Christian Church, 910 S. Collins, Arlington, TX 76010. Senior minister Dr. Andy Mangum will officiate. Friends are invited for a time of viewing and visitation for the hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will follow at a later date in Dallas- Fort Worth National where she will be placed in an above ground columbarium, alongside her husband, Henry Georgi, who preceded her in death in , 2009. Military honors will be rendered.
Maxine Rimmer was born in Boone , Missouri in 1923 to Brooklyn Rimmer and Ethel Spilman Rimmer. She had three brothers and two sisters. She graduated from Hickman High School in Columbia, Missouri in 1940. graduation she attended the Rosenthal School of Commerce in Columbia, Missouri. She learned typing, filing, adding machines and shorthand, skills which she would later employ with the Marines to support the war effort.She was a Rosie the Riveter in 1943 assembling bombers in Kansas City. A special callout for her longtime friend of 73 years, fellow wartime riveter, and honorary sister, Betty Jacobs, currently in San Jose, California. These two became godmothers for each others children.Maxine was a Marine Corps veteran who served with distinction from 1944 to 1945. She was stationed at the newly built pentagon in Washington D.C., helping to keep track of all the Marines locations using 3x5 index cards, typing in triplicate with real carbon paper using a manual typewriter, and shorthand.
WWII, she came back to Kansas City to work for Sears as a secretary from 1946 to 1957. She enjoyed bowling on the company team and winning trophies. It was at Sears that Maxine Rimmer met Henry Georgi. married on 4, 1954. built a new home in south Kansas City in 1957 and raised two sons, Steven and Allen.
In 1978, Sears moved the entire merchandising division from Kansas City, Missouri to Dallas, Texas. Maxine, Henry, and Allen moved to Arlington, Texas and built their second new home.
She enjoyed being a greeter and member of the Christian Womens Fellowship at the First Christian Church of Arlington for many years. She also enjoyed being a volunteer at Arlington Memorial Hospital for more than 25 years.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Brooklyn and Ethel Spillman Rimmer of Columbia, Missouri and all five of her brothers and sisters and their spouses: brother Henry Rimmer, in WWII; sister Lorene Rimmer, in high school; sister Nadine Rimmer Thacker and her husband Gene, St. Louis, Missouri; brother Bill Rimmer and his wife Irene, Columbia, Missouri; and brother Harold Rimmer and his wife Shirley, Kansas City, Missouri. Surviving members of Maxines United States family include: son Allen Georgi of Grapevine, Texas; son Steven Georgi, and significant other Gail, of Arlington, Texas, grandson, Ryan Georgi of Seattle, Washington, granddaughter, Monica Georgi Byler and her husband Henry Byler of Spring Hill, Florida, and great-grandchildren Shawn, Olivia, and Mason niece Susie Rimmer Johns and husband Dick of Lees Summit Missouri; niece Mary Beth Rimmer Markworth and husband Bryce of Archie Missouri; nephew Robert Rimmer of Lees Summit Missouri; niece Janice Rimmer Douglas of Mexico Missouri; niece Patricia Rimmer Lazuskas and husband Peter of Houston, Texas; nephew Edward Thacker and wife Sonja of St. Charles Missouri; nephew Mike Thacker of St. Louis Missouri; niece Angie Thacker Gones of St. Louis, Missouri; second cousin Douglas Shipe of Lenexa, Kansas; sister-in-law Linda Birdsong of Rogers Arkansas. Numerous great-nephews and great-nieces in Missouri, Texas, and Washington D.C. Surviving members of Maxines and husband Henrys German family include: Brother-in-law Wolfgang Oettel and wife Barbel, niece Ursula Georgi Kropfeld and husband Charley; and niece Ingrid Georgi Rempt and husband Helmut. Many great nephews and great nieces in Germany.

Mr. Cortez was born on 29, 1958 in Gatesville, Texas to Pauline (Lonzo) and George L. Cortez, Sr. He loved sports, playing baseball and football when he was in school and he umpired for all of the baseball leagues for several years. Mr. Cortez also loved playing dominos, fishing and playing Santa every Christmas. He was a member of the American Legion SAL and Saint Eugene Catholic Church where he served as an Altar Boy in his younger years. His parents and a brother-in-law; Edward Vargas, Sr. preceded him in death.

Survivors include his sisters; Barbara Marcussen and her husband, Doug, Shirley Rodriguez and her husband, Lupe, Amelia Vargas, Rita C. Resendez and Rachel Cummings and her husband, Eddie Pratt and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Mr. Cortez was a very compassionate man, even after death, being a donor he is continuing to prolong and help other individuals.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Billy Boy Byford and his family for their support and friendship and to the MICU staff at Hillcrest Baylor Scott and White for their love and care that they gave to our brother.

