Obituary: Cecil Willard Gates, 89, of Soddy Daisy went to be with the Lord , 23, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Gates was a faithful member of Daisy Church of God, Volunteer Masonic Lodge #549, Daisy Masonic Lodge 706, Hixson Order of the Eastern Star 310, and the Scottish Rite. He had been a 50 year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 917. Mr. Gates was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Charlene Neal Gates and his daughter, Marsha Burke. He was survived by his son, Danny (Cindy) Gates, of Atoka, TN; 3 daughters, Patty (Art) Keith of Ooltewah, Shirley Hunt of Sale Creek, and Gladys (Butch) Rees of Decatur, Al; brother, Jimmy (Becky) Gates of Memphis, and his special Christian friend, Helen Gates. A visitation will be will be held from 5:00 pm \ 8:00 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. at North Chapel with Pastor Sam Phillips officiating. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alhambra Shriners, 1000 Alhambra Dr., Chattanooga, TN 37421 are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga , Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson. Obituary: Mark Daniel Gateley, age 55 of Clinton, TN, passed away , 8, 2014 after an extended illness. Mr. Gateley is preceded in death by his father, Huston Gateley, and sister, Miriam Gateley. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Julie Gateley; son, Jesse, and daughter, Hannah; mother, Vivian Gateley, brother Tim Gateley, both of Huntingdon, TN, and brother Jonathan Gateley, of Humboldt, TN; as well as nieces, nephews and great-nieces. Mr. Gateley began his career teaching vocational agriculture in Kenton, TN, where he received the Honorary Chapter Farmer award from the Kenton FFA. He later taught vocational agriculture at Martin Westview High School in Martin, TN, where he helped charter a local chapter of the FFA Alumni and received the Teacher of the Year Award from the Tennessee Agriculture Teachers Association. In 1992 he relocated to Anderson to begin work as a 4-H agent for the University of Tennessee. Mr. Gateley went on to work in the state 4-H office where he led a successful fundraising campaign for the Tennessee 4-H Foundation, serving as Executive Director until his retirement. He served on the National Board of Directors of Epsilon Sigma Phi and was a member of the Tennessee 4-H Alumni. He was a member of the Oak Ridge church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to the Tennessee 4-H Foundation, 205 Morgan Hall, 2621 Morgan Circle, Knoxville, TN 37996-4510; or to the Tennessee FFA, Box 5034, Cookeville, TN 38505-0001.
