Obituary: David E. Lamplighter Goss, 68, of the 107 Cutoff, Greeneville, passed away , 15, 2010, at his residence. He was truck driver for Walmart Distribution . He was a memeber of Westside Church of God He lived his whole life in the service of the Lord, Jesus Christ. His family states, He enjoyed singing gospel music with Tim Goss and Deliverance, a group he and his family had formed. He had written over 40 gospel songs. Survivors include his wife: Carol A. Goss; two daughters: Pamela Goss of Greeneville; Deborah Dee Dee Portugal son and daughter-in-law: Timothy and Jennifer Goss of Greeneville of Mohawk; grandchildren: Austin, Kathleen, Megan, and Will Goss, all of Greeneville; Cayla Kidwell and spouse, Brandon, of Johnson City; Mayla Portugal of Mohawk; several nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Albert A. and Myrtle A. Tenney Goss and was preceded in death by a son, Dwayne Henry Goss; a grandson, Caleb Portugal; four brothers, Loyal, Leidy, Robert, and Albert Goss, Jr.; two sisters, Isabell Stull and Anna Lee Couch. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. , 19, 2010, in the Kiser Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Bob Brown and Bishop Tracy Colley officiating. Interment will follow in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tim Goss, Austin Goss, Dennis McCahan, Darrell Gaskins, Mark Wingo, and Brandon Kidwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Detwiler, Carl Odell, Fred Peters, Kenny Long, and Kip Riffe. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. and 10-11 a.m. at Kiser Rose Hill . Obituary: William Bill Goose Gosnell, age 61, of Greeneville, died , 4, 2011, at Vanderbilt University Medical . His place of worship was Cedar Creek Church of God. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Psalms 119:102 Mr. Gosnell will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be missed by many. He was very active in the Cedar Creek Church of God, serving as chairman of many boards and committees. He was a retired lineman and superintendent from the Greeneville Light and Power System. He also worked as a carpenter. He was currently teaching a certification course through Walters State Community and worked as the caretaker of the East Tennessee Campground Association on the Asheville Highway. Bill is survived by his wife of 41 years: Ruth Gosnell; two daughters and sons-in-law: Amy and Glen Luttrell and Shannon and Ken Brewer, all of Greeneville; five grandchildren: Sarah and Jacob Luttrell, Sydney, Kyndall, and Ellah Brewer of Greeneville; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Judy and Clay Smith of Greeneville and Cathy and Tommie Sutton of Cosby, Tennessee; sister-in-law: Porshia Gosnell of Greeneville; five brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Imogene and J.G. Smith, Clarence and Maretta Waddell, Linda and Earl Helbert, Minnis and Norma Waddell and Janet Waddell of Greeneville; special nephew and niece: Tommy and Kathy Gosnell; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Stella Gosnell, and his brother, Tom Gosnell. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Kiser-Rose Hill preceding the service at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Dr. Darryl Allen and Rev. Willis Bowers will officiate. Interment will follow at 11:00 a.m. at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. It is requested that family and friends that would like to join the family for the committal service, meet at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery. Obituary: Melody Paige Gosnell was a natural leader whose winning presence allowed her to take control of various situations with ease. Equipped with a clear and calculating focus, she possessed a tough-minded, ake charge attitude. She had the ability to make even routine situations seem exciting, and she was at ease with the role of playing problem solver. Melody always sought out the scene of where the action was. Sociable, analytical and pleasant, Melody was an individual who enjoyed lifes challenges. Melody was born on 26, 1980 at Takoma Adventist Hospital in Greeneville, Tennessee. Her parents were James Tipton and Carolyn Gosnell. Melody was raised in Greeneville, Tennessee. Always able to express herself well, Melody possessed strong interpersonal skills. She was optimistic in her outlook on life and was able at all times to be open and direct in her communication. Armed with a great wit, Melody was raised to be accepting of others and to implement a strong personal work ethic. Blessed with a balanced attitude, Melody was able to relate well with others. Her occasional role as family mediator gave her the opportunity to ease tense situations when they occurred. Melody was raised with four siblings. She had an older sister: Crystal; an older brother: Marty; a younger brother: Adam; and a younger sister: Sarah. Melody had a strong desire to be treated fairly and would readily offer others the