Obituary: Edwin Hyer Garner stepped into heaven to meet Jesus at 2:05 a.m.on 22, 2011 at the age of 83. Ed as he was commonly called was born in San Angelo, Texas on 19, 1927 to Thomas Hyer Garner and Lillie Mae Williams. He grew up on a ranch north of San Angelo, and learned all about ranching and farming at an early age from his father. his dad passed away at the age of 96, Edwin continued his dads legacy on the land where he grew up. He attended San Angelo and took agriculture classes which helped him to become a very successful and smart businessman. Edwin and his close friend, Frank Meadows, started and successfully maintained ranches in both Richland Springs and San Angelo for many years. He was one of the directors for Western Mattress and helped establish and maintain stores in San Angelo, Del Rio, Brownwood, and Big Spring. Edwin was very proud to serve his country in the Army National Guard and Army Reserves as a Sergeant First Class at Fort Polk, Louisiana. He received an honorable discharge after 13 years of service and went back to the ranching business that he loved dearly. On 26, 1960, he married Frances Blanek, and they were married for 50 years. Edwin was a very loving, caring, and compassionate husband to Frances; father to Kathy and Sue; and PaPaw to Sheila, John, Colt, Kelby, and Kadin. He loved Jesus and set a Godly example in the home and out in public and was loved and respected by many people. Edwin was a very generous person with a big heart always helping others in need. He was a good Christian man. Edwin was involved in numerous activities and organizations during his lifetime. He was a deacon at Immanuel Baptist Church for many years, and was actively involved in church activities. He loved to play dominoes every night with close, dear friends Elmer and Sybil Taylor. He was the director of Tom Green Soil and Water Conservation District #248 for 20 years, and on the board of the Colorado River Authority. Edwin was also a lifetime judge for the San Angelo Stock Show participating in livestock and plant judging for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lillie Garner, and sister, Charlotte Garner. He is survived by his wife, Frances, of San Angelo; daughter, Kathy Lynch and husband Dale of Pinehurst; daughter, Sue Blankemeyer and husband Dennis of Del Rio; granddaughter Sheila Eisenbach; grandsons John and Colt Stephens of Morrisonville, Illinois; grandsons Kelby and Kadin Blankemeyer of Del Rio, and many close and special family friends. Many thanks to the staff of Sagecrest Alzheimers and Baptist Hospice for their wonderful compassionate care for our dear loved one. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to either Sagecrest Alzheimers at 438 East Houston Harte, San Angelo, TX 76903, the National Parkinson Foundation, or the Immanuel Baptist Church. A visitation will be held on , 24th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Johnsons . Services will be held at Johnsons Chapel on , 25th at 2:00 p.m. with James Mitchell officiating with burial to follow at Fairmount . Pallbearers will be Roy Book, Dennis Friedrich, Ralph Goble, Ronnie Morgan, Mike Nelson, and Curt Wyman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dennis, Kelby, and Kadin Blankemeyer. Obituary: Elizabeth Anne Eastham Garner, RN, MS, PhD, beloved teacher, mentor, nurse, colleague, friend, sister, wife and mother died at her home on 20, 2005 at the age of 62. She was born in Fort Worth, Texas on 5, 1943, to James William Eastham 1910-2002 and Kathryn Jones 1918-1982. Anne graduated from Odessa High School in 1961 and from Texas WomenÂs University in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. She married Harold E Garner on 8, 1964 and after putting each other through school they continued as a team in all their endeavors. She began her nursing career as head nurse, project nurse and then clinical nurse specialist. Anne acquired her Master of Science in in 1976 from TWU. She continued her career as project director of a pulmonary rehabilitation program and assistant professor of a respiratory therapy education program. While pursuing her doctorate in nursing, she was promoted to administrative director of medical/psychiatric nursing at Hermann Hospital in Houston. Upon completing her Doctor of Philosophy in from TWU in 1992, she relocated to San Antonio to teach as Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Heath Science . She was inducted into the International Honor Society, Sigma Theta Tau and served as president of the Delta Alpha Chapter from 1999 to 2000. She continued to teach acute care nursing and nursing management for eleven years until her passing. Her family affectionately called her ÂDr. Nurse. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Gene; her sister Janelle, her children, James and his wife Nicole and Kathy and her husband Bill; the grandchildren, Paul, Zoe, Daniel, Rachel, and Brett.