Obituary: In his firm belief in eternal life, George Joseph Greaney Jr. departed this world at the age of 93 on 25, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Galveston, TX on 23, 1922, he was the son of George Joseph Greaney Sr. and Minna Butler Greaney.
his 1939 graduation from Galvestons Kirwin High School, he attended Texas A&M and joined the Corps of Cadets. In 1943, he was called to serve his country in WWII in the US Army in Europe. In 1946, George returned home and received an Honorable Discharge as Captain in the Army Signal Corps. He re-entered Texas A&M earning a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1947. He wore his Aggie ring with pride in what he believed stood for loyalty, truth, honor, integrity, and ethic.
graduating, he joined Elliott , an industrial equipment manufacturer, headquartered in Jeannette, PA, as an Apprentice Engineer. He initially worked in Corpus Christi, moving to the Houston office as a Sales Engineer in 1955. He progressed to the position of Regional Sales Manager. During his tenure with Elliott in Houston, he served as President of the Natural Gas Processors Suppliers Association, was a member of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers, the Houston Engineering and Scientific Society, and The Petroleum Club. In 1974, he transferred to the company headquarters and retired in 1983 as Vice President of World Sales.
George married the love of his life, Ethel Cook Greaney of Hartsville, S.C. on 24, 1953. bought their first home in Meyerland, one of the first houses built on Beechnut Street. The family moved to El Lago, TX in 1966 to be closer to the coast and in 1974 moved to Greensburg, PA. retiring in 1983, their love for Texas brought them back to Seabrook where they settled back into El Lago to enjoy their retirement by sailing the bay, playing tennis at Windemere Sail and Racquet Club, volunteering with Meals on Wheels, and serving on the Police Commission of the Lakeview Police Force. He was also on the Board of Directors of South Shore Harbour Country Club and an active member of the Sul Ross Association at Texas A&M. George thoroughly enjoyed playing the game of golf with a great group of grumpy ole golfers when he and Ethel weren spending time travelling the world.
George was a people person who cherished all of his life, long special friendships. He and Ethel were very fortunate to have crossed paths with so many wonderful people in their journey through life together. For that George was forever grateful.
George is preceded in death by his dear, beloved wife Ethel and his brother Donald E. Greaney. He is survived by his children Pat and wife Mary Alice, Pamela, Catherine and husband Tom Reilly, Robert and wife Stacey. He is survived by his grandchildren whom he adored Patrick, David and wife Angela, Kevin, Thomas, Candice, Therese, Rob, Sarah, and great-grandchild Joseph George Greaney. Left to, also, cherish his Legacy are his sisters-in laws Carol Greaney-Wurst, Geraldine Evans, Emma Mims, and all of his nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
George was a man of great devotion to his Catholic faith, a devoted husband, a member of America's Greatest Generation, a Fightin' Texas Aggie, a Retired Vice President, and a great, great family man who supported us, taught us, believed in us, and loved us. You are in our hearts forever. Pat, Pam, Catherine, Robert.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm at Forest Park East , 21620 Gulf Fwy., Webster, TX 77598, on , 1. Omer, Jr. passed away peacefully on 20, 2014, in Spring, TX, surrounded by his family. Dr. Omer was born in 1922 in Kansas City, KS as the oldest child of Dr. George E. Omer, Sr. and Edith Mae Omer, living with his family in western Kansas during the 1930s and the worst years of the Great Depression. In the 1940s he attended Ft. Hayes Kansas State University for his undergraduate studies and the University of Kansas Medical School for his graduate work, serving also as a non-commissioned surgical technician in the United States Army during World War II. Honorably discharged in 1945, he later rejoined the Army as a commissioned officer serving over 20 years in the Army Medical Corps and earning his Army Parachutist Badge and the American Legion of Merit Medal, among many other commendations and awards along the way. In 1949 he married Wanda (Wendie) Vilven, and they raised two sons, George Eric Omer and Michael Lee Omer, over the next two decades as Omer served at various medical posts throughout the country and S. Korea as an Army surgeon. During the 1950s and 1960s Omers skill, experience, training and reputation in the field of hand surgery earned him national acclaim and eventually he assumed the position of Chief of Orthopedic Surgery and Hand Surgery at Brooke Army Medical in San Antonio during the height of the Vietnam War. He retired from the Army in 1970 with the rank of Colonel and moved to Albuquerque to assume the position of Chairman of the Department of Orthopedics and Division of Hand Surgery at the University of New Mexico Medical . Over the next two decades, Omers reputation in the medical community would continue to expand world-wide, allowing him to serve in key rolls with numerous national and international medical societies while growing the size and reputation of the medical programs that he initiated and fostered at the University of New Mexico. During this period, Omers writings and lectures extended his work and reputation to prestigious international academic medical organizations in Britain, France, Australia, Brazil, New Zealand, South Africa, Turkey and Canada, to name only a few, as well as to the most premier American medical societies and organizations for orthpaedics and hand surgery. In 1990 Omer retired as the Chairman and Chief of the UNM medical departments he had founded and assumed the roll of Professor and Chairman Emeritus for the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at the UNM School of Medicine. In the 1990s Omer continued his practice of medicine by lecturing, writing, consulting and serving on national and international advisory boards for numerous medical societies and publications all while remaining active as a physician, educator and consultant with organizations as varied and diverse as the Carrie Tingley Childrens Hospital, NASA, the U.S. Surgeon Generals Office, the Navajo Tribal Authority and the Houston Oilers Football Team.

