Obituary: Hoyte Gentry, 86, passed away on May 24, 2015 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Hoyte was born in Louisville, Mississippi to James and Claudie Gentry on 11, 1929. He graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1949. He worked as a plumber in the 1950s and incorporated his commercial plumbing business, Gentry , in 1965. He served as President and C.E.O. of Gentry until his death. He was active in the community serving on numerous boards and committees for various organizations including the AGC, MCA, RTA, SWCA, BACALA, Chamber of Commerce, Coastal Bend National Bank and Stonewall Bank as well as many others. His philanthropic interests included Ada Wilson Hospital, Driscoll Childrens Hospital, Christus Spohn Hospitals and the Shrine Temple. He was a Noble of the Shrine of North America, 32nd degree Mason, served on the motor patrol and in the Royal Order of Jesters. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruth Gentry, Jamie Scott, Louise Wood; brother, Wallace Gentry and grandson, Jason Boltinghouse. Hoyte is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Gentry; sister, Faye Collier (Joe); daughter, Traci Fugh (Robert); son, Ty Gentry (Robin); grandchildren, Jeremy Boltinghouse, Tyler Gentry, Kailin Boltinghouse, and Alyssa Gentry. Visitation will be held at Seaside Chapel on , May 27, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. A Service will be held at First Baptist Church on , May 28, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Burial to follow at Seaside Memorial Park, 4357 Ocean Drive. Pallbearers will be Ryan Freitag, Mark Franklin, Henry Garrett, Pat Horne, Ruben Jimenez, Sheriff Jim Kaelin, Bud OBryan and Mike Scott. Honorary PallBearers include Joe Fulton, NR Johnston, Douglas Beck, Jimmy Hines, and Ted Daniel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Al Amin Transportation Fund, 2001 Suntide Rd., Corpus Christi, Texas 78409 or Driscoll Childrens Hospital Development Foundation, 3533 S. Obituary: Dorothy Fay Stevenson Gentry was born on 28, 1942 in Port Arthur, Texas. She passed away on 16, 2015 at the young age of 72. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry Richard Stevenson, Sr. and Sybol Hensley Stevenson, her former Husband John Thomas Gentry, her sisters Charlotte Stevenson and Mollie Marshall and her husband Randy. She is survived by her sister Edna Earl Punk Bilbo and her husband Gerald Bilbo, her brother Henry Richard Sonny Stevenson, Jr. and his wife Janie, her sons Scott Alan Gentry, Russell Dale Gentry and wife Brandi Gentry, and David Thomas Gentry, and her beloved grandchildren Ashley, Paul and Chloe Gentry and Bethanie, Matthew and Alexandria Gentry, and numerous nieces, nephews and grand nephews. Dorothy Fay Stevenson Gentry retired from Bank of America after 44 years of service. She grew up in Southeast Texas and graduated from Vidor High School in 1961. She moved to Dallas shortly after that. She met a handsome young man named John Gentry and married him in 1964. were married for 34 years and raised three sons. moved to Mesquite, Texas in 1978 and she lived in the same house until her death. Dorothy loved many things such as sports, music (especially Elvis), woodworking, and collecting memorabilia. She played basketball in high school and played softball until the age of 50. In her later years, her life revolved around her grandchildren. She seemed to be the happiest when surrounded by her family. She also enjoyed her time with her friends and fellowship on card night and Bible study. She will be sorely missed because she touched so many lives, be it long term or short. She always was smiling, even when times were not so perfect. Her visitation will be night from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Eastgate Chapel. Her service will be at 11:00 a.m. at the Grandview Baptist Church 1401 I-30 in Mesquite. |