same fairness in return. As a young child, Melody showed her creative ability in many ways. She was outgoing and animated. Melody enjoyed new activities and pursued a variety of interests. In her spare time she liked hanging out with friends, talking on the phone, and acting silly. Known to others as a focused, logical, open-minded and somewhat driven individual, Melody was able to utilize these qualities to succeed in high school. Her curious nature was spurred by her ability to maximize her personal learning style through employing a hands-on approach. She was good with facts and had an excellent memory. She received her GED in 2009. She enjoyed some courses more than others, having favorite classes and teachers. Friends and acquaintances found Melody an easy woman to get to know, and those close to her would often praise her open, practical style of communication and relaxed approach to life in general. Melody was uncomplicated and straightforward in her relationships, which allowed her to accept people for what they were. While growing up, some of her best friends were Gina Bible, Jessica Foshie, and Linda. Later in life, she became friends with Dustin Davis, Roy McGhee, Jamie Ayers, and Bronson Ricker. Very much like a kid herself, Melody identified with the inquisitive and creative side of her childrens personalities. She was able to direct her energy and spontaneity towards helping her children acquire added common sense skills. Melody was blessed with two children, a son, Devin Davis and a daughter, Makayla Davis. Melody was a flexible worker who was able to draw the best from others around her. A persuasive individual who was quick to make necessary decisions, Melodys strengths included being able to think on her feet. She could be a leader who sought impact for her decisions. Gifted with an incredible ability to read body language, Melody was able to positively manipulate situations and motivate others in order to get a task completed. She was a good negotiator who enjoyed new challenges. Melody could multi-task, and she was endowed with entrepreneurial spirit, allowing her to think beyond standard norms when it came to resolving issues in her work environment. Her primary occupation was as an assembly/factory worker/machine operator. Melody was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. One of Melodys favorites was Shadow, a shitzu dog. were best friends for 5 years. Melody passed away on 18, 2009 at Snapps Ferry Road in Greeneville, Tennessee. Melody died as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She is survived by her children: Devin and Makayla; father: Junior; mother: Carolyn: step-father: Danny; sisters: Sarah and Crystal; and brothers: Marty and Adam. Services were held at Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel. Melody was laid to rest in Mount Hebron in Greeneville, Tennessee. Melody was the kind of person who could win others over easily. A concrete communicator, she relied on her senses to increase her involvement and awareness of others. She was always able to provide amusing repartee to her friends and acquaintances, offering a seemingly endless supply of quips, anecdotes, jokes and stories. If Melody had a theme song written about her, it might well have been Don Worry, Be Happy. She enjoyed her life and the experience of living it. This is how everyone will remember Melody Paige Gosnell. |

Obituary: Jesse B. Gosnell, 87, of Upper Paint Creek, Greeneville, passed away , 13, 2013, at Takoma Regional Hospital. He retired from Magnavox after 30 years and was a member of Community Fellowship Church. Survivors include many beloved nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law: Sharmalee Gosnell of Erwin; Evelyn Gosnell of Cincinnati, OH; best friend: Cecil Self of Greeneville; many close friends: Geraldine Gibson, Paul and Peggy Harris, Hazel and Cloyd Cutshaw, Guy V. and Myrtle Morgan, Kenneth Gosnell, Hubert and Doris Metcalf, Geneva and Joe Walton all of Greeneville; and many other friends too numerous to mention. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Laura Gosnell; seven brothers: Lawrence, Charles, Warner, James, Johnny, Buster and Edgar Gosnell and one sister, Roxie Chandler. The funeral service will be at 8 pm , 16, 2013, in the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel. Rev. Hubert Metcalf and Rev. Joe Walton will officiate. Interment will be 10 am at Andrew Johnson National . The Greene Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct a military graveside service. Pallbearers will be Robert Tweed, Mike Greene, Zane Davis, Richard Cutshall, Bill Chandler and Kody Lemons. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Collins, Joe Chandler, Orville Gosnell and Kenneth Gosnell. The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Michael Odell and Wanda Foulks for years of friendship and care. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm preceding the funeral service. |
