Obituary: Stefan Jan Ginilewicz, 91, passed away at home in Bakersfield, CA, on , 19, 2016. The son of Joszef and Ewa (Bieniek) Ginilewicz, he was born on 18, 1924, in Poland. Stefan proudly served in the Polish Armed Forces during World War II in the European theater. Following the end of World War II, Stefan received an education at the University of London. He emigrated to the United States in 1952 where he earned two Masters degrees in Business Administration and Hospital Administration at the University of Chicago. Stefan made his career serving in various executive positions from CFO to Executive Director for hospitals in Chicago and La Grange, Illinois; Brownsville and Groves, Texas; and Visalia and Encino, California. Throughout his life, Stefan enjoyed traveling, visiting many countries across Europe, including Russia, as well as China, Japan, New Zealand, Israel, and Brazil. He remained devoted to the memory and culture of his native Poland, supporting many Polish organizations in America. He is survived by his niece, Marcela Ginilewicz Gross and her husband, Stephen, of Warwick, NY, and various close friends in and around Bakersfield and Chicago, and elsewhere around the country. He was predeceased by his beloved brother, Wlodek, in 1971. A Polish Mass will be celebrated in his name at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, at 12:30 PM, with interment to follow immediately afterwards. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Warwick Humane Society of Warwick, NY, or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. |
