Gene, 69, passed away on 11, 2016 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Gene was interred at the Springs Chapel . Gene Guthrie was born May 23, 1947 in Pasadena, California. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mamie Guthrie, as well as brother Leon. Gene is survived by brothers Art, Frank, Lester, Michael; sisters Lila, Patricia, Shirley; and the many cousins in the McClain family living in Hugo and Choctaw . We all loved him very much. Gene was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Altadena, California. He graduated from Pasadena High School before serving in the Army during the Tet Offensive in Vietnam. He moved to Oklahoma after returning from the service, and worked with a local recycling center. His interests were playing the guitar and riding his bike. Obituary: Freddie Glen Guthrie, or Fred to his family and friends, was born on 10th, 1946 in Boxley, AR, the son of Alfred and Jessie (Bowen) Guthrie. He moved with his eight brothers and sisters to Westville, OK and graduated from Westville High School. On 15th, 1967, he married his wife and constant companion, Betty F. Towie. This union was blessed with two sons, Freddie Wayne and James Patrick. Fred was in the construction industry, and was self employed. His passion was music, he played the guitar, mandolin, and bass, and was an avid fan of country music and southern gospel. Fred played with numerous bands in both Arkansas and Oklahoma, he played for senior citizens, birthday parties, and community centers all over northeastern Oklahoma. He enjoyed a day spent working in his garden and loved raising livestock such as cattle and hogs. He liked to travel and see someplace new and enjoyed going to yard sales in search of a bargain. He was stubborn and headstrong, yet possessed a keen sense of humor, and occasionally cut up in fun. He adored his grandchildren and enjoyed any chance he had to spend time with them. A Christian by faith, Fred was called to his eternal home on 16th, 2015 at his home in Park Hill. Fred was 69 years old. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Fred is preceded in death by his mother, father, one brother, Les Guthrie and one sister, Geraldine Strode. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 48 years, Betty Guthrie of the home in Park Hill, his two sons, Freddie Wayne Guthrie and James Patrick Guthrie and wife Robbi all of Park Hill, OK. He leaves two brothers and three sisters, Lemuel Guthrie and wife Leora of OR, and Lyman Guthrie of CA, Eileen St. Martin and husband Jerry of CA, Viola Bales of Stilwell, OK, Nina Lee Guthrie of MO, and Wanda Russell of Westville, OK. His legacy lives on in his five grandchildren, Stacie Guthrie and companion Colten Boston , her brother Chance Guthrie and their mother Cathy Guthrie all of Tahlequah , Tyler Guthrie and fiancée Heather Chuculate of Stilwell, OK, Cole Guthrie and Kylie Guthrie both of Park Hill, OK. He has two great grandchildren, Conner Guthrie and BrenLeigh Ann Guthrie all of Stilwell, OK, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones. |

Online condolences for the family can be left at www.reedculver.com. Barbara Joy Guthrie was born on 13th, 1943 in Turlock, CA, the daughter of Monroe and Lillie (Sterrett) Guthrie. She attended school in CA and later the family relocated to OK. She attended School in Oklahoma, obtaining her degree in . She was a kind and compassionate nurse, always caring for those in her care as if they were her family. Barbara was a loving daughter, mother, and friend. She loved any time she had to spend on her daughters, Rita and Rene. She enjoyed curling up with a good book, or playing board games with her family and friends. When the summers came, she loved the great outdoors and a trip to her favorite fishing hole. The Lord called her from this life on 27th, 2015 in Vian, OK. She was 71 years old. She will be missed by her many friends and the family she loved so very much. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Bill Guthrie and one cousin, Jacob Farinelli. Those left to cherish her memory include her two daughters, Rita Foster and husband David of China Grove, NC and Rene Campbell of Houston, TX and her loving cousins, Dr. Carl Farinelli and wife Cathy and their family (which was more a younger brother then cousin). Her legacy lives on in her two adored grandchildren include David Durr and wife Sarah of Houston, TX and Felica Phelps and husband James also of Houston, TX; five great-grandchildren as well as a special aunt, Thelma Kitty Farinelli and a host of friends and loved ones. |
