Obituary: We wish to refer to Mary Ann as Mom in this semi bio of her life as remembered by her children. Mom was born and lived her entire life in California. Initially one of five girls she would later have another sister and brother come into her life. Mom was always ahead of her time to include being very witty and extremely smart. Following her graduation from high school she attended college at a time where many women anywhere much less one from a rural community were continuing their education by going onto college was virtually unheard of. Following her time in school she applied her education to her job working for Sears for several years. Over the course of her life she held many prestigious positions and was always known for her hard work as well as her dedication to all that she pursued. Her most valued position included that of a homemaker and caretaker for her seven children. Mom was never one to sit back and let life pass therefore, during the time that should have been her retirement years she pursued a career with Pfizer that would become one of her proudest achievements. It was during her college years that she met and married the father of her children. Mom married only once and supported her husband in all of his endeavors which led them to travel throughout the state of California. would go on to spend many years to together and bring seven beautiful children into the world however, they would later separate yet family would always remain moms focus in her life despite the marriage to the father of her children ending. Moms children were her life and she was proud of each of them for all of their accomplishments ranging from one serving in the military to another educating future generations to others caring for their families. Each of her children went on to have families of their own and bring her many grandchildren who would become the apple of her eye. She loved and treasured every moment she was able to spend with her grandchildren and the great-children that would later come into her life as her grandchildren went on to have families of their own. It was her wit, support, love for life, and love for others that would lead her grandchildren as well as her great-children to adore her more than anything in this world. To others she may have been perceived as one woman but to her children, grandchildren, and great-children she was the world. Mom led a wonderful life and embraced every moment that life offered her. She would be the first to say that to anyone and mean that with the up most sincerity. It was that sincerity that would inspire those around her to live life to its fullest. Over the course of her life she experienced various challenges however, it would be those challenges that would turn her into the survivor that she was and keep her grounded in her faith. It was her faith that guided her through each day and gave her the strength to overcome anything life presented her with. Throughout her life she was viewed by many particularly her children as a role model which would lead them to look up to her and strive to make her proud. Mom had many passions in life one of which being art. It was through her art that she could express to others the beauty she always found in life therefore, inspiring others to find the beauty that life always has to offer even in the darkest of moments. She loved to laugh and tell jokes as she believed laughter was the key to overcoming anything that life presented. Her laughter was contagious and a sound that her children as well as her grandchildren will forever remember. Over the course of her life she traveled across the United States and loved to go on adventures. When we say mom lived life she truly did by embracing any opportunity life presented her with. Now as we speak these words and give it some thought mom was always proud of all no matter what but most importantly of all mom loved each one of us unconditionally including her grandchildren. Besides her children and grandchildren she is survived by one brother and three sisters all of who reside in the valley. |

Obituary: Martha Villa Gomez died 11, 2017, at Watsonville Community Hospital. She was 80. A native of Atoca, New Mexico, she has lived in Watsonville for 68 years. Mrs. Gomez graduated from Watsonville High School in 1955 and married her husband, Herbert, in 1956. were married 59 years before his passing in 2015. She was manager of the repair service department of AT&T for 22 years, retiring in 1990. Mrs. Gomez was a collector of many things, including perfume bottles, dolls, and beanie babies. She loved to travel, especially cruises, tending to her garden and spending time with her family. Mrs. Gomez is survived by her sons, Gilbert Michael and Herbert Anthony Gomez both of Watsonville; daughter, Catherine Ann Hazen of Hollister; brother, Jesse Villa of Modesto; sisters, Nellie Hertzog of Watsonville, Alice Miller of Cambria, and Mary V. McLaughlin of Potomac Falls, Virginia; and eight grandchildren. Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Matthew Gomez; brother, Lazaro Villa; and sister, Benita Fregoso. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated , 21, 2017, 10:00 a.m., at Church of the Assumption. Burial will follow at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park. Mehls Colonial Chapel has been entrusted with funeral arrangements. |

Obituary: Marizelda Munoz-Gomez, age 49, of Murrieta, CA, passed away peacefully on 21, 2015, with her family by side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Zelda was born on 5, 1965 in San Bernardino, CA to father Jose Munoz and mother Blanca O. Munoz. She grew up in a large, loving family with three sisters and two brothers. In 1992, Zelda relocated to Temecula, CA, where she happily raised her family for twenty-three years. Professionally, Zelda was fierce and ambitious in her career as a paralegal, and was often referred to as The Shark. She was also a member of the Southwest Riverside Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Zelda was extremely social, with an immense number of lifelong friends. She had a love for wine tasting, martini-making, karaoke, and spoiling her grandchildren. Zelda had a heart of gold, and would do anything for those she loved and those who loved her. She will be remembered for her humor, generosity, as well as her habit of having the most impressive display of decorations during the Christmas season. She loved decorating, event planning, a well-polished Porsche, and her family most of all. When diagnosed with lung cancer in early 2014, she stayed dedicated to her family and work throughout her fight with the illness. She remained a brave, selfless, iron-willed woman, even through her final months. She is survived by her mother, Blanca O. Munoz, five children, Paul C. Reyes (wife, Alexis) Crystal Templin (husband, Kris), Jacob Dorado, Jesus Dorado Jr., and Jade Gomez; four grandchildren, Hayden, Braylon, Mason, and Ruby; as well as her five siblings, Jose Munoz Jr. (wife, Gina), Yolanda Walsh (husband, Richard), Patricia Partida (husband, Martin), Gustavo Munoz, Martha Munoz and eleven nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Jose Munoz, of Douglas, AZ. |
