Obituary: William Robert (Bob) Gormley, age 88, formerly of Benedict, Md. and Myrtle Beach, S.C. passed away , 3, 2015 in Erwin, Tn. He was preceded in death by his parents Amy P. Wiggins & Wm. A. Gormley; grandparents Lida Belle & Wm. D. Gormley and Sara Lamar & Joseph Henry Padgett Jr.; former wife Harriett L. Gormley; wife Margaret P. Gormley; and great-granddaughters Sarah H. & Faith E. Foxwell. Those left to cherish his memory include his son Wm. Gormley (Susan) of Ca.; daughters Roberta Wechsler of Md., Barbara Houchen (Paul) of Md. and Debra Burton (Charles) of Tn.; 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; many cousins and friends; and special lifelong friend Norma Laurie. Bob was born in Washington D.C. on 8, 1927. He retired from the Smithsonian Institution as a Sheet Metal Master. He loved NASCAR, crabbing, playing pool, telling stories and the Grove in Benedict. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on 25, 2015 at Fort Lincoln , Brentwood, Md. Those attending the graveside service should meet at Robert Evans in Bowie, Md. at 10:15 am for the procession. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the charity of your choice. Obituary: Thomas Chester Gormley, Jr. (Chet) passed from this life on , 6th after a tragic car wreck. His legacy lives on through his selfless organ donations and in the hearts and minds of those whom his life has touched. Born 20th, 1988 in Nashville, TN, Chet was an adventurer and an intellectual, passionately pursuing his interests wherever they led him. Growing up on the lake at Hill and his later adventures in Boy Scout Troop 31 instilled Chet with a love for the outdoors and introduced him to his favorite hobbies. Whether he was climbing, kayaking, wakeboarding or snowboarding, Chets smile was never brighter than when he was doing what he loved. Chet was born with a strong curiosity and intellect. He excelled at school, from Julia Green Elementary through Montgomery Bell Academy, where he formed fast friendships and graduated Cum Laude in 2007. He continued his education at Penn State, becoming a brother at the Zeta Psi fraternity, and finished his studies at Vanderbilt where he earned a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2011. He interned at several local engineering firms after graduation and fulfilled a lifelong dream by working as a ski instructor at Copper Mountain in Colorado before returning to Nashville and taking a position in the engineering department at Nissan. Chet is survived by a multitude of loving family and friends. Surviving him are his loving parents, Bess and Tom Gormley, his sister, Patricia and his brother, Will. His paternal grandmother is Ruth Gormley of Bowling Green, KY. His maternal aunts and uncles are Jim Harris and Leslie Boone; Dr. Howard and Pat Jones; Dr. Freeman and Sue Harris of Portland, OR; and Jack and Debra Harris, formerly of Nashville. His paternal aunts and uncles are Steve and Marilyn Gormley of Shelbyville, KY; Steve and Cathy Chapman of Canton, GA; David Gormley of the Forks of Elkhorn, KY; Dan and Anne Mosier, and Kevin and Amy Croghan of Bowling Green KY; and innumerable cousins and friends. Memorial services will be at St. Georges Episcopal Church on Harding Road in Nashville, TN on 15. The visitation will be in Hampton Hall from 9:30 to 11 am with a service to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Boy Scouts of America, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, or blood donations to the Red Cross. |

Obituary: Mark Joseph Gormley passed away peacefully on 15, 2016 at his home in Rocky Top (Lake City), TN. He was a much beloved husband, father, singer, song writer, guitar player, horse whisperer, sportsman, professional airplane model builder and pilot. Mark was born in Rapid City, South Dakota on 25, 1959. Growing up in an Air Force family, he saw and experienced much of the world. He tried his luck in California to see if ock legend was his calling and as it turned out God had other plans for him. Not long after returning from California, he was diagnosed with colon cancer. That set in motion a 20 year struggle to defeat this dreaded disease. Over the next 20 years he had 6 further operations and with Gods blessing and guidance, beat the odds that were stacked against him. In ensuing years, he managed to complete his pilot training and went to work as a flight instructor; following which he was employed by USAir, where he rose through the ranks to become a captain. In 2003, he was blessed to fly DC8s and MD11s for UPS around the globe. During this time he met and married Kelley McCreight Gormley of Oak Ridge, TN (Ridge Greenhouse and Florist) in 2005. subsequently settled in Lake City, TN, and were blessed with two wonderful children, Abby and JT, the joys of his life. In 2014 he exercised his right to disability retirement and spent his remaining years with his family. His belief in the healing powers of Jesus and the guidance that it gave to his life was a testimony. Those that knew him will never forget his parting message to those he loved was…..
