Obituary: Martha Satterfield Garrett, 82, of the Woodlands, was called to Heaven on 21, 2016. Martha was born in Garrett, Indiana to Roger and Kathryn Satterfield on 22, 1934. She graduated from Port Arthur High School and attended the University of Texas at Austin. Martha received her Bachelor of Arts from Fort Lewis in 1970. She married Clyde Cleveland Garrett on 16, 1957. Martha is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Garrett, her son Mark Coyote Garrett and her brother, William Satterfield. Martha is survived by her brother, Bryon Satterfield and wife Michele, her son, David Garrett and wife Rachel, daughter Kathryn Hirth and husband Steve, daughter Lizabeth Riley and husband Tom, son Christopher Garrett and wife Nicole, and son Jeffrey Garrett and wife Kerry. She loved her eleven grandchildren: Madeline, Cianne, Jordyn, Matthew, Megan, Tristan, Coco, Nick, Tyler, Zach and Reganne and her great-grandchildren Hudson and Tucker. Martha ("Tookie") had an incredible spirit and love for her family. She created a magical childhood for her children with newspaper-wrapped birthdays and handcrafted Christmas mornings. Martha and Clyde showed unselfish love when they welcomed Mark into their family as one of their own children. Martha always pushed herself to do more. She completed college while raising 6 children, learned calligraphy, piano and even auditioned with the Houston Choral for Handel's Messiah. She found her home in the Lutheran Church and built her life around her Christian values. She handled her last years of illness with grace and optimism. She leaves us here on earth with the comfort in knowing she is "mighty fine" in her heavenly home. Martha's family would like to express our gratitude to the staff at Tranquility for making her last few weeks and last birthday memorable. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation in Martha's name to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Obituary: Martha Sue Garrett was born in Obion, Tennessee, and was a graduate of Miller-Hawkins Business School in Memphis. Sue went on to become a runway fashion model during and after World War II and then a buyer in Womens and Couture at Levys department store in Memphis. the war, Sue married Morris William Roettger, a B-17 and B-24 Army Air Corps/Air Force pilot in Europe and the Pacific, who subsequently flew B-29s in Korea. had one daughter, Brenda Ray Coffee, a resident of Boerne, Texas. the death of her first husband, Sue worked for the Red Cross and managed a retail store at North Star Mall in San Antonio. In 1972 she married banker, PB Jack Garrett, Sr., and moved to Dallas. Jacks death, Sue was Chairwoman of the Freedoms Foundation National Awards Program; she was active in Dallas Toast Mistress, and she continued to work in retail at the Apparel & Accessories Mart in Dallas. Sue was a dedicated student of meditation, Gods word and the writings of spiritual author and healer, Joel Goldsmith. In 2010, Sue moved to San Antonio. Her daughter extends her heartfelt appreciation to the compassionate nurses and caregivers at The Haven Dementia facility. She also gives special gratitude and appreciation to Jeff, her mothers nurse, and the other hospice caregivers and chaplains with Vitas care, who made her last year more comfortable. A service will be held , 27th, at Sunset North in San Antonio. Burial will be at Sparkman Hillcrest Memorial Park in Dallas, where Sue will be buried alongside her mother, Laura Douglas. Obituary: Martha Cooper Allbee Garrett, a lifelong Dallasite, passed away from this life and was welcomed to heaven on 3, 2014. She was a proud 4th generation Baylorite, graduating from Baylor University in 1946 with a business degree -- at a time when few women pursued the field. She was proud to be the great granddaughter of Rufus C. Burleson, founder of and second president of Baylor. In her single days, she pursued a both a career in banking and the 1950s Dallas social scene. Active in many social and service clubs, including serving as president of the Cimarron Club, she was an early fashionista and frequently noted in the 1950s Dallas Morning News society pages under the caption "What Miss Cooper wore..." She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 31 years, Art Allbee, and is survived by a daughter, Marti Allbee Baker, husband Dan Baker and grandson Ted Baker. She is also survived by her son, Andy Allbee, his wife, Patricia Long Allbee, and granddaughters Allison and Emmie Allbee. In 1995, she married Lewis Garrett and is survived by him and his three sons who she loved as her own -- David Garrett, wife Amy and grandson Brett Garrett; Paul Garrett and his wife Shannon; and Mark Garrett, wife Abbey and granddaughters Audrey and Molly Garrett. As an only child, Martha loved and was loved by many cousins, who she treasured dearly throughout her life. She is also survived by many, many friends. A lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Dallas, her faith was always a top priority and she remained active in the church throughout her life. Martha's friends and family were blessed by her love of family and family history, sharp sense of humor, her poise, style, fashion sense and glorious red hair. A loyal and true friend to many, loving cousin and beloved wife and mother, she will be sorely missed and often celebrated. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Lottie Moon Foreign Missions in care of First Baptist Dallas or at www.imb.org/main/lottie-moon.
