Obituary: Mr. John Wesley Gillaspie, 67, went to be with the Lord on , 13, 2010 at his home. He was an US Army Veteran, serving with the 82nd Airborne division. He was born on 21, 1943 to Boyden and Era Gillaspie. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Terry Gillaspie. John is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Brenda Sue Sechrist Gillaspie. Also left to cherish precious memories are: daughters: Tammy Ridenhour and husband Steven Dale, and Aronda Halsey and husband Tim son: Wesley Keith Gillaspie Grandchildren: Amber Turner and boyfriend Joey Coleman, Steven Michael Ridenhour, Tabitha Smith and husband Justin, Bryan Gillaspie and wife Kimberly Great Grandchildren: Camden and Caben Gillaspie Brothers: Melvin Gillaspie and wife Barbara, and William Gillaspie and wife Rhonda. Sisters: Corrina Williams, Doris Bradley and husband Bob and Dorothy Steen and husband Bill. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. 15, 2010 at Thomasville . A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. on 16, 2010 with Pastor Billy Myers from Archdale Assembly of God at the funeral home chapel followed by interment in Holly Hill Memorial Park. Little Did We Know Little did we know that morning that God would call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone. For part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide. And though we cannot see you, you are always on our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same. But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again. |

Obituary: Rita Lynn Gilland, of Mint Hill, passed away peacefully at home , 16, 2014, after a life devoted to the Lord and her family. She was born in Fulton , GA, to Marcus Varner and Lillian Daisy McClendon Whitlock. She graduated from Lakeshore High School and Clayton Junior . In 1978, she married Oliver H. Gilland in Forest Park, GA. She has lived in the Charlotte-area for the past 25 years. During that time she worked as an executive assistant to the President, CEO and CFO of Sree Hospitality for more than 20 years. For a time she was also the assistant to the office of Superintendent for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. She spent her life studying the Bible, teaching others about Jesus Christ and striving to live as an example of his love. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother; son, Trent Gilland and his wife, Megan, of Townsend, TN; sister, Joyce Small and her husband, Nelson, of Newnan, GA; brother, Michael Whitlock and his wife, Susan, of York, SC; brother-in-law, C.A. Gilland and his wife, Loretta, of Maryville, TN; sisters-in-law, Frances Brackin of Townsend, TN, and Lois Jackson of Maryville, TN; step-daughters, Lori (husband, Bill) Dockter of Alcoa, TN, and Amanda (husband, Michael) Singleton of Maryville, TN; grandchildren, Kenda Roberts of Knoxville, TN, and Kayla (husband, Noah) Bachman, Christian Singleton and Kallie Singleton, all of Maryville, TN; great-granddaughter, Paisley Bachman of Maryville, TN; nephew, Jarred Whitlock and his wife, Bethany, of Decatur, GA; and niece, Rachel Whitlock of Clemson, SC. She was preceded in death by her father, her niece, Kimberly Small, and her nephew, Jeffrey Small. A visitation to celebrate her life will be held in Maryville, TN, on from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Smith and Cremation Service. A graveside gathering will follow at Grandview .
