Obituary: The greatest man we ever knew, James Ricky Guy, 61, of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at home on , 20, 2016, surrounded by his family. Ricky was preceded in death by his father, George W. Guy. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 41 years, Anita; his two daughters, Jamie Guy Ratliff and Mandie Guy; two grandchildren, Brody Ratliff and Addison Ratliff; his mother, Ruth Taylor Guy; brothers Charles Randy Guy (Jenny) and Karl Ronnie Guy (Jan); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Ricky was born in Montgomery, Alabama on 20, 1954, to George and Ruth Guy. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in May, 1972, and began work with the City of Montgomery in 1973. Ricky continued his work with and for the City of Montgomery for over 43 years. He was dearly loved and respected by his co-workers, colleagues and the community in which he served. Ricky was a family man who adored his wife, children and grandchildren. He had a lot of interests and hobbies including reading, hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and three best friends from childhood. However, most importantly, Ricky was a Christian whose faith and values were evidenced in his life, relationships and dealings with all people. His character and integrity were above reproach, and he lived his life putting others above himself and always lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Our loss is heaven's gain. He leaves behind a legacy that will not soon be forgotten. Those who knew and loved him were better because he knew and loved them. Pall bearers will be Randy Guy, Ronnie Guy, Mike Bush, Brody Ratliff, Thomas Guy, Ned Holley, Sam Harris, and Bob Williams. Honorary pall bearers will be Greg Moseley, Rip Eason, Julian Alford, Douglas Lee, Ronnie Lee and David Lee. Visitation will be held on , 25, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Montgomery, Stakely Chapel. Ricky's celebration of life service will begin promptly at 3:00 p.m. Graveside service will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park on Highway 331. |

Obituary: Daniel Allison Guy passed away , 29, 2015 at the age of 93. Mr. Guy was born in Tallassee, AL on 17, 1921 to James Henderson and Mary Lowder Guy. The family moved to Montgomery where two other children, Jeanelle and Charles were born. In his early years he worked at his father's business ( Coal Co.) delivering coal and ice from the age of 14. When WW II started Daniel became an airplane mechanic and married Cora Brady on 2, 1942. Soon afterward he was inducted into the Army Air Corps where he served in the South Pacific until the end of the war. In an interesting turn of events he ended up being the projectionist who first showed the the high ranking generals the films of the carnage of the atomic bombs dropped on Japan. the war Daniel went to barber school and for a time entered that occupation. Later he went to X-Ray school and became an X-Ray technician. Upon graduation he began work with the VA Hospital in Birmingham until 1961 when he transferred to the VA in Dublin, GA. He retired from the VA in the mid-seventies and moved back home to Montgomery. Sometime later he began working for Faulkner University and continued there for about 25 years. Mr. Guy lies in state at the Leak-Memory Chapel where visitation will be evening, 30, 2015 between the hours of 5 and 7 P.M. services will be held at Leak-Memory the following day, , at 1:00 P.M. A shorter visitation will take place before the ceremony. Pall bearers will be Paul Guy, Chris Guy, Will Witherow, Joe Koob, Jeremy Bagwell and Tim Catchim. Mr. Guy was preceded in death by Cora Brady Guy, his bride for over 63 years as well as his parents and both siblings. He is survived by his four children, Danny (Daniel C.) Guy, David Guy (Judy), Philip Guy (Betsy), and Rebecka Guy Bagwell (James Jr.). He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and numerous friends, relatives and acquaintances. He will truly be missed. |

Obituary: Anna Hounshell Guy, age 97 of Birmingham, passed away 1, 2015. She was born on 22, 1917 in Rural Retreat, VA to David W. and Florence B. Hounshell. Anna was a graduate of Emory & Henry , where she received her BS in Pre-med in 1939 and from Emory Medical School where she received her degree as a Registered Nurse in 1942. On 8, 1943, she married Rev. Henry Aston Guy. Anna served faithfully as a ministers wife in many churches in Florida in the 40's and 50's and later was very active at First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, FL. Anna enjoyed her work as an RN. She started out as a surgical nurse but after having children was a private duty nurse for many years until she retired. Anna moved to Birmingham in 1999 where she lived at Episcopal Place and was a member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church. For the last 5 years, Anna has lived with her daughter, Kay Kniskern. Anna lived a long life characterized by her love of her Savior, Jesus Christ, and her service to Him by serving others. Anna was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Rev. Henry A. Guy. She is survived by her children: David Ansley Guy (Barbara), Samuel Edward Guy (Elvie), Susan Elizabeth Guy Burns (Marshall), John Wesley Guy (Michelle) and Kay Guy Kniskern (Chip); her grandchildren: Matthew David Guy, Laura Callie Guy Leamy, Arthur Henry Guy, Katherine Marie Guy Gaby, Wendy Leigh Theriot, Stephen Edward Guy, Julie Anne Guy Tuffo, David Bradford Kniskern, Ansley Elizabeth Kniskern Russell, Peter Wesley Kniskern and Samuel Aston Kniskern . Also left to treasure her memories are her beloved great-grandchildren: Caroline, Michael, Sophie, Zoe, Parker, Sophia, Isabella, McKayla, McKenzie, Olivia, Dominic, Margaret and Anna.