Omers legacy to medicine represents over a half century of selfless dedication and exemplary commitment to the improvement of the field of hand surgery and the education and training of countless doctors who now carry on his lifes work as their own. He earned and cherished the friendships of colleagues all over the world who recognize him as a pioneer in the field of hand surgery and acknowledge that his skill, dedication, work ethic and integrity have set him apart from his peers. Dr. Omer was preceded in death by his older son, Eric, but is survived by his wife, Wendie, his sister Betty Creek, his son Michael and daughter-in-law Marla, by his grandchildren Adria, Miranda, Tera, Cody, Macy and Greg and by his nephews and niece Doug and Jon Vilven, Robert (Bob) and David Creek, Sharyn Holt and their spouses. He loved his family dearly and after 65 years of marriage considered the roles of Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle to be the most cherished of all his lifetime honors. A memorial service for family and friends will be held , 7th at 2:00 PM at Earthman Hunters Creek located at 8303 Katy Freeway, in Houston. Military internment services will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National in San Antonio on 8th at 1:30 PM. A memorial service will also be scheduled for family, friends and colleagues in Albuquerque, NM at a date yet to be announced. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to any of the following: (1) the UNM Foundation, at Two Woodward , 700 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102 for the George E. Omer, Jr., M.D. Professorship Endowment; or (2) to the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 25424, Albuquerque, NM 87125; or (3) to the Fisher House Foundation, Inc., 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420, Rockville, MD 20850 for the benefit of The for the Intrepid at Ft. Sam Houston.

Obituary: George Arthur Boedeker, Jr., 74, passed away 28, 2015. He was born at home in Lavaca , Texas on 5, 1940 to the late George A. and Annie Koenning Boedeker, Sr. 41 years of service, he retired from Union Carbide. retirement he worked for the Texas Boll Weevil Eradication Program. As a young man, as he would say "I've done everything there is to do with cotton" from farming to ginning when he first began working in the cotton industry in Lubbock, Texas after high school graduation. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church.
On 25, 1961 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Yoakum, Texas he married the love of his life, Margaret Ann Kocian. George was well known for his sense of humor and ability to carry on a conversation with anyone. His favorite hobbies were spending time with his family he dearly loved, hosting family parties at the river, raising award winning pecans, going to dances with his wife (especially the Red Ravens), river fishing, trips to Louisiana, Cruises with the Red Ravens Band, and gardening. As his children were growing up, he was an active adult leader for 4-H swine projects, attended all school dances as chaperone, and was a little league baseball manager. In 1981 he was named Honorary Chapter Farmer by the Bloomington FFA. When George and Margaret lived in Placedo, TX, he was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church where he served on the hospitality committee, parish council, chairman of the church bazaar and turkey dinner and helped with CCD. He was a member of the Polka and Waltz Club and the Western Dance Club.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Margaret Ann Kocian Boedeker, of Victoria; daughters, Gayle Engelmohr of Ganado, Eunice Mae Boedeker of Placedo and Christine Joslin and husband Chuck of Katy; son, Lloyd D. Boedeker and wife Connie of Cuero; brother, Floyd Boedeker and wife Evelyn of Cuero; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Emmett Boedeker and Leonard Boedeker; grandson, Gary Lee Engelmohr Jr.; son-in-law Gary Engelmohr; and nephews, Glen Boedeker, Carlos Boedeker, and Leonard Boedeker Jr.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm, , 30, 2015 at Colonial followed by a rosary at 7:00 pm. A Mass will be held 10:00 am, , 31, 2015 at St. Marys Catholic Church. A graveside service will be held 2:30 pm at St. Annes , 4162 State Hwy 111 West, Hochheim, Texas 77967.
Serving as pallbearers will be Nicholas Diamond, Robert Kocian, Brandon Boedeker, Christopher Laake, Clint Love, Larry Kocian, Martin Kocian, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Summer Laake, Marcie Diamond, Bethany Boedeker, Britni Love, Maci Engelmohr, Sydni Engelmohr, Coltyn Love, Cadyn Love, Camdyn Love, Brynnley Laake, Cameron Rodriguez and the Night Supper Club. Memorial donations may be made to St. Marys Catholic Church Building Fund, Victoria, Texas or St Michaels Catholic School, Cuero, Texas.
