Obituary: Gardner Raymond Giles was born in Siren, Wisconsin on 4, 1923. He passed away on Veterans Day, 11, 2015. The first years of his life were spent on the Giles family farm named Spruce Springs in LaFollette Township near Coomer, Wisconsin. Before the military, Raymond worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp. From 1942 until Dec. 1942 Raymond worked for the Butler Shipyard in Superior, Wisconsin. And on 27, 1943 he enlisted in the United States Navy. He was sent to Memphis, Tennessee and trained as an Aviation Radioman Second-Class USNR. In the Navy he was nicknamed Guns because he held the position as an aircraft Gunner. He was based in San Diego, CA. He served in the Pacific and was Honorably Discharged from the United States Navy on 7, 1945. Raymond went to work for the Civil Aeronautics Board (today known as the F.A.A.) and was stationed in Hawaii testing and repairing airport radio operations. He bought his first house in Hawaii at age 21. When his work was completed in Hawaii, the C.A.B. sent Raymond from airport to airport in the United States testing their radio operations. It was during this time that he met his future wife, Helen Marie Evans, who worked at the Canton-Akron Airport in East Sparta, Ohio as a ticket agent for Capital Airlines. Married on Oct. 17, 1953, Helen and Ray moved to Los Angeles, CA.. starting a family Raymond entered the Real Estate business owning an office in Anaheim, California with partner, Ray Parge. He sold his part of the business to his partner, and left to start in the Construction Trade building selling homes; first in Los Angeles area and later in Loomis, California. In the State of California, Raymond owned his own Contractor Business named Western Craftsman. He was a meticulous builder, a perfectionist, and loved his work. He worked well in to his 80s. He always helped out and gave a hand to any family member or friend who needed it. Raymond was the most kind, wonderful, patient father, husband and human being his family has ever known. He adored his wife and they were a team from the start. He loved to tease, laugh and sing. Helen and Ray loved watching The Lawrence Welk Show and visited the Branson, Missouri location when Raymond turned 75. He enjoyed singing with his son-in-law, Allan, all the old tunes. He was a humble and religious man, respectful of others. Raymond (Gardner) is preceded in death by his sisters: Mrs. Leslie Tjader (Alesi), Miss Faith Giles, and brother Robert Giles. Obituary: Paula Ann Giles, beautiful and talented wife, mother, daughter, and friend passed away peacefully at her home in Moorpark on , 7, 2010 at the age of 54. Paula is now at peace after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Paula was born in Southern California on May 21, 1956 to Harold and Gloria Nielsen. Soon after her graduation from high school in 1974, Paula met and fell in love with Anthony Gordon Giles. Following a short courtship, they were sealed for time and all eternity in 1978 in the Los Angeles California Temple. Along with fulfilling her role as a devoted wife and mother, Paula was also known for her amazing ability to make everyone around her feel comfortable and important. As noted by her husband, Paula can put a meal together, get out the utensils, table cloth, and plates faster than anyone on this earth. By the time I ask if I can help, I find everything is already done. Paula served faithfully as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in various callings where she blessed the lives of so many with her selfless service and love. Amidst all of her accomplishments, the greatest ones occurred in the home. She undoubtedly exemplified the admonition of President David O. McKay when he said, The greatest work we will do in this life will be within the walls of your own home. Paula is survived by her husband, Tony; her 4 children, Jennifer Bulkley (Joshua), Garrett Giles (Becky), Dawn Giles, and Weston Giles; her parents, Harold and Gloria Nielsen; 5 grandchildren, Gavin (5), Aubrie (3), Adeline (2), Anna (1), and Anthony (3mths); and her 7 siblings, Lynette Gay (Bob), Diana Bingham (Larry), Tom Nielsen, John Nielsen (Denise), Craig Nielsen (Linda), Carol Coleman (Lloyd), and Sandi Hale (Dave). In Lieu of flowers, the Giles family requests that donations be sent to www.engagenowafrica.org at 25012 Avenida Balita, Valencia, CA 91355. In memory of Paula, your donations will aid in the construction of a well that will provide clean water for the citizens of Ethiopia. |

Obituary: To our family and people who really knew him, Paul was an amazing man. He was a dedicated and caring person of deep-seated values and unwavering beliefs. he took his duties and responsibilities very seriously. He believed that while you were on this earth your job was to live your life with dignity, respect and honor, to be the best person you can be, while contributing to make a better life for the people around you. Paul had many facets to his personality, he was a gentlemen, honest and true, what you saw is what you got, no gimmicks or games, just the true man that stood in front of you. He was civilized, educated, well mannered and a quite leader. He led his family in the right direction, by his example, by using few words and just by his simple actions. He was genuine, artfully subtle and proficient in everything he did. Paul was a man of great intellect and intelligence; he was talented clever and very logical. He would read, analyze, and investigate everything he did to find the best approach to the situation. He was always coming up with new ingenious ways of looking and doing things to make life easier. ( He was also the first to point out how you could improve on what you were doing with or without his requested help) Professionally- He was committed, dedicated, competent and accomplished. There was never a time that when he did not commit his efforts or expertise to any task or assignment, that he couldn find a way to make it better or more meaningful. He was never satisfied with just getting something finished. His logic and analytical mind would always find new ways to look at a situation or problem. Everyone who dealt with him professionally or on a project knew his reputation for his work ethic and dedication. Personally- He was a loving, profoundly tender, compassionate, and caring person. The depth of love he had for his loved ones is everlasting. His loyalty was unwavering, he stood by your side through all of the good times and the bad. His generosity was unquestionable. He always had an open heart and open mind for anything that we needed, always generous and supportive with his time no matter how busy, or towards the end how bad he felt, he would stop, listen and offer to help with the situation. Courageous- Paul taught us that no matter what you have planned; life may have a different one. He showed us how to climb a mountain even when there was no assurance of making it to the top. He climbed that mountain every day for the last four years, as hard as that climb was he still showed kindness and grace to all around him. Paul was magnetic; everything about him drew you to him, offering words of wisdom and kindness that made you just always want to be around him. His trustworthiness, support, and selflessness were unquestionable. Everything he did was for his family and he always went above and beyond to do everything in his power to make sure that his family was taken care of. Paul Dean Giles, the man who led a honorable and hardworking life, who loved deeply and never, wavered from his principles and values. He was devoted and faithful to the ones he loved and the ones who loved him. He was a strong shoulder to cry on, or the mind of great advise. There was never a promise not kept, or a moment without his support. He deserved and earned the upmost respect for all his accomplishments and achievements. A devoted husband and best friend of 51 ½ years, dependable father, father-in-law, compassionate papa, loving brother, brother-in-law, uncle and caring friend. And absolutely 100% UNFORGETTABLE! He will always live in our hearts and will always be a part of our everyday life. We won be the people or the family we are today if it were not for his influence, encouragement and wisdom. fingerprints are like values, you leave them on everything that you do - Elvis Presley Pauls fingerprints are left on everything he has touched and on all of our hearts, in all of our lives, and in all of our memories. Those fingerprints are what made us the family we are today and because of him we will be able to find out strength and push forward, always remembering the things he taught us and the values he gave us. |
