Obituary: Noble J. D. Grinder, 88, of Somerville was born on 14, 1927 and passed away on , 15, 2016. J.D. moved to Memphis in 1942 at the age of 15 where he worked odd jobs and later went to work for Southern Boiler & Tank with his older brother R.C. Grinder. J.D. later worked for S&W Construction, Southern Builders, and Darden Lidell before he founded Grinder Excavating in 1961 which he operated with his wife of 59 years Cereice Chick Grinder until their retirement in 1991. J.D. loved his family, traveling with Nana, and crappie fishing at Tunica Cutoff and Sardis Lake. During the 1980s and early 1990s he had quite a passion for deer hunting at Duck Lake with Greg, Johnny, and the boys. He would close out deer season with the yearly Christmas Shopping Spree with his three granddaughters Brooke, Katie, and Ali. J.D. was preceded in death by: his wife Cereice Grinder, his daughter-in-law Nancy Morrell Grinder, his great grandson Colton Mitchell Brewer. He is survived by his son Greg Grinder (Denise), his daughter Lesa Grinder White, two grandsons: Shane Grinder(Michi), Heath Grinder (Melinda) all of Hickory Withe, three granddaughters: Brooke (Justin) Brewer of Tupelo, MS, Katie Szostak (Joe) of Holly Ridge, NC, Ali Winters (Jared) of Jonesboro, AR, eight great granddaughters: Nikki Grinder, Gabbi Barnett (Mark), Jessica Grinder, Emily Grinder, Chandler Reese Brewer, Collins Brewer, Adalynn Szostak, Weslynn Winters, three great grandsons: Walker Winters, Whit Winters, Kellen Szostak, one great great granddaughter Cayleigh Webb, two brothers: Ed (Tena) Grinder of Memphis, Don Grinder of Collierville, and one sister: Fredda Grinder Bennett of Somerville. The family will receive friends from 5pm until 7pm on , 18, 2016, with funeral services to be held at 10 am, on , 19, 2016, with interment to follow, all to be held at Memphis and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Obituary: LEE AUGUSTUS GRIMMIG, 75, passed away at his home on 31, 2010 after his brave battle with cancer. He attended Notredame University and graduated from Ole Miss University of Mississippi in Business. However, his passion for nature and creation prevailed as he chose to learn in the Art department of the University of Memphis. Lee was a talented free spirit going from one meticulous project to another and an excellent artist who painted, carved and made sculptures. He created custom, museum-quality taxidermiy mountings and built replicas of airplanes. He was an avid collector of countless art artifacts which he discovered on his trips around the world, including old wood carvings, African masks, trains, glass, books and anything old. He loved love, animals, his many parrots, plants and flowers and recently created many delicate bonsais. He built his family house and greenhouse from the 1840s remnants of an old house in downtown Memphis. Lee leaves his wife Jana Safarik-Grimming, M.D.; five children, Lyn Grimmig, Anne Lee, Gus Grimmig (Lori), Charlotte Dede Smith (Jeff), John Grimmig (Angie), six granddaughters; Sarah Lee, Rachel Lee, Grimmig, Alison Grimmig, Devlin Smith, Lauren Smith; two stepchildren, Philip Safarik, Anna Safarik; and his cousin Martha Cameron York. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m., , 3 at Memphis , 5599 Poplar Avenue. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of Memphis on , 4, 11 a.m., with his burial to follow in Calvary .
