Obituary: Mary Jane Corbett Green, age 90 years, a native of Richwood, WV, a former resident of Elkins, WV and more recently a resident of Moncks Corner, SC departed this life evening, 19, 2016 at Pruitt at Moncks Corner, SC. She was born , 1, 1926 at Richwood, WV a daughter of the late John Gainer and Rose Alice Adams Corbett. On 3, 1962 she was married to Virgil H. Green, who preceded her in death, 11, 1985. Surviving are one sister, Ida Mae Campbell of Moncks Corner, SC; seven nieces. Rose Alice Prescott of Ladson, SC, Rose Mary Sponaugle of Elkins, Janet D. Infinger, Ida Mae Pizziollo, Patricia Ann Campbell, and Loretta Williamson, all of Lexington, SC, Barbara Limehouse of Summerville, SC; and two nephews, James Douglas Campbell, Jr., of Lexington, SC and Richard Bailey of Elkins. Preceding her in death are three brothers, Junior Corbett, Roy Gainer, and Ray Corbett; one sister, Ruby Isaac; and two half-brothers, Harry, and Wilbert Corbett. She attended the schools of Richwood, had worked at the former Clothes Pin Factory at Richwood for fourteen years, and worked as a housekeeping supervisor for motels in Richwood and later the Elkins Motor Lodge for seventeen years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the First Church of Christ at Elkins and enjoyed traveling. A private family gathering was held. Interment followed at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV. |

Obituary: Lyman, SC---Marshall Lee Green, 85, of 1205 Holly Springs Rd. went home to be with the Lord on , 7, 2015 at Spartanburg Regional Medical . Born in Spartanburg, SC on 22, 1929, he was a son of the late Horace Newton and Minnie (Bagwell) Green and was the husband of the late Betty Lucille Green. Mr. Green served in the U.S. Army Reserve and retired from Mitsubishi after 30 years of employment. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Lyman, SC. He is survived by two daughters, Vickie Green of Wellford and Joan Ensley and her husband Steve of Lyman; a very special granddaughter, Macy Ensley; three brothers, Johnny Green of Spartanburg, Charlie Green of Spartanburg and Carol Butch Green of Wellford; one sister, Alice Lanford of Spartanburg. He was predeceased by three brothers, Sam Green, Jack Green and Ervin Green and one sister, Sarah Pearman. Obituary: Mark Ronald Green, M.D., 70, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Judith Lax Green, entered into eternal rest , 23, 2015. His Service will be held , 25, 2015 in the Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim Reform Temple, 90 Hasell Street, at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim . by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Downtown Chapel. Dr. Green was born 13, 1945 in Norwalk, Connecticut, son of Dr. H. Howard Green and Irene Wouk Green. He received his B.A. (magna cum laude) and his M.D. from Harvard University. He was an intern and resident at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston before serving as a clinical associate at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Bethesda. From 1974 to 1976 he was at Stanford University as a senior resident in medicine and as a fellow in oncology. In 1976, Dr. Green joined the faculty of the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). During his tenure there, he held a number of positions, including director of clinical oncology; director of the hematology/oncology fellowship training program; and head of the division of hematology/oncology. From 1985 to 1990, he was director of the UCSD Cancer , which he successfully led to its first five-year core grant. While at UCSD, he held the Edwin and Evelyn Tasch Professorship in Cancer Research, which was established in his honor. In 1996, Dr. Green joined the faculty of the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) as the Mary M. Gilbreth Chair of Clinical Oncology and as director of the Hollings Cancer . He remained in his post as director and head of the division of hematology/oncology through 2000, and retired from the full-time faculty as a Professor Emeritus in 2004. A nationally and internationally respected oncologist, he contributed significantly to the understanding and treatment of solid tumors. His research focused on clinical trials of new therapies for the treatment of cancers of the lung and pancreas. Dr. Green chaired one of NCIs cancer treatment study group committees on lung cancer for over 20 years. During his tenure as chair of the Respiratory Committee of the Cancer and Leukemia Group B (CALGB), he oversaw the development of new and innovative treatments used in thirty member universities and hundreds of medical centers. He authored hundreds of scholarly papers and co-authored The Comprehensive Textbook of Thoracic Oncology. From 1995 to 2007, he served as the vice-chairman of the CALGB. Dr. Green was a member of the distinguished American Board of Internal Medicine Subspecialty Board of Medical Oncology from 1989 to 1999, and served as the subspecialty board chair from 1995 to 1999. His major academic interests focused on thoracic oncology, clinical and translational investigation, medical education, and mentoring fellows and young faculty. As a mentor, Dr. Green was one of the most highly respected oncologists in the United States. He guided and directed dozens of the leading oncologists in the world today and was repeatedly honored as one of the Best Cancer Specialists in the U.S. Dr. Green was also the chief medical officer of Xcenda, a position he held since 2007. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Dr. Rebecca Heinowitz of Boiceville, NY, and Hillary G. Obituary: Maribelle Green Green, of Spartanburg, died 5, 2015 at The Cottages at Brushy Creek in Greer. She was originally from Greenville, SC, the daughter of the late Abraham Bristow and Belle Willingham Green. She was predeceased by her husband, Reid Elliott Green; brothers, Thad Edward and Lamar Monroe (Toppie) Green; and great niece, Jennifer Stevenson. Mrs. Green was a 1942 graduate of Flora Macdonald in Red Springs, North Carolina. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church in Spartanburg and a former volunteer with Mobile Meals and Mary Black Hospital. Mrs. Green is survived by two nieces and their husbands, Eleanor and Fred Wynn of Hilton Head and Carolyn and Richard Stevenson of Greenville. She is also survived by two great nieces, Lauren Wynn Hall and her husband Chris of Atlanta; Elizabeth Stevenson Burnette and her husband Steven of Taylors; and a great nephew, David Wynn and his wife Diane of Atlanta. There are three surviving great great nephews, Ryan Salisbury of New York City, and Bo and Davis Wynn of Atlanta. Graveside services will be held , 10, 2015 at 2:00pm at White Oak Baptist Church , Greenville SC. The family will be at the home of her niece, Carolyn, in Greenville the day of the service.
